BTW, if you listened to WSSP's interview of Mark Murphy yesterday (or maybe the day before), he could hardly admit Harlan had anything to do with unruffling Pevre's chicken feathers. Just that Harlan was "helpful". Probably because Murphy controls the purse strings now so he could be the Daddy Warbucks buying off Pevre, not Harlan. This chit is all about money, Folks. Honor and Principle be damned.

Just another drone who has no ties to real Packer fans. They better damn well retire Hornung's number before Pevre's. Heck, Hornung was NFL Player of the Year in 1960 and 1961 and in '60 scored 176 points in 12 games which is insane.

Why not make the criteria for retiring a players number their election in the NFL Hall of Fame? Putting a players name on the ring of honor of could be the same criteria or not.  I say retire his number for his play on the field but don't put his name on the ring of honor because his behavior before, during and after his exit wasn't honorable.

On the plus side, gives us more time for a potential sex scandal.

Cheer for all the good times he gave me (and my kids), but nowhere near as loudly as I would have been before everything hit the fan when he "unretired" and tried to push himself back to the front of the line, after Aaron and the team and the coaches had built their whole new offense around Aaron.  And nowhere near as loudly as I would have before he showed how exceptionally far his personal character fell beneath, for example, Bart Starr.

Of course he wants to stand beside Bart Starr. No one and I mean no one will boo Bart.

Obviously you didn't watch the Packers in the 70's

You mean when Starr had ribitis?

What would that accomplish?

ESPNWisconsin:  One last thing. Brett Favre was certainly talked about a lot this summer, with the news that he’s returning to the fold here. He mentioned communicating with Ted, and he said he has been in contact with Mark Murphy and Bob Harlan. He didn’t say anything about you. I always wondered if, because you were the one who had that intense final meeting with him during the summer of 2008 right here in this office, if that impacted that. That because you two were yelling at each other and so on …

McCarthy:  Did you write that? That whole time, I was never in a yelling match with him.

ESPNWisconsin:  I don’t know, I wasn’t in here. I was standing at the loading dock. But I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in here for it, that’s for sure. But I always got the feeling that you had to be the ‘heavy’ during that whole thing.

McCarthy:  Oh, I was the point man, there’s no question about that.

ESPNWisconsin:  So where is your relationship with Favre now?

McCarthy: It’s good. I’m looking forward to seeing him again. We’ve communicated. I’m excited about him coming back. I am. I have no ill feelings toward Brett Favre. At all. I was blessed to coach him as a position coach, it was an honor to coach him as a head coach. Seriously. I mean that with all my heart. I’m well past what happened in ’08. It’s water under the bridge. Even seeing him after the Minnesota games, it was brief, it was short, but I’ve always had great respect for Brett. -espn (wilde)

Found this perusing Twitter a few minutes ago. Extremely valid point. Although any passing marks set after 1978 or whenever the Mel Blount rules were put in suffer from grade inflation.

@adamczech: As QBs start breaking Favre's records, remember this: No. 4 put up a lot of his numbers when it was still legal to play defense.

Yep.  Who was it here that first coined "TOG" as that X4 name for him?

TOG means "The Other Guy".    Hopefully there won't be a "TOG II".

I will shake my head in amazement the way I did watching him play but this time it will be for being a disingenuous lowlife who will probably say all the right things but know deep down he doesnt mean any of it.

Well said, my sentiments too.  I was even thinking about going to Canton to see his induction there.  But after all his pouting and prissing against the Packers, I doubt I will spend any time watching it on TV.
