Where are all the people that said earlier in the year, that EDS sucks and is not starter quality? Uncle Ted knows what he is doing.
Right here Chauncey. He's a good back up to very average starter. If they can win with him, fantastic.

I love him already.
EDS reminds me of Campen and Winters. Limited talent, but tough and smart. You can do a lot better, but you can also do worse. We saw that last season.
Fair assessment. I think Big Ern gets manhandled at times, particularly pass protection, which sends Rodgers scrambling. Winters was tougher in my opinion. Campen and Big Ern are birds of a feather. Overall, they play as a unit. I honestly expect to see someone else starting in 2 years though.
Tretter likely will be the guy. I was being generous simply due to him being injured this year. The interesting part will be seeing what TT values him at. I'm guessing contract terms will be reasonable.

âHeâs always been athletic and strong; he just wasnât able to have the mental part of the game down four years ago or whatever it was,â left guard Josh Sitton said. âAnd these past two years, heâs taken over mentally and taken over the whole mental part of the thing for the offensive line.âNow, when I have a question about another team, I go and ask Evan. Itâs his job as a center to be right 100 percent of the time and always know what the other team is doing, and heâs done that.â
Given that GB has absolutely no proven players behind him, I think the decision on EDS has shifted from whether GB will try to retain him, to how much are they willing to spend. While I think TT is willing to head into next years TC with just Tretter and whoever else (Barclay? GVR? UFA?) competing at C, I expect he would MUCH rather have EDS locked up. I think TT draws the line somewhere between 3-4M per year.
I'm guessing EDS will sign a deal similar to the one Lang got a few years ago.
Three years at a bit more than average starting center money. As long as Rodgers is comfortable with EDS and EDS keeps Rodgers upright, I don't think TT would let him walk for nothing. And from the comments of Sitton, it seems everyone is more comfortable with EDS than in the past. It would be interesting to know if Rodgers works with any other guys at center (GVR, Tretter) and what he thinks of them, you know, butt height and all...
A little less than TJ Lang money would be about right. If Big Ern (after 4 years ) has the mental aspect figured out to go along with his below average pass protection and improving run blocking then make the contract reasonable while Tretter/future draftees develop for a year or two to inevitably supplant him.
