Why would the Redskins get rid of Cousins in favor of McCoy? Cousins is 1000% better than McCoy, who I'm surprised is still able to find work in the NFL honestly. McCoy is a veteran and a camp body at this point.

There was talk that a 2nd or 3rd for Cousins should be well within reach, but that WAS thought they could land a first. Either way, I don't think I'd send him anywhere just yet until RG3 shows a complete recovery.

It's a shame because Cousins could actually be a solid QB IMO. He's not a game changer, but I think he could make a difference for a lot of teams. Jay Gruden has shown he can get some good results out of a moderately talented QB (see Andy Dalton), so I think he could really make Cousins into a good QB. Washington has some pieces, the only thing holding them back ironically is their QB. RG3 is a good passer and a talented player and maybe it was Mike Shannahan that was the problem, but I don't get the sense he's a guy who commands respect like Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. Not everyone likes Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady I'm sure, but those guys command a lot of respect because of how they perform and how they conduct themselves. It doesn't matter if it's within their own teams or around the league people recognize them as a franchise QB. I don't think RG3 is a bad guy or a punk, but I don't get the sense that many people, even in Washington, view him as a franchise QB.

Sounds like Matt Flynn may work out for the Giants.  I'm surprised GB hasn't signed him yet but maybe TT has another plan.  Josh Freeman is an option too but Flynn know the offense so well.  I'm hoping we have a #2 this season with more skill and experience than last season.

Yeah, but is it a good plan? Not TT's best work last year, his handling of the back up QB position.

Could be that Thompson has offered Flynn a deal. Something like 1 year at slightly above vet minimum - for his years in the league that's about $750k. I read last week that Flynn was probably wanting a 2 year deal averaging $1.25mm. Does Flynn have more than vet minimum value for anyone other than the Packers?

Unlikely! In fact, he is likely to regress.

Which in turn would set him up nicely to be the starting QB for the  in 2015.

I think Flynn  may have an offer from the Packers in his back pocket. He has not signed it becouse he is waiting to see what else another team may offer. Perhaps a chance to start maybe more money. This next contract may well be the last he gets.

After last year, I can't see what any other team would see in Flynn other than he is a fit for MM's system and that's about it. Harsh reality may slap him upside the head and he'll realize GB is his fit and resign. If not, I can see TT taking a flyer on a QB in the late, late rounds to join Tolzien for this year or signing another team's cut. Another year in the system should help Tolzien a lot, and I'll be disappointed if he crashes again.

fwiw, which ain't much

Per the league’s transaction wire, the Chargers waived linebacker Terrell Manning Monday.

They had claimed him off waivers from the Packers last summer, but he played in just one game for the Chargers last season.

HUGE NEWS Tdog!!

Honestly, I like seeing where these guys go & if they stay in the league.

Baalke of the 49'ers supposedly "threw his pen down" when TT drafted Manning just a few slots in front of the Niners. 5th round I believe.

Still ain't worth much

Flynn tries out fot the Giants today - along with Josh Freeman.  The difference between this stop and the others is that a former Packer coach is the OC.  A guy who knows Flynn.  So if it is even close between Freeman and Flynn, he would probably go with Flynn.

At least Flynn can get us through part of a game or keep us competitive. He's also essentially another QB coach given his knowledge of the offense.
