Exactly.  If he did tell vets he was moving on after the season, why would the vets play the rest of this season and risk injury?

You cannot play a violent game like football half assed.

See Pickens, George

Frustrated doesn't necessarily mean poor attitude. His body isn't allowing him to play to his full abilities. 59 made a bad choice complaining to the Internet. Hard to blame him being pissed off under this staff.  They did f**k all to adjust the scheme while he was getting embarrassed out there.

We've all pretty much known Barry isn't the guy since they hired him. I can't even watch his press conferences and I watch almost everything that comes out of 1265.  He seems like a nice guy given responsibilities he shouldn't have.  It's beyond time they let him go. I give a certain amount of slack to players being ticked off when the DC has had poor defenses everytime he's been given the opportunity to be in charge. Their short careers get wasted while he's puttering around from stop to stop.

I don't think MLF has an appreciation for how exhausted this fan base is with bad defense.  Someone would be wise to get that in his head...being generous there's maybe 4 seasons in the last 25 where we felt it was at a championship level. Defense is definitely tougher now and all schemes are going to have their weaknesses, but we witness historically bad statistics popping up on the screen season after season and it's never just one thing.

They need to get someone in here who can take total control of the defense and let MLF concentrate on offense. The defense in GB has always been the little brother to the offense with everyone hoping they can just do enough. Wouldn't be the worst thing for a coach that challenges them to be the type of unit that thinks their own offense wouldn't want to play them for keeps. I'd prefer a young, hungry, creative coach with a presence the players follow ,but MLF hasn't shown himself capable of finding that type of guy. He likes minions for his vision. It's so frustrating.

They'd never do it, but they've been so so bad they had me wondering if Rex Ryan wouldn't be the worst idea when it was suggested he was lobbying for it (nuts!). Him and MLF would clash and he'd say things that would give the management fainting spells, but he'd at least get the players fired up and have schemes that help them exhibit their best tools instead of keeping everything in front of them and catching tackles.

Instead we'll pick another corporate cuck that won't rock the boat and waste all our time while the latest offense takes off and we're left wondering what could have been as some other team puts up 500+ yards in the most obvious way to attack our scheme and eliminate us from the playoffs. The worst thing isn't that it's so bad, it's lacking confidence in MLF to fix it.

With Campbell (mostly) following Godwin, he had 100+ in the 1st half and Barry never adjusted. At least Mike Evans didn't kill them.

Going into the game Barry said the focus was on stopping Evans and the run. Well they did those two things, but the Bucs adjusted by putting Godwin in the slot, so he could work the middle of the field vs our zone, where they knew our ILBers and safeties would be. Adjustments could have included playing more man (which would have presented more risk in covering Evans), put another DB in instead of Campbell (which would have hurt our run defense), or use Campbell or Walker as blitzers and get them out of coverage. You are correct, Barry went into the game with two things in mind, when he was getting shredded by the Bucs counter he never got off his original game plan.

The Jets fullback from the Rodgers roster spot story has it figured out

The craziest thing is that little girl looks exactly like my niece. Doppleganger without question. Verified it with Wifey too.

He had that in Pettine, but wanted his "own guy".

The other interesting thing is maybe the biggest defensive issue Capers and Pettine had overall (besides poor DB picks) was slow garbage at ILB. Then they bring in the utterly incompetent Barry and think "Oh, maybe we should actually put some resources into the position now."

Yes, Barry was an ILBer coach in LA and the vision was that we were going to get "3 down" ILBers similar to TB and SF. The problem is that while Campbell was an all-pro two years ago, he was a journeyman prior to that and has reverted back to that this season. Walker was a reach as a First Round selection, and has regressed the second half of this season. Neither of them are good at "triggering" vs. runs between the tackles, and as Wahle coins it, end up "catching" blockers at the second level, rather than stoning them at the LOS.

If you lose the players, you're done as a coach. Barry has obviously lost a large portion of the players on defense. MLF keeps fucking around and letting Barry hang around, he will lose the entire locker room...and at that point, Gutey/WMM will have zero choice but to fire him.

You would think, but there’s never any pressure on the staff to get better.  Lambeau’s sold out for the next 50 years.  Remember the 70’s and 80’s.  The board was perfectly content to let the money come in and not improve the team.  They had shit coaches, shit scouts, a shit personnel department and a shitty team.  It was a dumpster fire until someone on the board initiated change by hiring Harlan.  Fast forward to this current board, they hire a guy whose strength is expanding business operations, not running a football team.  His ego, which is good downfall, tells him he knows so much about football he can make all the decisions and creates silos that report to him.  The idiots on the board are blinded by sledding hillsand tinsel town.  So there’s no accountability from the board down.  It shows with MLF who holds nobody accountable, and his coaches who hold nobody accountable.  The defense especially doesn’t feel accountable.  You got Campbell mouthing off about it, Alexander who doesn’t want to get out of the tub which is who Campbell could be referring to and who knows how many others are feeling this way?  Lack of accountability, coupled with stupidity, is killing this team.
