Non-stop to Green Bay.

We'd like you to compete for a kicking position on our NFC North champion team. Think you can beat out the incumbent? We'd sure enjoy having you in for a tryout

I don't think "bringing in heat" is going to fix the problem. Crosby didn't suddenly forget how to kick a football. It's in his head. Adding other variables into his head problem isn't going to do him any good.

I'm not worried about how it will affect crosby. I just want someone who can do an adequate job.

Kickers don't usually break out of these massive slumps in the middle of the season. They have to go home, study the tape, and do a lot of thinking. Longwell had one of these years back in 2001, and he broke out of it, in 2002...
How often does GB, especially TT, quit on their players? Think about it for a second. It's an extremely rare occurrence. If they have stuck with Crosby through this so far, I'd expect that trend to continue.
I'd rather bring back Green Bay Packers all time leading scorer Ryan Longwell. I don't care if he was a Viking, so was Gilbert Brown at one time. He was 22of 28 last season and will have a fresh leg too. Oh I know somebody will complain about short kick-offs, big deal.

You sound like you are president of the Mason Crosby fan club. Lets be realistic.
It is time to replace this guy if you really want to try to make a serious run in the playoffs. You can not go for it at the 20 or 30 yard line everytime and be taken seriously in the playoffs.
Who cares if it is in his head or his leg or his back , whatever. The bottom line is he is not doing the job. It is time to find someone who can and will do the job. These guys are out there. It is a matter of finding the right one. It is called tryouts. If MM was not so damn stubborn, he might make the change that needs to be made. That is his biggest problem as a coach. Too nice and afraid to make a change.
If Longshank is the replacement kicker he has to wear a purple V and he is banned from Applebees in Wisconsin until he retires again.

WE can think about whether he is allowed smoking at Kwik trip.
I was in Crosby's camp as well a couple weeks ago, but after today I'm fine if they bring in someone else.

The only thing Crosby is consistent at is kicking into the end-zone. For years it seemed we had nobody to get it deeper than the 5 yard line.

We just cant be missing 40 yard FGs (TWO of them) at this time of year.
Bungles picked up Josh Brown last week and the Bears picked up Mare. There are other guys out there still who are competent. Crosby can't even make relative chipshots anymore. I don't know what it's going to take to realize that he cannot be relied upon.
Dearest jcall,

I'm offering up a different perspective. I know the guy has sucked. He's sucked for several weeks now and MM has steadfastly stood by his side. I expect that to continue based on previous history of how GB supports their own players.

I'm sure our nice and stubborn coach has a good idea of how to win football games, evaluate personnel and make decisions.
I just don't see the Packers bringing in a new kicker with 2 regular season games to go. Doesn't seem the Packers way to do business.

Having said that, the Packers are in a tough position. Coaches no longer have confidence in Crosby, and Crosby has no confidence in himself.
Yet, he is a proven kicker in the league and can snap out of it at any time.

Question is, can MM afford the risk? Sooner than later MM is going to be faced with the situation of game on line with the decision to kick or not. In that situation, can Crosby even make a 40 yard kick? He couldn't today. 2x.

Big problem heading into playoffs.

I'd replce him first and if they aren't going to do that, go for 5 and 6 and repeat. I'll drive to Green Bay and administer #6 myself.
