I think Swain is ready to take his place. Different type of receiver but he has made some plays this year. Then draft his replacement with kick returning skills.

On the other hand I'm not sure how feasible it is to find a guy to replace his level of play in the 3rd or 4th round.
When his deficiencies are factored in I don't think it'd be particularly difficult. There are lots of WRs out there picked in the middle and lower rounds that I'd take over JJ.
Yesterday his lapses didn't matter much, but I fear he may have one when the game is on the line, much like he did against the Bears the last time we played them.
Remember that the Packers should have Finley back next year. He often lines up as a WR. And with an "experienced" Quarless, I assume the Packers will line up Finley in the slot or wide more often.
I like JJ, but I think his role is ready to be filled elsewhere on the team. I'd just like the Packers to be able to get something for him rather than let him walk via FA.

Wouldn't be a bit surprised (this is assuming Jones leaves via FA) if TT finds a burner at WR somewhere in the 2011 draft.
Jennings has that ability and Finley, for a TE, is also fast however if GB drafted a WR (who could also return kicks) like Desean Jackson then look out.
Rodgers would use that blazing speed and just pick defenses apart. A WR like that plus Jennings and Finley? Oooof. Defensive Coordinators would be going nuts.

DCs should be going nucking futs now, without Finely and Grant. With a healthy AR this team can beat anyone.
Jones = POS

I thought Philly was a tough guy kind of town. Maybe they should contact Key West about being their sister city.

James "Dow" Jones
Uh Boris, wasn't Slocum the one that explained how football is "Up and Down"?
Jones doesn't have the speed or shiftiness to be a #1 in this league but he's a very good complimentary WR. 50 catches is huge in this offense. Hope he can cure his occasional lapses.
I didn't think his drop was as bad a Jordy's redzone fumble yesterday. That turned the game pretty quickly. Thankfully, didn't matter as the second half turned out to be a rout.

James Jones on Larry's Locker Room
I watched this episode and James comes off as a nice intelligent guy. He's very like-able.
He ran a good route vs. the Giants on the TD catch which they explain on the show.
For you James Jones "dis-likers" (like me) it's a good show to watch.
I hope he can improve his consistency because he could make this offense much more dangerous than it is

I don't trust his ability to focus for 3 hours on Sunday
I like JJ. Not sure what his contract situation is but I wouldn't let him go with Driver near the end.
I like James Jones, and always thought he would be a 'good hands' WR, but he has been very inconsistent
CB
Unrestricted unless we go into a uncapped year. Then, he would be restricted.

I don't care if he's mother theresa in cleats, he has to be more consistent. Otherwise TT WILL find a replacement.
Not Mr. Velcro.
I would like to see Jones stick around but the dinero needs to be right. He has somewhat of a connection with Rodgers and has "grown up" with him as is the plan with the offensive players. GB could be successfull without him though but GB would need to develop another guy right away.
Having Jennings , Driver for 1 more year, Nelson and Swain at WR and Finley returning GB would be fine. Maybe GB thinks they have to have him and they do something with Driver's salary like forcing him to take a cut but I dont think that will happen.

I think we can afford to go with Jennings, Nelson, Driver, Rookie, Swain. Why? Because we will have a healthy Finley in 2011.
1 - He will be your replacement for Jones in 4 WR sets.
2 - If Quareless continues to progress, Finley will bassically be your #3 in what appears to be a two TE set, but could be played like a 3 WR set if you motion him out to a slot.
I'm not not worried about having options for A Rodg. My main concern is creating a dominant offensive line so we can become a dynasty.
Yes. A better OL would make this team sick. I wouldn't mind if TT spent every draft pick he has on OL prospects.

Only to be ruined by Campen. Get a legit LG and run with it.
Reminds me of Robert Ferguson, just when you think he might be improving because he's made a few good plays, he lets you down when you need him. What value did Ferguson hold, as I recall he just ended up being cut.

And another tackle..
Bulaga, Lang and another one in case Lang isnt the long term answer at RT. If the tackle is good to go you could even move Bulaga back to guard.. Not that I am in favor of all this switch-a-roo schananigans thats been going on, but if its gonna happen you might as well be loaded.

I'll concede Ferguson was frustrating. However, IMO he was never quite the same after getting clotheslined against the Jaguars. Vicious hit.
Assuming that there is a football season next year, there will be a HUGE glut of Free Agents because there will be two seasons worth all coming out, and teams can only put the tag on one or two of their best talent. Let Jones go and try to sign someone better (like Larry Fitzgerald?)

You do realize Punky Brewster grew up to have extremely large t*ts?
(OK, technically she had breast reduction surgery before she completely grew up. But that's a sign of just how oversized her breasts were.)
Now that everyone is bashing on James Jones, I posted that we should trade him before the draft deadline in October and I got critized beyond belief. I was told that we needed him as out third receiver and we couldn't afford to trade him. Now thats all your talking about. Whats his trade value, will we reales him and so on. We could havbe got at least a third or the OSL we needed at the time.
you were wrong then

Really? What GM was offering this to the Packers?

Without James Jones, the Packers could very well have lost the 1st Vikings game. Lose that and forget about the playoffs.
Therefore, it's only logical and binary to assume danhandy is opposed to the Packers making the playoffs.

That's insulting to Jones. Yeah, he's had some drops but he's way better than Ferguson was.
Jones has had the same number catches in 4 years that Fergy did in 8 !!

Guess we forget about his fumble in the Bears game when they were driving for a score late in a game that was close.
Jones is an OK receiver but he's no difference maker.
So does that make Donald Driver just an OK receiver as well?
I'd argue that the first Bear game proves that Jones can be a difference maker. If he ever put it all together he'd be great opposite Jennings, but I'm not holding my breath.
