What is the reason the NFL doesn't allow players placed on IR return when they recover?  I assume teams would/could us IR to stash players but I was never sure.  (I did do minutes of Google searches before asking here.)

Edit:

(One reason IR rules became so rigid over the years is that teams like the Raiders and Redskins in the 80’s used it to hide young talent. Players were told to fake injuries so the team can hoard young talant. And it occasionally is still being done, but it’s not as prevalent. Coaches would instruct players to take a dive in the last pre season game and then then they got placed on IR. Then they would practice on the scout team for the entire year after taking just a week off to fake nurse the fake injury. With the expansion of the practice squad there is less need for this maneuver and the penalties from the Commissioner’s office are much bigger.)

Only took one more search.

Even if the NFL had some rule where you could "retract" an IR designation, I highly doubt this medical staff would allow with Jordy anyway. Yes, he's far ahead on his rehab and he also had near full range of motion in his knee 2 weeks post op (that's essentially unheard of).

But this is a all pro WR and security blanket to AR. They aren't going to push anything even if they could, which they can't.

They've also won 6 straight without Nelson. Get Adams back. Get JJ and Ty healthy. And then Quarless down the road. They'll be OK.
