Holy shit.

Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, the 2029 first round pick, and pick swaps in 2028 and 2030.

I hate to see Jrue go, but Grayson was unplayable in the playoffs.

Giannis - sign the damn extension now.

Wow. Hate to see Jrue go, no ring without him and by all accounts a good man.

Gotta think there’s more moves coming. A defensive minded wing and or guard, plus a guard who can distribute.

Will be interesting to see if Dame changes his game.

This obviously raises the offensive ceiling of the Bucks about as high as it can get. Imagine running pick and roll with Middleton/Giannis or Lillard/Giannis with Lillard/Middleton spotting up in the corner to block help defense.

Giannis, Lillard, and Middleton are obviously on the floor for the closer minutes in the playoffs.

But Lillard is not a good defender at point guard, and the Bucks have no depth now to cover for it after losing Jevon Carter. They also have no other assets to move to get there, unless they now move Portis.

Lopez and Portis are often unplayable to close playoff games because they get targeted on switches. That leaves Connaughton and Crowder. That doesn't sound promising. Are Beauchamp and the rookies really going to be playable against the Celtics or Heat in a Game 7 type situation?

I think we have the answer to what the Bucks will do for half court offense in the 4th quarters of playoff games.

What we don't have is what their answer is for half court defense in the 4th quarters of playoff games.

I'd run Lillard/Giannis pick and role with Middleton and Beasley spotting up the entire game.

That’s gotta be so uncomfortable knowing you’re sending guys you’re close with away.

I just hope Jrue stays in the Western conference. He's such a class act, I'd hate to have to cheer against him on the Heat or Celtics.

He'd really be perfect in San Antonio as a veteran leader or in OKC for that matter.

Independent of anything else, I'm happy not to have to cheer for Grayson Allen anymore. Also, he withered in the playoffs

Wow.  Late to the party here.

This deal was as much about keeping Dame away from another team in the East as it was to upgrade the offense in clutch moments.  Although, Portland could always flip Holiday to another team?

Thar being said, adding Dame means if Middleton isn’t 100% all the time their offense doesn’t suffer.

I absolutely love what Holiday did for this team.  They don’t win the title 2 years ago without him.  Still, his game really dropped off late in the year and his defense in particular was troubling in the Miami series.   He was also on an expiring contract so to lose him for nothing would have been a massive problem.

Getting rid of Allen isn’t bad either as he was a complete liability in the playoffs.

Defensively, I do wonder if this opens the door for Beauchamp and Andre Jackson Jr to get some minutes as more defensive type players?    I would expect Crowder will see more playing time and if Pat C is healthy he’ll be contributing more than last year.

The face he's publicly said he was thinking about retiring in two years (if he exercised his player option) was also an issue. The bigger issue was that, for the most part, he provided Eric Bledsoe-level offense in the playoffs. His defense was HOF-level, but it had to be to up for the offensive struggles.

Still, it's very sad to have this happen after his quote in the JSOnline this morning.

“Would love to [sign an extension],” he said. “Before I even won here I think I said I’m a Buck for life and I mean that like deep in my heart. I don’t want to play for any other team. I think we have a chance to continue to do great things as the Bucks team and organization so I want to be in Milwaukee.”

What do you think? Agree with this list?

I would say this is #2 on the list. Oscar Robertson and Dame Lillard are no-doubt-about-it first-ballot Hall of Famers. Right now, getting Jrue is #2 in terms of impact because it won them a title, but if they at least make an NBA Finals with Lillard it will shoot up the list.

Sabathia and Greinke are going to get HOF votes, but they aren't upper pantheon. Sutton was similar - a very good play that eventually got in due to counting stats. Jrue was kind of in this category as well (but really isn't a serious HOF candidate at this point).

Trading a young superstar in Ray Allen for 3 months of the corpse of Gary Payton and Desmond Mason was right up there with the Hadl trade in terms of the worst of all time in Wisconsin sports.

Since the Bucks drafted Giannis in 2013, they don't have a single asset left on their roster that you can trace to first round pick other than Marjon Beauchamp. They don't control their own pick again until 2031. In fact, they don't have many 2nd round picks either. In fact, it looks like the only picks they currently control in the next 8 years are 2nd rounders in 2027 and 2031.

19 drafts is a long time to go between something out of first round pick. Of course, they will have some picks in the first round based on the pick swaps, but they have virtually no chance of drafting above the middle of the draft for a long time.

I always enjoy looking a those Vegas betting odds banners hanging from the rafters.

I'm IN Vegas and literally a couple hours before I'm going to bet the Bucks at 5.5 to 1, this trade happens and lowers the odds 🤬 FML

I'm not sure how anyone can not list the trade that brought Simmons, Vukovich and Fingers to the Brewers over Sutton and Grienke.

Talk about being blind-sided. I have conflicting thoughts on this as well. The Bucks obviously upgraded their offense, at the expense of their defense. Loved Jrue as a Buck, sorry to see him go. Hope this works out.

Lol like Miami and Toronto didn’t try to get Giannis?   Fuck Miami and Pat Riley.  I like Butler but he and Herro can fuck off as well.

The same Jimmy Butler that quit on the Timberwolves?

The same Pat Riley that has gotten away with tampering for years?

Butler pretty much forced his way out of Philadelphia as well.  He’s a bit of a headcase for sure but dude plays hard and with an edge and like Kahwi is one tough mother in the postseason.

The irony of his statement is it was completely obvious the Heat were angling to get Giannis.  Now they have the gall to suggest Milwaukee was tampering?    If that’s the case, LeBron James and the teams he’s played on have been tampering over the course of his entire career.
