They could have been top 1-4 if they didn't beat Atlanta & Jets.

It's fukkin idiotic to continue trying to win what amounts to pre-Season games

I understand the train of thought, but that idea doesn't sit well with me. We've seen a number of years where players seemingly mailed it in, and it was vm due to the fact that they took for granted their job was secure. Because with Sherman and MM their jobs were secure. That's the mentality that's played a big part in the slow but gradual dissolution of this team. Idr if it was Josh Jackson or Josh Jones- on the Loins td- that was an embarrassing display of lacking effort. And there have been many examples this year. If that's the standard and message being conveyed, this franchise is down further than we all might believe. I think 1) Packer fans deserve better, 2) I want players that have pride in their ability and heart as professional athletes, 3) The Lombardi adage "You don't do things right some of the time, you do them right all the time. That attitude in itself is what brings success. This team needs to learn how to win again, and any drop off in effort reflects poorly on the entire organization. Besides, is picking 10th or 8th or 12th really a huge deal if the front office keeps whiffing on picks?

Today is the culmination of some suspect personnel decisions (losing Hayward and Hyde), some really suspect draft picks, and MM retaining and covering for some marginal coaches for too many years.

Its a lot of marginal talent playing for marginal coaches with no real plan or identity.

Packers have arrived at a place that was destined to happen because no one was really paying attention the past few years.

The reality is that all this falls directly on Murphy. So no, I’m not confident he’s going to do the right thing when it comes to the HC hiring.

I wouldn't be sad if someone announced by the end of the day Monday that the entire football operations staff, including Gute and Murphy were let go, I wouldn't be sad.  Now in Gute's case it's his first year on the job and he took over a mess, so the disaster we saw this year isn't all on him.

But even with Gute, the flames of failure were already burning and he added more gas to the fire with a number of questionable personnel moves.  He's got to have a much better off season in personnel acquisitions than he did this year or the Pack will really be sunk for awhile if not the rest of Rodgers' career.

I’m not going to burn down the house when only part of it is on fire. That said, this team needs a strong overhaul. I don’t know if Gutterguts is strong enough to do that, and I highly suspect Murphy is not. They need a coach who is not afraid to discipline players, and who doesn’t let anyone get away with crap, a coach who can bring in some new ideas and a new attitude. They need a GM who has an eagle eye for talant, especially on OL (that’s something TT whiffed on many times). And they need a leader on the field who will use everyone and not just guys he’s “comfortable” with, who will show trust in the play calls, and who is willing to be a game manager if needed. Things have to change not for change’s sake, but for the health of the franchise.
