Yes, agreed, Tobin, it is sad. But I will never bet against this team. Win or lose, I love the Packers, and watch every game (now on the computer if I can't see it on TV); I am steadfast in my support. I might be a little nuts at times, but I bleed green and gold, always will.

Amen. I am amazed at the last 20 years. I remember Chester Marcol. I remember Rich Campbell throwing the winning pass to Phillip Epps against the Bears. At no time other than the Packers playing the Cowboys in the Strike season did I ever thing the Packers had what it took to make any noise. That team was pretty good. These teams are amazing compared to them. Since 89 or 93 this team has been on fire. I have pictures of myself in the seventies in Packer garb (thank my parents). It is in my DNA. Love the Packers. This team has the ability to be a team of legend. At the beginning of the season it was in sight but in the middle of the season who would have thought? I love this. This night has been a lot of fun. GO PACK!!!!

My first Packer game was against the Rams in 82 or 83, against Ferragamo and Dickerson at County Stadium. We won that game, and my love of the Packers (at 11 years old) was kicked up to a whole new level. At that point, my memories were of David Whitehurst. I didn't know any better having missed the glory years.

10 years ago, when we held a family reunion at Coons Franklin Lodge, the flight from Milwaukee to Green Bay (a little prop jet) flew right over Lambeau Field. "Titletown" was clearly visible. I wanted to grab a parachute, and jump out, and kiss the holy ground. That is my Mecca.

The Packers could go 0-16 every year, and I will still cheer for my team every week until I am hoarse. I appreciate the past, now more than ever as I find great joy in learning just what has made the Green Bay Packers the greatest team in sports. And the level of excitement I feel knowing what greatness this team might achieve...it's hard to sit still. I am literally vibrating with positive energy.

Hiring Harlan in itself was a gigantic move. The morons running the team after Lombardi left made stupid mistakes at every single critical juncture up until he was hired. Let's give Harlan some credit, if he hired some clueless dope to replace him, Thompson and McCarthy both could have been fired after the 6-10 record in '08 or when our team was 4-4 midway in '09 when BrINT was flying high. It could be 1975 all over again if he didn't find a quality guy like Murphy.
I've been one of McCarthy's most vocal critics, especially the last couple of months, and I'll stand up right now and say that I'm impressed. This is 4 games in a row now that he's called a damned good game, and kept the boneheaded clock management issues and dumb in-game adjustments to a minimum.

Whether this means he's matured to another level as a coach, or is just having a good month, remains to be seen, but right now I'll take it - and appreciate it - 1 week at a time. I've gained a lot of respect for him these past few weeks, and next week, he gets a chance to impress me all over again.

Defense was holding teams to 20 points or less and for whatever reason the offense underperformed many weeks this season. They should have been outscoring teams.

Tonight was awesome.

Gebins to the offense.

SCORE SOME POINTS!!!!!!

Got to disagree with you a bit here FreeSafety. Is it any conincidence that most seem to trust MM has occured just as Starks came on the scene? Not to me. This team really missed Ryan Grant. That is the reason 40+ was not put on the scoreboard on a regular basis. Going 4 and even 5 wide made up for the loss of Finley, it took a long time to find a way to make up for the loss of Grant. IMO IMHO JMHO

And the only difference has been the results. The playcalling was fine all along.

There's a big difference between saying that MM is a worthless POS and saying that he is a good but not great coach. It is wrong to say that as a good coach he does not have the ability to become a great coach (just as with any player, coach, or GM). He has put to rest many concerns in the last few games, but let's not start acting like anyone who complained about him (clock management, decision making in close games, playcalling, tolerance of bad coaching by his subordinates) was totally off base. Seems like you're patting yourself on the back a little too hard. He's a good coach who is well on his way to becoming a great coach. He's not there yet, but he's done a lot in the last few weeks. You may have believed in him all along, but let's not act like it was so ridiculous for others to question him based on his performance at times.

The doubters are on record.

The supporters are on record.

Of course there's room to move, and move's been roomed.

If you really don't like what he's doing, own it.

Cop out post.

You talking to me? If so I'm patting MM on the back, not me.

I'm just saying his playcalling has not suddenly changed. It's been fine all along. Nothing has changed in that area since the team was 8-6.

Execution across the board has improved. Also helps to have Starks in there.
BJ Raji as a lead blocker on short yardage isn't a change?
A lot of passing out of the inverted wishbone isn't a change from the telegraphed runs out of that formation?
Much less empty backfield in short yardage isn't a change?

BS

My only playcalling complaint has been about short yardage playcalling. And he's improved quite a bit in that area lately.

I think MM was pretty bad at that this year.

Scheme, formations, personal groups...MM is top notch.

IMO his offense has underperformed this season.

James Starks didn't put up 48 points last night. The rest of those guys have been on the team all year.

Overall, a lot more positives than negatives when it comes to MM.

You guys trying to paint every poster with any kind of complaint as an all out MM hater are wrong.
Bless me Father, for I have sinned...

Yes, I thought TT was a idot for not finding a vet to fill in for Grant.

Yes, I thought MM's play calling at times was too conservative and predictable.

Yes, I thought MM's clock mgmnt would cost us games..and still might.

Yes, I can't figure why MM doesn't can Slocum and get a coach who can make our coverage teams stop allowing big returns (even to LINEMEN!)

Yes, I thought we were hosed when Finley went down. And I thought Quarless was hopeless. I was wrong.

Great job, MM and TT! ...but I still think to go all the way, we'd better work on clock mgmnt, kick/punt coverage, and more consistency by Crosby. Sorry, but to achieve great things you need to aim high.

Am I absolved now, Blair?

The intent of this thread was/is almost entirely directed at the 4/5/6 people who routinely only showed-up in game threads to spew doom and gloom, only to disappear when things go well. If I've helped chase them off, then yes, I'd like to pat myself on the back. I've got no qualm with anybody who questions MM or TT for that matter.

Am I nuts, or does this sound like a good idea?

Yes
