That's all from McCarthy.

I'm a lot like that myself.

I'll stop to smell it once in a while, but it damn well better smell like roses.

But mostly, I'd rather just plow it.

Cool fact.  What's really bizarre it could happen for the Packers 2 weeks in a row.

No matter what happens you've got to believe NBC will flex the Nov 8 game vs Carolina, if for no other reason than to get rid of the Dallas/Philly turd of a game.

They mentioned last night, that I don't think they can flex that game.  I'm assuming FOX has it protected or it's too early in the season to flex.  Starts week 10 or 11?

Denver's defense will eat this offense alive if they play like they did the last 2 weeks.  This defense may be the best since the 2000 Ravens.  They have 5 guys that can legit get after the QB (4 with Shane Ray out) and they might have the best nickel secondary in the NFL.  They are vulnerable against the run, so really hoping Lacy and Starks are ready.

Our defense should dominate.  The Broncos will be the worst running team the Packers will have faced thus far,  so should be able to shut them down on the ground without crowding the box.  As for pass defense......Manning has as bad of an arm as I've ever seen in the NFL.  He knows where to go with it, he just can't get it there.  On the deep ball, his passes hang so high that any NFL caliber safety can break on ball and get there (see Woodson's second pick).  Thus, 90% of his passes will be short, so tackling is huge this game.  Manning really loves that short out and if the Packers' DBs are smart, there will be pick 6 opportunities.

This will be an interesting game.  I could see it going either way, based on how poorly the Packers offense has played recently.  Who would have thought Rodgers vs Manning would be a defensive struggle.

Packers defense climbs to No. 1

S Morgan Burnett, WR Davante Adams among injured players hoping to return this week

GREEN BAY – In more ways than one, the Packers’ defense got better this past week without playing.

Green Bay climbed two spots to No. 1 in the league in scoring defense over the bye. The Packers have allowed 101 points through six games for an average of 16.8 per game, ahead of division rival Minnesota and this week’s opponent, fellow unbeaten Denver, by the narrowest of margins.

The Vikings and Broncos have allowed 102 points in six games (17.0 avg.) to tie for second, while the league’s previous No. 1, the New York Jets, allowed 30 points on Sunday to New England and dropped to fourth.

More important, signs are pointing to the return of Morgan Burnett to the lineup, though the veteran safety was making no guarantees on Monday.

“It felt good today,” Burnett said of his troublesome calf, which has kept him out of all but one game this season. “Now my main focus is to keep progressing and not have any setbacks.”

Defensive lineman B.J. Raji (groin) is taking the same day-to-day approach, saying he didn’t push it too much in Monday’s practice. He’s waiting for later in the week to test his readiness. Outside linebacker Nick Perry (shoulder) also was back in full pads at practice on Monday.

Denver is going to have to accomplish an awful lot more to achieve a comparison to the 2000 Ravens.

They're good but I've already seen (saw?) lesser offenses have success vs. the Bronco defense only to turn the ball over & hand them a victory.

This Bronco team is a very fortunate 6-0 winning with defensive scores 3 times I believe.

I'll go out on a limb & say that won't happen vs. the Packers.

If the Broncos beat the Packers, it'll be because Green Bay turned the ball over.

The Packers OTOH, can (& probably will) beat the Broncos straight up & everyone knows it including the oddsmakers.

Our very best game plan might be to have a 3 headed monster of a rushing attack with Lacy, Starks and Harris. Run all ****ing day on them, pounding them into the next week, keeping Manning and his short tosses off the field, while protecting Aaron Rodgers by exposing him less to the DEN pass rush. Aaron always get this throws, but a heavy dose of the run by GB is what I want to see. All night.

I bet our OL would love to tee off on them with a full night of run blocking.

Our D is going to be in for a fun night. Peyton will try to keep up with Aaron, because Aaron always gets his throws, and it will cost him. Our DL and DBs should have an awesome game. Hell, LBs too. All in.

DEN has not faced a D the calibre of GB all season. BAL, KC, DET, MIN, OAK, CLE.

This is gonna be good.

Satori, you have no idea.  The local media has actually been pretty spot on criticizing Peyton Manning; it's the national media that refuses to believe Peyton has slipped, instead blaming everything else (o-line, lack of running game, Kubiak offense, etc.).

Back to the defense though, you got me rethinking.  They look amazing but they've played: Joe Flacco (with Steve Smith and nobody else catching passes), Alex Smith, Matt Stafford, Teddy Bridgwater, Derek Carr and Josh McCown.  That's whole lot of nothing.  So maybe I've overestimated their defense, not realizing they've yet to play a top 15 QB.

That is a cavalcade of suck.

Pack?  Cutler (20), Wilson (8), Smith (16), Kaep (24), Foles (27), Rivers (7).

Not a whole lot better.

Only in common is Smith, who had 80.2 against GB, Den 53.9.

This really only emphasizes that after Brady and Rodgers, there are no elite QB's.  After 8, not many good QB's.

That is what I am hearing too.  Many, many of my Bronco fan friends have had it with Peyton.  It started at the end of last season when he dropped off the map and blamed it on injury.  A lot of folks were skepticle but gave him the benefit of the doubt hoping that he would be his old self this year.  He ain't.  In listening to the radio shows lots of commentators are openly saying that he gave it all and he has no more to give. I even heard a couple of shows where the subject of Brock  Osweiler came up and and if it is time to try him out.

A couple of more bad Manning games and the locals will be up in arms.

When the 6-0 Green Bay Packers meet the 6-0 Denver Broncos on Sunday only one team will emerge undefeated.

And perhaps the Packers should take note, in the Super Bowl era, 32 teams have started a season 7-0 and all 32 have qualified for the playoffs.

Fifteen of those 32 have advanced to the Super Bowl and nine of them took home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

For their part, the Packers seem to be in the right mindset as they get ready for a two-game stretch that also includes a road game at the currently undefeated Carolina Panthers in Week 9.

“We’re 6-0 but there’s room for improvement,” said quarterback Aaron Rodgers. “At this point, we don’t need to win pretty every week. We’d like to. But they all count the same. We’ll take them all.”

McCarthy's record in games following a bye ... 8-1

Ah yes, the last time the Pack played a Gary Kubiak coached team with Wade Phillips as the DC was 2012.... Sunday Night game.  The Texans were 5-0 and the 2-3 Packers didn't have a chance.  That was an ass kicking.

Pack getting back several key contributors from injury in Morgan Burnett, Devante Adams, and BJ Raji, etc... a big deal. Raji , IMO, is the "lynch-pin" for this defense.

Not only is Peyton done, but Denver doesn't have a dominant running game. Ronnie Hillman or CJ Anderson scare anybody ? Just cover Emmanuel Sanders and Demarius Thomas and we can contain their offense.

Got a feeling McCarthy will game-plan a gem to move the ball on the vaunted Denver defense. Like our chances.
