When he was at Tennessee. Something about dragging his sack on a female trainers head.

That gets so overblown. He mooned a trainer and apparently she was scarred for life. He didn't sit on a trainer's face or teabag her, he mooned her. And she threw a big fit about it when the Mannings' book came out and described it as nothing. She sued them and nothing came of it.

Knowing Irsay's past Tweets, there's no reason this should be seen as anything but a joke. But the sad/comical thing with the never ending Favre saga is that no one would bat an eyelash if we saw him holding up a blue #4 jersey at a press conference this week.

Considering the idea of trading Flynn, Indy would make sense. They have a possible need for a immediate starter this year and Manning's career is winding down at age 35.

any female trainer that is NOT prepared to see some male ass in a training room has no business being there. played through a full college basketball season with a pulled groin that wouldn't heal cuz I wouldn't take the time off to let it. which meant every practice, every game going into the training room and dropping my shorts so that I'm only standing there in a jock so the trainer could wrap me up. I thought nothing of it and neither did the actual trainer who was female. But I remember a few female trainer interns being a little taken aback when I just dropped 'em.

I don't mean to make you think I'm making a big deal of it because I'm not. I'm no Manning or UT apologist, it's just a funny issue that comes up around Knoxville every once in a while and it makes me laugh. The anti-Manning fans around here love to bring this up and I've heard it morphed into he sat on the trainers face, he pinned her down and rubbed his a*shole on her, he teabagged a trainer, etc. I think the actual claim she made at the time was that he "exposed his naked rectum in my face" or something.

Wow. Such a great image to have burned into my head on a monday morning.

These guys are all plenty smart enough to use the media to further their own goals and given Indy's previously ultra-secret stances on sharing info, you have to ask yourself why they would change now- they did it for a reason.

Hey, if Favre can't sign with a team that plays us in the regular season, I'm sure he would jump at the opportunity for a preseason revenge game.

Jeff George apparently is holding out for those little sandwiches they had in "Spinal Tap." Irsay is playing hardball.

It's just a joke by Irsay, this is his tweet:

I think the Brad comment was directed at Childress for chasing Bert all over MS. If anyone know's all the shortcut's to Favre's house, it's Chilly.

For Manning, if he misses the first game of the season, it would interrupt his consecutive game starting streak. So unless he really thinks he can catch Favre, the best bet is to get well.

For Favre, what's the point. He doesn't care anymore or he would have put more effort into last season.

So if I were the Colts, developing a legit backup for Manning, for just such emergencies, should have been high on the list. But since it wasn't, I'd just do the best I could with what I have.

The Colts need to stop equating the team with Manning. He needs help to win and sometimes they need to be able to pay for that as well.

I was surprised when they let Jim Sorgi go. He was a good backup for them who earned a second contract. He seemed like the perfect 10 year backup for Manning.

As for Favre, these are comical stories, but anyone who saw him play last year knows he's done. No need for Bus Cook to tell us over and over what we all saw.

I think Bert may have also finally caught on to the fact he's become a punchline.

Painter is a joke for Indy. Bad things always seem to happen when he's in there. I'm really suprised Indy never developed a competent backup.

yes...but I thought he got hurt and wasn't the same....so, they went in another direction.

Sorgi...what a career....he's made enough money for a couple of lifetimes just being a back up....kudos to him

Being a smart, intelligent, QB with adequate skills will get you a great job as a backup...there's nothing wrong with that either...Zeke Bratkowski did the same thing...and he's revered probably just as much as if he was a starter.

One funny thing is, if Irsay were Actually In MS., Pevre Had to know about it--and think, "REALLY?"

And then he was probably upset and disappointed to think that it was all a business setup.

I hope it happens 31 more times!

I don't care what your feeling are about the guy, Favre as a color commentator is a terrible idea. I've listened to enough of his press conferences to know he's not exactly an eloquent speaker. He also pretty slow about spitting out sentences. Which is not to say he's dumb, but a broadcaster he is not. He has the potential to be Joe Montana bad.

He is being brought in to :

boost the football program / recruiting efforts
bring the spotlight to the university
begin rebuilding his image in a friendly environment
prepare for his eventual slot on bspn; they spent a lot of airtime ball-washing and its time to start getting a return on that investment

He will be bad, but no matter
His adoring fans will eat it up, his detractors will have plenty to pillory

and we'll be able to invent a new drinking game based on his aw-shucks favre-isms

Before 2008, I always thought Favre was a pretty charming guy, so I can see where some might think he'd bring some charm to the broadcasting booth.

The difference for me between now and pre-2008 is that now I realize that the image he portrayed was basically a lie and mostly phony. His charm doesn't fool me anymore even though it still fools some.

And I say that as someone that doesn't even hate or dislike him. Once in awhile I'll pop in an old Packer tape from the early '90s and you can't help but have liked the young version of Favre who really had great charisma despite his faults. It's just different now knowing what a phony he really is.
