JMO…MLF is a tremendous offensive mind. But he is a gigantic pussy. He does not have enough asshole in him to be as effective as he needs to be. That’s a big reason Holmgren was the only HC to ever get the best from Bert…he knew how much sugar and how much stick to give him. Every coach after was a giant pussy and let him run the show.

I don't think the defense is world class and the offense has it's problems, but it is really early. If they can stay clear of  significant injuries, Aaron will improve at about the same rate as his hair will  improve from that haircut and they'll be okay. first round bye/home-field advantage hasn't worked out anyway.  A-rod  is way too good to not improve dramatically. MLF is a good coach.  Even 3-3 isn't a terrible mark...if it goes to 3-5, please disregard this post.,

How long before 12 starts ignoring his coach like he did his previous coach?

Remember a few years back when the Packers could be down 20 points at halftime and you knew they would take over the game and win in the second half?

That was awesome!

Wow, that seems like a long time ago!

Just always hate the way I feel after they lose.  Ugh…..won’t be able to watch sports all week again.  And living in MN with the damn queen fans, especially after they win???  Gonna be hell all week.  🤬 🤬 🤬

Positives:

I'm positive the Packers aint winning the Super Bowl

I'm positive if the Packers make the playoffs we will se a repeat of today

Silver Lining:

When you win ugly (Patriots) you tend to overlook some of your shortcomings (a win is a win.) When you lose a game to a team you should beat in front of that crowd by being dumbasses, you tend to respond in a "positive way"

Negs

Two sacks on 1st down wiped out by penalties.

Sitting back in a soft zone all day long when you have 3 excellent man cover corners.

The 2nd to last drive after the Giants tie it.  They respond to adversity by doing what they always do. They abandon the run and go 3 n out.

Passing the ball twice when it’s 2nd and 2 in the red zone with under 2 mins left.    Not only are you not using your best players for that situation you are potentially leaving time on the clock.   No excuse for that.

The shine was worn off MLF for me.   Too often he makes horrid play calls in key situations.   The inability to hire coordinators worth a shit.   I’m starting to wonder if he is as good as we thought he was.

Positives

No major injuries.

We really overrated him.

One stop on either the drive after the Packers went up 17-3 or the the drive when they were up 20-10 to start the second half would have changed the whole complexion of the game.

Unfortunately, the whole complexion theory, while completely true, is the case far too often. While the defense is culpable, the offense burned a timeout so they could take a sack and deny themselves a FG try, and the ensuing two offensive drives revealed the level of desperation and further put the defense in a hole. Idgaf if you don't score on every drive, but help out your other units. Rodgers/MLF/whomever put the nail in the coffin by taking two shots on first down with no regard to staying on schedule or moving the chains. It's understandable that they become frustrated, but responding in the same way that barely ever works is just downright stupid at this point. There is no Davante. Take wtf they give you and mount a methodical drive and turn the field to your team's advantage. RTFB. As much as any other factor, TOP and providing your defense with 15 seconds to turn around and come right back on the field lost this game, and it's become formulaic at this point.

That's been a recurring issue.

We'll get that fixed

For a guy not audibling he sure spends a lot of time barking instructions and moving players around. In the first half he looked really creative and in charge. In the second half, it looked like MM ball.

Right now I take Cooper Rush and MM ball over what we have

I'd take Dan Quinn and his attacking defense that is winning games for MM down in big D.

Instead, we get Rod Marinelli's son in law who already failed in Detroit and Washington.

MLF's inability to hire competent coordinators may end up being his undoing.

It’s funny you say that.  The way the Cowboys play with Rush at QB is the way I thought the Pack would play with no more Davante Adames.  But the Packers’ D looks worse than the Cowboys and Rodgers isn’t as willing to let the run game do it’s job as Rush is.

The Cowboys look vastly improved over the last couple years.  I actually wonder if they’ll take a step backwards when Dak comes back.  Sometimes he tries to do too much.

No, just saying that is the depths of our current underachievement. Pettine is a guy I feel sorry for ... we have significantly more talent on defense now than he had.

Or when Dom was here in his last few seasons.

We don't got any stinkin' ILBs. We don't need no stinkin' ILBs. (Well, the ILBs mostly did stink).

Watched MLF's presser and he never gets asked tough questions. He constantly spits out the same answers:  "we didn't execute,  we have to get better and it starts with me". I'd  love to hear someone ask "why did your defense not bring pressure or blitz more when the Giants were missing their 2 best receivers,  Jones was gimpy and they were without the NFL's leading rusher for most of the second half? "  Or "your special teams underperformed last year under the direction of a coach to whom you remained loyal, and it cost you an early playoff exit.  Are you disappointed in the defense under Joe Barry, and would you ever consider an in season change?"

If well groomed eyebrows helped win championships, we'd be all set, but I fear MLF shrinks when the spotlights are on.

Remember last year’s defense was awesome. They kept the Pack in every game. Joe Barry obviously can’t rest on his laurels cause Offensive play callers have been figuring him out this year, but don’t pretend that Barry was terrible from the start.

Ask tough questions and get banned from future pressers. That is where things are at.

Well, Barry was pretty terrible at the start (Remember the Saints game and 1st half vs the Lions to begin 2021).  They did play better after that to be fair.

Certainly the last 2 weeks have seemed like those first couple weeks of 2021 to be sure.

Barry's job is to make adjustments, and I haven't been impressed with his ability to do that. To let Daniel Jones constantly convert third downs with the same damn bootleg passes and runs is inexcusable.  When Barkley went out, Barry should have dialed up the pressure and let his corners handle those mediocre receivers instead of giving them all those underneath passes.

Barry is an improvement over Pettine, but last year the offense was much more potent, so the warts were not as apparent.

Offense this year is much less potent, therefore the defensive warts are glaring.

Time for MLF to gird his loins, channel his inner Kyle Shanahan, and tell Barry “fix it asshole!” or make the requisite changes. Barry has a fuck ton of draft capital to work with…figure it out!

I want to know who's actually deciding which plays to run. If Rodgers has a run/pass option on every play, then is Rodgers is calling his own number way too often, or is MLF just that boneheaded? No way should a QB be chucking it down the field three times in a row just because the game is tied or the other team scored when there's that much clock left. That smacks of desperation.

Right now, I think Rodgers is running the show much more than we think. MLF is covering so it doesn't look like he's lost control of the team, but it's in Rodgers' hands now.

@RochNyFan Well said. I wasn’t responding to anyone in particular, just in general to speaking in absolutes about Barry. He needs to do better. Hopefully he can figure it out, because he’s the guy for now.

Bills game could be really ugly. Josh Allen is playing at another level. My CEO has Bills' Club Section season tickets and invited me to the game and I very politely declined. Don't want to lose my job when, inevitably, I will get really pissed off, lol.

I'm not sure that he is. Barry had Campbell playing LB. Pettine tried to get by with guys like Martinez and Kirksey. It's a big difference.

That's been the case since Gutey had a deal worked out to trade Rodgers to Denver for a slew of draft capital & Murphy wouldn't let it happen because he was afraid the "fans" would send the pitchforks at him.

Whoops.....did I just say that out loud? 🤭
