Spielman hasn't drafted wide receivers 10 years in a row.....though his record at picking receivers is about the same as Millan's

Hey, let's not forget 1st round pick, WR Laquon Treadwell! His 15 receiving yards this season, while riding the bench, is something the vikings can hang their hats on!

Bradford has proven he can be a pretty darn good QB. He's had virtually no OL or running game, has taken tons of hits, and his WRs (Diggs and Rudolph excepted) are well below average. If Bridgewater does return -- a big IF -- I think the Vikes have a real QB decision to make.

I will never, ever, ever get why Bradford gets any love at all. He loses far more than he wins. He's earned $85 million playing in the NFL. He's thrown 92 TD passes. That's $923,913.00 per TD. If he plays next year he's going to break $1 million per TD.

Sam Bradford is a tremendous fraud of a QB.

Bradford is a player that perpetually plays like a rookie. He's shown, at various times, the makings of a franchise QB which is why teams keep trading for him. In the end though he still consistently makes rookie mistakes and never looks comfortable. I think he has David Carr Syndrome...he's been rocked and injured so much over his career that he can't ever settle down.

man, I used to love watching Mosconi beat up on that loudmouth Fats!

on another note, I smell chicken.
from pft:
Adrian Peterson returned to action for the Vikings in last Sunday’s blowout loss to the Colts after missing 11 games following surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, but didn’t provide much of a boost to the offense while rushing six times for 22 yards and losing a fumble.

It remains to be seen if Peterson will be on the field to attempt a better outing against the Packers on Christmas Eve. Peterson sat out of Wednesday’s practice shortly after coach Mike Zimmer said that the running back β€œdidn’t quite” look fully healthy against the Colts.

Peterson said after that game that he was planning to play against the Packers, but sounded less certain about how things would play out on Wednesday.

β€œI’m taking it day by day,” Peterson said, via Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Peaking.

Mosconi and Fats were staples on Wide World of Sports in the early 70's. As a wee tot I recall how much Willie came across as a quiet gentleman and Fats was an endless gas bag. I didn't like Fats at all. I rooted for Willie. Maybe my earliest recollection of good vs evil other than the Harlem Globetrotters vs the Washington Generals. But I didn't hate the Generals. I hated Minnesota Fats.

Is this the Genesis of my Minnesota hatred? Was it cast at the age of six 33 years before I witnessed the stupidity of Viking fan first hand?

This is truly a glorious day!!! This is how an orphan child must feel when they locate their biological mother. Only the  "mother" is actually "hatred"

I owe you Satori.

I hate how often we get Troy and Joe, we are victims of the Packers success. The more successful they are, the more often they are the prime time game for FOX. NFL Sunday Ticket needs to offer local radio sync as an option, I think a lot of people would prefer that.

Ever listen to Boomer Esiason on the radio? He is the best of all of them as a color guy.

Ah yes, the good old days of post-football pre-cable winter sunday afternoons in WI.  I remember the Eagle River World Championship Snowmobile Race being an actual highlight.  Not to mention bowling.  Watching bowling on a winter afternoon because nothing else was on was depression inducing.  You might have lucked out and they showed a random half hour of the stooges or bugs bunny.

I don't know.  I tried that last weekend it wasn't great.  Felt like I really missed the ambient sounds (everything but the tv guys gabbing) of the game and the crowd that you usually get from tv.  I really enjoy our radio guys and they are clearly better calling the game than Aik and Buck.  Maybe my radio feed was not high enough quality.

Various blurbs today:

Packers OLB coach Winston Moss doesn't see any reason to rest Clay Matthews to try to get his separated shoulder better. "We need Clay Matthews," Moss said. "Put Clay Matthews out there and let's see what he can do."

Aaron Rodgers went from a DNP to a full practice participant in a week with his calf injury, but being on the field might be more beneficial for those around him. "It certainly helps the overall preparation," Packers offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett said. "Some players can operate and play without taking the entire number of reps and still be ready to go play, but it certainly helps the other guys and that's what it's really all about, the teammates being on the same page

Mike Daniels (right hand), Nick Perry (left hand) and Jayrone Elliott (left hand) all had casts on. Daniels' was much smaller and didn't appear to limit his workload. Perry did only limited work, while Elliott did not practice.

James Starks (concussion) and Jayrone Elliott (hand) the only Packers held out of practice completely.

Watched the tape today on Packers RB Ty Montgomery...Quickness to shake defenders in the hole. Plays fast and finishes on contact. Tough. And he's a good fit for the Packers shotgun/pistol runs. This often creates light defensive fronts for Montgomery to hit the hole with speed in both zone and power schemes. Post coming tomorrow on his fantasy value heading into Week 16. Montgomery has produced 42 fantasy points in his last two games (4th overall in the NFL) and he registered 18 total touches vs. the Bears. Montgomery should continue to see a high-volume workload vs. the Vikings this Sunday.

OMG.  You are so right and so true.   I had completely blocked those boring, cold, winter weekends out of my mind.  Living in a small town there was absolutely nothing to do.....no cable...no VCR....5 channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, Independent; PBS)........folks would force me to go outside and play.....hated every minute of Winter after football ended.

You has link?  I want to watch...

Interesting article on our run game & how people are playing us with Monty in backfield. Bears started out defending him as a WR, playing nickel as their base defense. MM anticipated this & went to some power run concepts to make their DBs take on blocks. This is when we had all of the running success vs. them. They switched to their base 3-4 to stop the run & my guess is that is why we went "3 & out" on those two 4th quarter possessions. Look for us to have to use Monty as a receiver when this happens, or look to Cook, one of the two (if not both) will be covered by LBers.

Don't forget the thrilling Lumberjack World Championships from Hayward WI.

I got to talk to Keith "Whoa Nellie" Jackson there. Wide World Of Sports and The American Sportsman with Curt Gowdy would occasionally air a fishing program from Hayward. One time they had Gypsy Rose Lee fishing for muskies on the show. A huge event for a town of 1500.

How the hell did Treadwell get hurt? Hasn't he been a healthy inactive most weeks?

Treadwell probably impaled himself on a sliver from the bench. As far as who plays for the vikings, it would appear that the Packers need to keep the ball away from Sherels and Patterson on special teams, stop the run, always and cover TE Rudolph underneath and in the red zone and pressure Bradford all game. The vikings targeted Charles Johnson a few times against the Colts and he and Theilen will be their deep threats if Diggs cannot play.  Run The Table, Packers. It's their for you and the next step is on Saturday night at Lambeau.

FOX #1 crew with Buck & Aikman, and to top it off the NFL has assigned Triplette to the game (which might actually be a good thing).

In the right circumstances, these trends can manifest in important games. Triplette, for example, has been assigned the Week 16 game between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. The Vikings are fighting to stay in the NFC playoff race, while the Packers can claim the NFC North title if they win their final two games.

Aaron Rodgers might be the best quarterback in the NFL at drawing defensive players offsides with his cadence, and then turning the ensuing free play into a touchdown. You can rest assured that he's well aware of Triplette and crew's sensitivity to pre-snap movement on both sides of the ball.

There are so many gems I could pluck from this message board, but this one's a beaut. Written today in a thread title called Super Bowl Drought:

Post Re: The Vikings Super Bowl drought
November 6, 1966. Vikings @ Packers. Vikings win. 20-17 Next day at school I start teasing some Packer fans.
This is great I think, finally something I can fight back with. (I was teased because I stuttered) Nov. 6, 1966.
The day I became a Vikings fan living in Appleton, WI. 29.5 miles from Lambeau field. So for the last 50 years, one month and 10 days my team has been in a drought of not winning a Super Bowl. I have watched them play in one 4 times. Each time, beat by a team they should have easily beaten. Well maybe not the Steelers. The last time I watched them in the Super Bowl, I was a senior in high school. I have nieces and nephews that now have children in middle school.

I'm tired of waiting.

But I'll wait.

Because I'm a Vikings fan.

We don't give up the long boat.

OK, I'll skip the Chiefs, but that was a fine team.

Other two SB's were loss to Dolphin team that was one year after their undefeated season.  I think that team lost one game all year and is generally considered better then the previous year's team.  I remember that team's opening drive in the regular season was a touchdown.  Every single one.

No way they were better than that team.

And the Raiders.  My gosh, the Vikings were hammered to oblivion by that team's offensive line, including Upshaw and Shell.  Their defensive line got close to nothing all game.

What is this guy smoking?
