Darnold's achilles is pressure. Unless SEA conjures an elite OL, he's going to turn back into a pumpkin very quickly.

The Commanders are not screwing around. Deebo and a Pro Bowl LT. I think they are going to be a problem with Jayden Daniels on that rookie contract.

Deebo sure looked like he put on about 10 lbs of bad weight and he has been a little banged up. This reminds me of the sudden decline of Freeman back in the day.

The Commanders gave up a 5th round pick and he only counts 5 million against their cap this year. That's about as low risk as it comes.

Adding the highest-priced Guard in Fries, 2 veteran big-name DTs in Allen and (apparently) Hargrave, a big-name Center in Ryan Kelly, re-signing Aaron Jones and making Byron Murphy one of the highest-paid CBs in the NFL.
Hate that franchise, but their weaknesses were in the middle of their Offensive and Defensive lines and they are attacking those weaknesses with gusto.

Investing in OL at all positions except RT and in DL at all positions except edge rusher is probably the most cost effective way to build a team.
Great LTs get paid for a reason, but an elite one would probably get 30-35 million a year if they got to free agency right now. Very good guards or a very good center will get about 17-20 million a year. You can almost get two of those guys for what you pay for one great LT.
If your guards and center aren't good and you keep getting the pocket collapsed and not getting any push in the run game, it doesn't matter how good your LT is (the Joe Thomas situation when the Browns never won despite having one of the top 5 LTs in history). If you need to help your LT out, you can always help out by having a TE or a back chip the edge rusher. You can't really scheme to cover up a terrible guard or center. Of course, a Bakhtiari at left tackle allows you to get that TE or back out into pass patterns and opens up a lot of the playbook, but you can't risk an overpay for just an average LT.

No I was not saying this was a bad move or a good move - only another example of how Father Time is unbeaten in the NFL. Freeman and Samuel seem alike in that they had good but not great traits and were versatile, Small injuries and weight easily erode what made them special. I will be anxious to see if Deebo regains some of that snap that made him such a dangerous player.

And players actually want to go to Washington now that the stink of Daniel Snyderbrenner is off that franchise. I truly believe that team is going to be even better this coming year.

I agree and hate the Vikes but applaud the move. I always urge a modicum of caution w/ one year wonders. Well have to see what Mccarthy actually does under center. Or is Daniel Jones this years Sam Darnold

Well, Daniel Jones just signed with Indy.
So in the most important position in football the Vikings have an unproven still basically a rookie at QB. Don't care what else they have added, it is still a QB driven league and there isn't much left out there.

Except that Jayden Daniels looks like he could be a Top 5 QB and the type of guy that can elevate other players.
Jared Goff is a very good QB that won't lose games for you, but isn't going to elevate the other players around him.

I'll go out on an odd limb: Kirk Cousins resigns with the Vikes at vet minimum since the Falcons are on the hook for the rest of the money after they release him. He will help JJ learn how to start.
