Hold the **** up!! I thought we just needed to massage Crosby's ego a little more.

What? The Bears signed Olindo Mare and and he didn't miss a 35 yard chip shot?

We must all be irrational!

Get the man a god damn whore if that's what it takes to get his head straight. Otherwise, STFU about "some more time".

It will look real good leaving 3/6/9 points on the field come playoff time.

Finley, Crosby. Bye bye.

Those stats don't include the two he missed yesterday and that first one he missed, he missed so bad it wasn't even funny. And the 50+ that he made was back on September 13th. Since then he's been 0 for 7.

With a salary of $2,400,000 and 17 field goals made, it's costing the Packers $141,176.47 per field goal.

This. We 'discussed' it a bit in chat today.
The bottom line is, a guy who wasn't even in the league a week or 2 ago can make FGs that our veteran kicker can't.
There is NO excuse anyone--including our coaches--can make to cover that fact up. NONE. Period.
As crazy as it may sound, we don't have anything to lose by signing a street FA. It sure as hell can't be any worse than what's happening now. A missed FG is a missed FG whether it's Crosby or someone else.
And I don't give 2 chits about Crosby's confidence or feelings. The man has 1 job to do, and he's failing miserably. Team before individuals.
What is the league average for kickers? Certainly it's a lot better than someone that is hitting 59% of their FG attempts.

They have to do something. Mark my words- it will cost them a game, perhaps a playoff game, if they don't address this. They can't go for it on every possession.

Don't know who is available out there and I'm sure it's been mentioned already but Olindo freaking Mare drilled two FGs yesterday in the slop and poor conditions. Our guy was 0/2
Updated with yesterdays misses from 42 and 43.

Twice as many attempts from 30-39 and 40-49 last year, and he was perfect on the shorter distance and basically the same (%) from the 40-49 distance. Did not realize they only attempted 3 from 50+ last year.

Interesting stats H5.

Before yesterday he was 84.2% inside of 50 yards. Now he is down to 76% which isn't too hot.

Part of the difference this season lies with McCarthy sending him out there 8 times already for 50+ yard kicks and 18 times over 40 yards.

He only attempted 8 kicks of over 40 yards all of last season.
I actually cut him a little slack before yesterday since the problem was almost solely limited to 50+ yarders. He's missed more from 50+ than about 30 teams have even attempted. While I agree that NFL kickers need to hit from 50+ when called upon, I believe the league average is about 4 attempts on the year from that distance, so most coaches still don't see it as a gimmie.

That said, yesterday's kicks were as awful as they were manageable.
Jason Wilde McCarthy, asked by @PackersReport if he still feels the same about @crosbykicks2: "Yes."

Jason Wilde ‏McCarthy on if Crosby's struggles have affected strategy decisions: "Fourth-down is something we game plan every week."

Jason Wilde ‏McCarthy on what players are thinking about misses: "I'm not going to sit here and act like everybody's not watching how this is handled."
I understand that MM likes to demonstrate loyalty and support his guys, but this is getting ridiculous. Crosby has some serious issues right now, and I fear that those issues will cost us in the playoffs. And if Cosby were to cost us a game in the playoffs, would anyone be surprised?

MM owes it to the other players on the team to make a change. In the process, he can give the team a lesson about accountability.

Find something wrong with Crosby, put him on IR, and bring in a more reliable kicker. Let him compete for the job next year.
