Now this is disgraceful.

@PackerUpdate: Hawk and Jones were on the field for 118 defensive snaps on Thursday night. Lattimore and Barrington were on the field for 0 snaps.

Position coaches generally manage substitution patterns.  He can't develop them or manage them properly.  Fire Moss now.

EDIT: After posting this I started thinking about who on staff could take Moss' place. Ron Zook's background is STs and Defensive Coordinator but only coached DBs when he was a position coach years ago. Got me thinking though, maybe MM brought Zook in to give him another pair of eyes to evaluate the defense in season and/or to have another guy on staff (besides Trgo and Whitt) to potentially replace Dom when he retires or is fired.  Yeah yeah I know Moss would be considered by MM but he's done nothing to suggest he could improve things there.

Wow, I agree with Timmy. The constant missed tackles, the reacting rather than attacking, not recognizing plays again and again, the DL letting RBs rip off yards at will, year after year, point to coaches who don't know how to get the most out of their players. Our guys stand around and read the play; good defenses blow up the play. This D needs to get fixed and unless they have a total change of personality at the top, I just don't see it happening. Heck, I'm kind of hoping they put Capers on "administrative leave" and let Trog run the show.

Considering Moss is the assistant head coach, I'd say this is extremely unlikely. And i seriously doubt putting in Lattimore or Barrington would've made much of a difference.

Packers didn't lose by 20 points because their middle linebackers sucked and Capers called a bad game. They lost because they're not as good as Seattle. Plain and simple.

Betcha they would not have lost by 20 points if the middle linebackers didn't suck and Capers called a better game.  Simple and Plain

Perhaps not, but that doesn't warrant making no changes moving forward or at the very least send a message that piss poor performance is not rewarded by allowing them to start week after week.

Maybe Barrington or Lattimore aren't much better. But IMO you at least gotta try. Sometimes younger and hungrier players equates to better effort and this mentality that once given the chance they will put a death grip on that starting job. That sure was the case with Dez Bishop. Once he got the opportunity, there was no way in hell he was giving back to Barnett.

Brad Jones shouldn't play football anymore. I agree with that. But you can't attribute that performance to the horrible play of the ILB's. Yeah, they were bad. So was Guion. and Matthews. and Peppers. and Burnett. and Hayward. and Datone Jones. Not to mention the OL's inability to move anybody off the ball or keep Rodgers clean, or even Rodgers himself. They were thoroughly routed in just about every aspect of that game.

There seems to be a singling out of one small group of players, even to the point where it's suggested that the position coach be fired. Replacing Hawk and Jones will not be a cure all for this defense.

To quote BASEketball: "This was a team effort, and it took every player working together to lose this one."

I have no problem with the above in any combination, but it's not very likely to happen once a season begins.

If any 'change' happens, up to and including Capers, MM will just shuffle guys around to maintain status quo.

Let's start small and see what happens.

A journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step, blah blah blah.

Can we get him to man up, and shave his effin head?

Of course the players and coaches all contributed to that stinkeroo.

We are just pointing out the indefensible:

1. hawk and jones got all the minutes. No subs. No taking them out to make a point. NO ACCOUNTABILITY.

2. Everyone has known who watched this team last year the ILB were scrubs. They are who were knew they were this year. Again, crazy not to allow one sub in that game.

3. They had their 4th round draft choice LB playing out of position until the last week of training camp. DUH

4. On one play they had 10 men on the field. On another 13. They had the whole off season aiming for this revenge game/opening game/national tv coverage and this is the chit we get?

4. Richard Sherman shamed us into playing half the field and throwing away half our play book. After Jordy signed his deal I'd be pissed if I were Jordy thinking the team has no confidence in him. Again, the whole off season and that's the offense MM comes up with??? WTF

Thanks!

You may as well head up.  The season may be over but you can pick up one of those Horse Collar brats and a cold beer.

Good call.....Looks the same way coming out as it does going in

There is no way I'll believe that starting Barrington and Lattimore over Hawk and Jones would result in worse play than we've seen at the MLB position.

Here's a crazy thought... if there's one area where TT has done a superb job at acquiring talent, it's a CB.  GB is loaded there, to the point where a guy like Davon House is limited to ST's duty.  I believe House is good enough to be a nickel back for plenty of teams in the league, one of them is not GB.

House is a UFA next season.  While player for player trades aren't very common in today's game, I'd love to see TT send House to a team in exchange for a MLB lost on another team's depth chart.
