I missed BJ Raji’s late game pick six against the Bears in the 2010 playoffs because Spectrum cable decided to start cutting out again. I called and cancelled the next day.
@justanotherpackerfan posted:The cable provider here in western Wisconsin dropped Bally in January. We subscribed to Bally this year to get the Brewer games. I hated having to dish out extra money but we watch too many games to just give it up cold turkey.
If the Bally app was more reliable I would subscribe to watch Bucks games. Im not paying 20 bucks a month to have the app shit itself and deny me games.
Not like you've got many more Bucks games to worry about for the next several months.
@mrtundra posted:I wonder if other cable outlets are doing this with the other Bally Sports franchises? Anyone here with Bally Sports Wisconsin or another Bally Sports franchise? Bally Sports North was the home of the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Wild and sometimes the vikings' broadcasts. It would appear that is no longer the case.
Definitely happened to Bally Sports Detroit as well. No more Tigers, Pistons, or Red Wings to Comcast customers in the Michigan market. This is stupid.
So what was the big announcement about Prime carrying the Brewers? I have not found them on there yet.

It looks like it will be in time for the next NBA season.
TV Answer Man, do you know when Amazon will start selling the Bally Sports channels? — Jimmy, Detroit.
Jimmy, Diamond Sports, the owner of the Bally Sports regional sports networks, announced in January that Amazon has agreed to invest in the company. If the deal is approved by Diamond Sports’ bankruptcy court, which is likely, it will allow Amazon’s Prime Video to sell the streaming version of the Bally Sports RSNs. (Diamond Sports declared bankruptcy in March 2023 and is nearing completion of a reorganization plan.)
Diamond said in a recent bankruptcy court filing that it expects the Amazon deal to close in October, which would precede the opening of the NBA and NHL seasons. The RSN company still has the streaming rights to more than 25 NHL and NBA teams for the 2024-25 season. If the Amazon-Diamond Sports agreement is closed by October, look for Amazon to begin offering the Bally Sports channels soon thereafter. And when it does, they won’t be called Bally Sports. Diamond and Bally have said their naming deal will soon end.
I believe the Twins contract, with BSN, was set to expire. Some Twins fans hoped MLB network would pick up their games. Not sure how that would work.
Back in the day, we were lucky to get three channels ... and we liked it!
PS: Spectrum sucks2.

When I was a kid, we got three main stations out of Duluth, MN, plus the PBS station that was there. My Dad installed a rotary antenna, on our roof and even then, we could not pick up the Eau Claire TV broadcasts, at all. Once, when it was overcast out west, we picked up a TV station from Pocatello, Idaho, clear as a bell. Sure as shit, they did not have any Packer games on either. LOL.
One time, in Wisconsin, I picked up a station out of New Mexico on a 13" B&W TV. Clouds must've been sitting perfectly to bounce that signal all the way to Wisconsin.

No way I'd pay that unless all games were available. I know you would still run into blackout restrictions which is beyond stupid in 2024.
I paid $74.99 for all MLB teams (except AZ) as well as the minor league affiliates through the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. In the past, you could pay the $25 for their yearly membership and that gave you a 50% discount the MLBTV (reg $149.99). So the total yearly cost was $99.99 for all teams. This year, however, you could only get the discount link if you were already a MLBPAA member from last year. So I was able to pay the $25 and get the discount link again.
There's some info in this thread About IPTV apps.
I'll urge everyone to research it; it's been incredible for us.
I'm nowhere near smart enough to tell anyone anything about it, nor can I comment on the legality of it. I can say I certainly don't GAF.
My SIL installed an iptv app (in my specific case, iptv smarter's) on our Firestick at Christmas, and I haven't missed a live sporting event, for any reason, since then. Ditto for live PPV events.
Apparently, it's loaded with movies and series as well as many other news, entertainment, and sports channels. Not only from the US, but countries literally around the world.
We got a 6 month free trial that expires at the end of June, so I'm anxious to see what renewal costs are. SIL thinks it's approximately $66. If that is the case, that's the end of cable TV for me. Finally.
Should anyone use this or a similar app, I would think that would be the end of any DTV, YTTV, or similar subscriptions.

Ugh, they’re talking about billions of dollars, 18.6 to be exact in 2022………just makes me sick.
And the article just touched on the effect local control has on fans. I hope things change, for the better. Somehow, I doubt they will. I would love to have the ala carte option that was talked about in the article, where I live. Again, I'd need to see what local control has to say about that before I would even think of investing the money.
It looks like a deal is close. Both the Brewers and Bucks would be covered.
