I honestly don't think it's that big of switch with the personnel. The only question would be finding a good DE fit.

I think you get more out of Daniels, Worthy, Perry as pass rushers in a 4-3. Possibly put Worthy at DE with his burst. Pickett, Raji and Wilson solid run stuffers and with less gap assignments you may see Raji in the backfield more. Bishop as a MLB, Matthews is going to be good at LB or DE. Brad Jones isn't a horrible fit for SSLB.

You've got some scrub LBers right now that need an upgrade. Change focus to DE and see what shakes out. You may be able to get away with less than stellar LB depth if you have big boys putting heat on and a solid plugger MLB and Matthews flying off the edge.
That's a good point, but I really question whether the read and react really is going to become very widespread. There are only 3 quarterbacks in the league right now who seem to have the skillset to run it, and 1/3 of those quarterbacks are already injured and probably won't even play next season. It's something we need to be prepared for when we do run up against it, but I don't see where it will ever get to the point where we need to design an entire defense around it.
Are people seriously talking about Lovie f-ing Smith on the Packers' staff??? That's just ore stupidity. One, Lovie wouldn't do it. But two, the Packers are a 3/4 roster. You change DC if you bring in someone who runs 3/4 in a way you like better or you don't change at all. Unless Capers retires or bows out, he will be this team's DC next year.

The team needs speed. That's TT's job in 2013...
In this type of 3-4 defense, where the job of the d-line is to keep the 0-line off the LB and let the LB's run free to make plays, Capers suffers from a lack of talent at LB. Hawk, Jones, Smith, Zombo, Walden, Moses, Francois---they hardly ever make a play at the line of scrimmage or on the other side. Bishop can do that, but is a liability in coverage. So, Capers gets somewhat of a pass.

However, from JSO today:

"As players are wont to do, the Packers defend Capers and his staff to reporters, refusing publicly to turn on the same guys who helped them win Super Bowl rings. But it was also clear after the loss what players were speaking of when they said they were out-schemed and underprepared against 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the read-option plays he used en route to breaking the NFL record for quarterback rushing yards with 181:

If it is true that he didn't prepare for the read-option, and his only "adjustment" at halftime per Woodson and Raji was to "play better", it's time for him to move on. The argument against him was that his defense was always good years 1-2, and then got worse every year after. We actually improved from last years clown show defense, but the underpinnings of that improvement were always suspect. If it turns out he didn't prepare the defense for the QB and offense we faced this weekend, he should be fired.

If you are saying this because its a demotion, fine. If you are saying it's because of the Bears/Packers rivalry, you're insanely naive.

So, we're stuck with a 3-4 for the rest of eternity?

Agreed with that.
There was anj article a few years back, and someone touched on it in thsi thread, that Comper's Defenses in teh first three years, are very good statistically (in the top 10-15), and progressively get worse. Check the numbers at all of the places he's been a DC, and after year 3, the D falls (statistically) very fast to the bottom of the pack.

If the reports are right, that very few adjustments were made, and that we were out schemed, thats not good. But let's not lose sight of the fact, that the team we played had MULITPLE pieces to beat us (Top 5 TE, Top 5 RB, and a QB who is extrememly fast runner). Throw in the a couple of better than average WR's, and there are a ton options you must defend. Maybe the game plan was to let Copernicus beat us, we executed the game plan, and the QB beat us???? Verenon Davis was shut down for most of the night, and Gore wasn't as shut down as we wanted, but he didn't have any huge runs. We didn't do a good job on shutting down their decent WR's, but looking at it from a broader perspective, there was one guy on that team, who beat us, possibly our game plan, and he did.

Grave Digger has refuted this a few months back.

I must have missed that, GD is usually on top of his game, and I like reading his takes.

I'll say it again. What is Winston Moss, Asst HC, to this team?

Yeah -- I don't get it. He seemed like a hot commodity one year so they threw the Asst HC title to him to keep him. But based on what we've seen, how good can he be?

Internally, I'm not too excited by any of these guys taking over for Capers. They all seem to have a hand in these performances. But of them, I have the most respect for Whitt...at least he seems to have done a pretty good job coaching some of the young guys like Shields, House, Hayward, etc.

Externally, a guy like Horton would be great, but I don't know if you can get him as a lateral move. Ditto for a guy like Tucker in Jacksonville. What about Eric Mangini? He's one of the few talking heads on tv who actually makes sense. Plus I'm sure him and MM/TT could share some great Favre stories.
