You can't IR a guy that isn't injured. I'm pretty sure a that not mentally being able to make a FG counts as injured.

IR Crosby, let him get his act together and compete for the job in camp next year. They're on the hook for his salary anyway....
AFAIK you can't IR a guy that ain't hurt
A couple of shotgun blasts will fix that.

We could bring in another kicker and have 2 on the roster for the last 2 weeks. I mean we did carry 2 punters for a whole season once. I'm talking only 2 games.
Not the worst idea.

And which non injured player do you cut?
Rackers in Cincy was awful. I know he got better after that but he sucked in Cincy.

How about the kid that dropped the lateral pass on the punt? Who knew he was even on the team?

God I hate that mfer.
can we IR Crosby due to a serious head injury
The fact that he is even out there playing on special teams tells you they are lacking bodies.
I don't cut anybody, I put Donald Driver on IR.
is the yips covered by medical? If so, TT may be able to sell that as an injury to the NFL front office.

The droolers would be out with torches and pitchforks. Not a bad idea, though.

Now there's an original thought. Dumdum
Did I hear that Crosby's coach changed the number of steps he takes? Maybe not, but if so WHY?

Call it severe depression. I know that's what I'll have if he causes us to lose a game.
Can we IR fans for sprained vaginas?

$5,000 in hundreds.....
ON the other hand, Rackers is a career 80%, maybe he is an upgrade but most of that was in warm weather.

How often does GB, especially TT, quit on their players? Think about it for a second. It's an extremely rare occurrence. If they have stuck with Crosby through this so far, I'd expect that trend to continue.
That's fine. Bring someone else in that can make a 40 yard FG
It's disgusting for god sakes. He's going to cost us a game & I'll never forgive MM or TT is he's the kicker & costs us in the playoffs
Longwell's experience kicking at Lambeau has to enter into the equation. I believe he has more fgs than any other kicker in Packer history. With the opening playoff game at Lambeau that's a big consideration. I'd have confidence in Longwell from 35 and in. I worry about Crosby on extra points.
No roster spot has to go yet. Bring in a kicker or two for tryouts. If they pan out sign one and release Crosby. You don't need to release anyone with a tryout. If we don't have confidence in Crosby now it's over. You don't IR him and bring him back. What would that do to his confidence. I think we will release him and he will catch on with another team and still have a good career after he works this out. But, now if not the time for the Packers to be letting him work it out.
Call Jeff Gillooly before calling Rackers. Then Mason can legitimately be IR'd.
go for it or punt
Worked today.
Go or punt. Our D is proving we would benefit from the field-position game. Pin them back and give our O a short field. You can bring someone else in to try to shake up Crosby, but sign someone new? Eh.

Disgusting is a good word for it. It may even be kind.
You can argue it cost them the game against the Colts. He missed 2 and they lost by 3. That last kick to tie the game at the end was one of the worst in NFL history.
He's missed kicks in 8 straight games, which is almost impossible these days.
Clearly it is not impossible.
Is Brett Conway available?
Keep him for kickoffs and add a kicker for FGs...it's been done before. Any kicker who can reliably kick a 40 yarder will do. Unfortunately, if you bring someone else in and cut him, kickoffs may suffer significantly. Farther out than 40's, punt or go for it depending on the situation.
Can Masthay kick FGs? (I suppose it would be fun to watch at least.)
He's the holder.
He's so good he can hold and kick at the same time!
Harrell or Coleman could hold.
(I wasn't entirely serious; but I still think it would be fun to watch just for the sh*ts and giggles.)

Can Crosby hold? Or would he 'shank' catching the snap?
I've been supporting Crosby through this slump, but his performance today was beyond ridiculous. The first couple weeks of the slump I gave him a pass because slumps happen, mentally strong players come out of them and finish strong. Some people gave the technique excuse or that he was kicking too hard, but he's had plenty of time to fix it.
If Olindo Mare, who has hardly any leg strength, can come in and make some chip shot FGs, then any vet Kicker can. You're not bringing in the guy to be a Pro Bowler and make a bunch of 50+ yarders, but honestly who has confidence Crosby will make even the chip shot 20-40 yard kicks? I don't want to get into the playoffs and have to rely on Crosby to tie or win the game. I will take Rodgers getting the ball inside the 30 for Longwell or Rackers or whoever over Crosby making any kick.
Come up with an injury (I think non-football injury is applicable), shelve Crosby on IR and sign a vet to finish the season.

You're describing a Drop Kick and I would trust Masthay to make that over Crosby right now.
I would bring in another guy for 45 yards and in and keep Crosby for kickoffs. You can't underestimate the value on kickoffs. These guys who are free agents will not have the leg to consistently kick off into the end zone.

So, two roster spots for place kickers?
The go for it or punt thing is nice until you are on the 30 yard line with 3 seconds left and you are losing by 2. Would be nice to be able to kick a FG in that position.
Sign Kaeding and let Crosby have 2 or 3 weeks off to recharge. Don't want to count on Kaeding in January.

Suh can and has kicked for Gawds sake.....someone, somewhere can be relied on to kick a freakin field goal. As has been mentioned, this may well cost the Pack a game and unless there is something we don't know (injury?) a move must be made.
4th and 6 will only work once in a while.
