Today's WSSP The Big Show 3PM interviewing Mike Clemens, "Remember what Lynn Dickey said about the Lombardi Golf Outing... about Brett? (sigh) He said guys know that they've got to come here and work, sign autographs, you've got to meet the fans, say hi to the sponsors. And some people come with their entourage, and they just kind of golf and don't talk to the media, and they don't want to talk to any fans. And he basically said... yeah that's Brett Pevre. And it's like look, you can't just come here and just golf, just sit in the clubhouse and not meet the fans. Or there's no reason for you to be there, really. And he hasn't come back there since. We'd love to have him come. But you have to be there for the fans, not just sit there in the clubhouse."

F&*^ Brett Pevre. That horse's ass traitor prima donna.

before his Minnesota debacle I would have made sure I made his retirement ceremony in Lambeau and cheered until I went into a tizzy., Whatever that is. Now, I will give him a polite applause for his accomplishments but curse him under my breath for being a fraud to the fans who lived and died with him through his pill addiciton, fathers death, spitting up blood and not coming off the field, and going on the field after a concusion and throwing a touchdown pass. I will shake my head in amazement the way I did watching him play but this time it will be for being a disingenuous lowlife who will probably say all the right things but know deep down he doesnt mean any of it.

Except we will have to see his name up on the Ring of Honor beside such honorable men as Bart, Ray and all the others.

From ESPN article:

The return won't be complete until Favre actually visits Lambeau Field. To that end, he said he would like to come back for a game this season and then threw out the idea of joining fellow former Packers quarterback Bart Starr for a ceremonial coin toss.

Of course he wants to stand beside Bart Starr. No one and I mean no one will boo Bart.

Obviously you didn't watch the Packers in the 70's

I agree---other than the crazy buy out thing, the Packers have handled the Favre departure and return as well as could be expectedâ€Ķ.the other thing that was pointed out is that Bert felt screwed over by the Packers...

I had the pipe put to me by the agency I worked for 22 years---I'm not crying, I feel that, unfortunately, my experience has become the norm of the last 15 yearsâ€Ķ.but I tell you whatâ€Ķdespite my love for many of my clients of that agencyâ€Ķif the agency said: "Hey Johnson, time has passed,  we'd like to honor your service hereâ€Ķwe'd like to provide a scholarship or name a bathroom in your honor"â€ĶI'd politely tell them to EFF themselvesâ€Ķyou'd think Bert might have similar feelings.

When you worked for that agency, did you quit, then decide you wanted to come back after they had already hired your replacement?

Did the agency then find you a comparable job somewhere else so that you could then quit again a year later and then go to work for their #1 or #2 competitor?

Bert should be kissing the feet of everyone that allows him back to Lambert Stadium.

One could make the argument they were lucky he didn't demand a trade the day they drafted Rodgers and were also fortunate he waffled towards playing for the first few years of 12's career.  Rodgers was by no means ready and the team wasn't in position on the cycle of development to handle an immature rookie at the most important position.

I don't think Harlan is doing Mike and Ted any favors by making comments like "It's tough to have someone say, you're finished" on the eve of a season when they need to focus on football. A reporter is going to ask MM to comment on this.  It's also glossing over the details.  MM will brush it aside in 5 seconds, but still.

And asking Deana several times if she was on board?!?!?!?!?!?   **** Deana Favre.

Do I qualify for any gubermint handouts?

The PR machine is already rolling SJ...take a look around the web.  Favre is the most publicized figure in the history of the mighty Green Bay Packers.  The football world has been mesmerized by Favre for a few decades.  There is going to be a huge build up to the ceremony and Lord Favre will be front and center once again.  It's simply going to happen whether any of us like it or not...

I'm thinking I'd give Favre some lukewarm applause, but wow have that guys flaws as a human being ever been exposed these past 6 years.  I always knew he was a bit flawed (Favre tried to pick a fight with a buddy of mine at a Green Bar in early 1993). Honestly, he is far more flawed and more of a jackwagon than I could ever imagine.

Loved his play on the field from 1992-1997 and that's why I'd give a mild clap to him when he comes out, but I'll always think of him differently after these past 6 years of seeing his character flaws exposed (among other things that were exposed!!!).

Personally, I'd give polite applaus, definitely not cheer and surely not boo. Applaus for all the good times and great moments as a Packer, yet remembering his flaws as a human.

Interesting: the JSO poll with over 3,000 votes has 89% cheering and 11% booing. And the GBPG poll had only about 7% (as of this morning) against retiring his number with everyone else saying overdue, just the right timing or sometime in the future.

Its OK to have a minority opinion, but the vast majority of Packer fandom supports Brett's Packer HOF induction and number retirement. I'm sure by the time the media gets done supporting it, and every source I've seen supports it, by next July the percentage against it will likely be a very small percentage.

Edit: "I'd give a mild clap to him when he comes out" fightphoe93, bet he's already had a couple doses of mild clap, or worse. But whether or not he comes out your more than welcome to give him another mild clap.

Yes I watched the Packers in the 70's.  And yes there were boos and I'm sure some were directed at Bart. But more were probably directed at the lack of effort put out by some players. And we all know it was Dan Devine that really caused most of the problems Bart had with his trade of the Packers future for John Hadl.

At any rate, no one would boo Bart now.

They didn't quite pay me what Bert got either---I was pointing out, very badly I might add, his narcissism and misguidance of accepting such royal treatment after being such a turd to the organizationâ€ĶA person of any integrity would not want a place of honor in a place he scorned or felt done him bad.

I can't honestly say how I'd react until I was actually in the moment. I know I wouldn't boo but I don't think I'd cheer Favre either. Maybe lite applause but I lost a lot of respect for him towards the end of his career. Attn Favre, Packer brass, reporters etc: DON'T tell me how to feel, to "move on" or try to define what a "true" Packer fan is. Just STFU and maybe I can reminisce on the good ol' days of Favre, Reggie et al.

Just a golf clap.

Favre could have gone a long way to continue to erase the ill will.  Then he doesn't show up for this event but calls in (despite they've probably finalized a deal worth 10's of millions).  I am instantly reminded of the past and how everything had to be catered to him.

Moving forward I can now only notice all of the things the Packers Corporation can't cover up that point to his prima donna attitude and hopefully will only stew about it.  We need to move on and put this behind us, so I'll clap politely, but that's it.
