@ByRyanWood:   Matt LaFleur says #Packers will practice under the lights at Lambeau Field tomorrow night. Closed practice. He wants to mimic gameday for night opener in Brazil. So practice in the big stadium.

"Some people are not very happy about that either. (Fields manager) Allen Johnson."

I don’t think the Eagles are as good as they were in 2022, but they still are really talented.  That collapse last year was surprising because they do still have a ton of talent.

I love GB’s skill position talent but you can make an argument Philly has the best skill position talent of anyone.  AJ Brown and Devonta Smith are stud receivers.  When I watch Smith, he reminds me of a stronger and faster version of former Packers WR Robert Brooks.  He’s just relentless and strong for his wiry frame and as good as he is, AJ Brown is even better.

Then they add Saquon Barkley and they’ve got a true dual threat QB in Hurts who when he’s on is very tough to deal with.  Hopefully he has one of those off days where he’s a bit scatter armed.  TE Dallas Goedert is a good above average TE who complements everyone else well.

At least we don’t have to deal with Jason Kelce.  I was shocked at how badly he manhandled Kenny Clark 2 years ago on the way to Philly getting 300+ yards rushing vs the Pack in 2022.

It will be interesting to see how the Packers interior O Line handles Philly’s 2 young athletic stud DT prospects.  Elgton Jenkins can handle those guys.  I am concerned the C and RG positions for the Pack will have trouble with those guys.

Overall, this should be a fun game.  If the Pack does lose, learn from it and be ready to beat these guys in the playoffs when it really matters.

Season opener...anything can happen. Upside...it's the season opener for both, no game before, 8 full days after to recover, and a home game. Much different than the England debacle.

Best OL since Bakh injury. Franchise QB. Top FA RB. 2 solid NFL TE. STAAAAACKED WR corps. Spiffy new defense. And the seemingly weakest link, PK, was just upgraded (we hope).

Packers will win this game barring some freak occurrence.

Here’s a nice look from about 10,000 feet at prospects for the Philadelphia squad this season:

Thanks for that link. And here I thought the Triangle of Authority Murphy set up here was odd.

That’s nothing compared to the absolute stripped gears Sirriani now has.

So he has no say in play calling on either side of the ball, his relationship with Hurts isn’t good, and at best he’s a mouth piece at weekly press conferences?

Lmao what could go wrong.

It’s really hard to gauge what either team will play like in week 1. Playing in Brazil, on a Friday, with very long travel schedules, I have no idea how this plays out.

But I am confident that this will feel and sound like a home game for the Packers with mass turnout of green n gold fans.

Peacock 🦚 for Friday Sept 6.

Worst thing about it is no DVR

???  I have peacock and I get every Packer game taped no matter what network is broadcasting it.  Go to library and add a team or show and it tapes it and keeps it available for 1 year.

Not sure what to think of this game because the Eagles are stacked on offense and its going to be a huge test for the new defense of the Packers.

But, I do have hope because it sounds like the HC and Hurts don't get along well at all and last year when they went on their losing streak I guess the defense was a huge  problem for them and the wheels fell off.

Philly seems like they are a really physical team which always makes me nervous because in recent years when they played physical teams that will punch you in the mouth they had issues especially defensively.  Now is the time for the DC to finally instill in the players that we are going to smack you right back.

Go Pack Go!

Some of those "Fields managers" and ground crew guys don't ever want a game played on the turf they protect, it would seem.

It seems that GB always starts the season slowly and then builds toward the playoffs. While it's not a terrible way to go, an early win helps put pressure on other division teams to keep up and would help secure home field as Philly is in the NFC. I think it'll come down to the wire, so we'll get a chance to either gripe or laud the new kicker.

Go Packers!

I must correct myself!  I gave false info. 😳  I have YouTube tv and have highlighted the Packers. Every Packer game no matter the network is saved in the library for 1 year. I also have Peacock.  In peacock I can rewatch a game shown only on peacock for 30 days.

Thats what i thought. I have Peacock and tgere are only three Packer games on the schedule that i coukd set to record. Thanks for clearing that up

@zacobson:

The Packers just released their first unofficial depth chart of the season.

- Sean Rhyan is the starting RG

- Marshawn Lloyd is the No. 2 RB

- Quay Walker, Isaiah McDuffie and Eric Wilson are the three starting LBs

- Xavier McKinney and Javon Bullard are starting safeties

The Green Bay Packers vs Philadelphia Eagles Week 1 matchup is the first NFL game in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the first one ever in South America. However, the game is now in serious danger of being canceled and possibly rescheduled back in America.

Wildfires have hit the surrounding area and are now affecting over 30 cities nearby. According to Brasilia’s Environmental Institute, the air quality has significantly dropped, and it is now described as very unhealthy.

Of course, if the air quality is that bad, it could make it extremely dangerous for players on the Packers or Eagles to play in. A smog alert has even been released for the first time since 2007.

What makes this crisis even more concerning is that none of these fires were started by lightning and, rather, most likely by people setting them. “No fires caused by lightning were detected. This means that people are setting fires in the Amazon, the Pantanal, and especially in the state of Sao Paulo,” Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said.

If the game was in any danger of being canceled it would have been all over the place by now. Pretty sure there's some click baiting going on.  I tried to find some corroborating stories and there's not much reputable reporting on it. The NFL will make a statement if it becomes credible.

Right.

Nothing on APNews.....everyday that goes by, it's being played in Sao Paolo....as long as the air quality is fine, it won't be an issue.

Only sites that show up with it are all the click bait sites

@RobDemovsky:  RB MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) has returned to practice [this afternoon]. All 53 players on the roster were on the grass as game week commenced.

The Packers will practice here today, tomorrow and Tuesday and then fly to Brazil on Wednesday.

@TomSilverstein
LaFleur said that Malik Willis took some of the scout team reps today. He split them with Sean Clifford. How they practice will determine which one will be the backup on Friday night.

The current air quality by the stadium is elevated, but not to crazy levels where it would be outright dangerous to play.

In any case, the forecast for the week has the winds shifting on Friday to be coming off the ocean and the air quality is supposed to drastically improve then.
