Yep, pretty shitty mistake.  Monty has been as much a victim of the hybridization bullshit this team has completely failed at for years now.  He has value, just not in this mixed up horseshit of an offense.

Even if he isn't one of the best I have never understood all the shit he takes on this board.  He's a solid player.  They drafted Burks to be a coverage LB.

I'm not sure Burks ever saw the field on D yesterday though I wasn't watching close enough to look for him.  And I keep seeing references to Josh Jackson not playing either.  What is up there?

Now I’ve inched closer to the need a fresh face in the head coach/offensive side of the ball. Just don’t know who’s out there but it does seem to have worked for the defense. I think that side of the ball is very close to putting a full game effort together.

This guy Matt Lafleur at Tennessee coached Blaine Gabbert to a 97 rating and a win vs. Houston. Getting any production from Gabbert seems like a mountain of a task, getting him to play well means this guy is a freakin genius.

I'd be just fine with Pettine and let him clean out the offensive side.  Of course, Pettine doesn't sound like he was really interested in getting back into a HC position but coaching a team with Rodgers has to be pretty alluring.  Finding a young OC or HC like LaFleur can only be a positive.

I have no desire to turn this into a McVince rant but the issue I have with him really isn't meant to be malicious.  Just like TT, all those failed decisions/errors don't just go away because you say "We're totally different now"!  It's like hanging up a "new management" sign over some shitty Chinese place.  Oh look!  They have TWO kinds of fried rice now and only a couple of cockroaches scurrying about.  All the stuff with Randall, Ha Ha, and others over the past few years just highlights the issue.  Players aren't invested.  Bum wine is still bum wine regardless of the labeling.  That's why the change is good for everyone.  McVince isn't a horrible coach.  He's a ****ing horrible manager but he's not a bad coach.  Going to a new team is truly a fresh start.  Trying to plant something new on the ground you already salted is futile.

edit:  After finding out some things about Uncle Ted I can see the reason why Murphy gave McVince some benefit of the doubt but it appears to be misplaced.  You can't blame McVince for TT's personnel decisions but he owns the management and play calling of his deadbeat coaches.  As we continue to see, some of those Ted Turds go on to play pretty solid ball elsewhere.

I don't get the Burks thing unless guys like Morrison were on the field more to specifically to stop Gurley.

I hope these young guys get more playing time.  This season is kind of an pre-season bonanza, seeing what next year could bring.

Oh shit.  Bye Ty.

I'm ****ing sick and tired of reading articles where every QB in the league talks about how completely amazed they are by what Rodgers does.

I think we should bitch more about Rodgers supposedly defying McVince in this hackneyed, split personality offense.

He has value in the offense and that value should be at WR and stop this Monty at RB thing.  It was cool when they were desperate a few years ago but now it is time to give the ball to the real RB's on this roster.

Was Jackson hurt? how does he not get on the field more makes no sense to me.

Agreed, and if not this falls to MM. I can't believe that the sideline tantrum was the first sign of a problem, but if it was MM is totally disconnected from some of his players but so grossly over-loyal to others he can't see what's happening in front of him.

MEH, he was a very average WR. As a RB he is decidedly less than average.

They are still on the hook for Montgomery’s salary if he clears waivers. Why pay him to play somewhere else. Play him on the scout team and then make him a game day inactive. If you cut him it’s the Martellus Bennett crap all over again.

Monty has a very unique skill set.  Unfortunately MM never really employed him to the best of his abilities.  I'm sure that's where a lot of Monty's frustration comes from.

His unique skill set seems to be based on one great game against an inept Bears team a few years ago.

He also blew the blitz pickup on the last offensive play when the announcers said Adams was wide open. He’s on the team because they trust him to make the correct decisions. He is not particularly fast or elusive. Cobb is a much better slot receiver and half the board wants him gone.

Monty's built a lot of good will the last couple years putting in the work to become a RB, playing hurt, being available.  We know MM is not going to cut a guy like that.  Especially when he was supposed to be one of MM's special toys.  Unless he's become a problem in the locker room, he'll have to do more than what he did yesterday to get himself cut.

He's had a handful of plays just this season that shows his effectiveness as a receiver out of the backfield and running it.  Who gave them the critical chunk play two weeks ago to get them upfield and out of bounds to stop the clock on their game winning drive?  He missed the blitz pick-up but what I saw in a blur on that replay was half the line collapsing and 88 getting swallowed by a surge.

He's not Marshall Faulk or even Dave Megget.  Hell, he's not even a starting quality RB but he poses matchup problems when used properly.  Is MM suddenly a great and creative coach when it comes to 88 and not the guy everyone is clamoring as stale and stubborn?

any jackhole that can't listen to and follow his coach's directions should not see the field again until he's able to do that.

the GBP does not need montgomery to play RB for them, they don't need another WR either.  use him as a practice dummy for the rest of the season and let him go.  I was done with this experiment over a year ago.

+++ Jaire is a stud! Our defense played well enough to win this game on their own, almost. All they needed was a pick 6 or a forced fumble and recovery in one of the Rams' scoring drives. Matthews' best game of the season. Fackrell had a nice sack. Lowry too! Kenny Clark is solid. Martinez is a stud! He is our best LB.  ESB and MVS made some nice catches and MVS had a nice TD. Davante is, IMO, the best receiver in the league! Crosby was spot on all day. Aaron Jones ran well when MM played him, except in that goal line stand with the safety. Even though we lost, this is the best team effort on defense I have seen all year. The vikings lost.

---- Ty Montgomery took the game out of Rodgers' hands and gave it to the Rams on that kick return. What a dumb move! We would have had the ball at the 25 yard line with about 2:15 on the clock, meaning Rodgers could have run one play before the 2 minute warning, gotten the clock to stop at the 2 minute warning and still had one timeout to play with on that drive.  Zook should be let go. Rodgers wasting time outs, once again, because the team and him were not on the same page. Usually he wastes time outs because the play clock is nearing zero and guys are still settling in on the O Line. Our O line not blocking Donald on key plays. Tramon Williams covering Woods, their fastest WR, and getting beaten like a drum doing it. Put Tramon at Safety and let Josh Jackson play. When we needed a boomer coming out of the barn, Scott punts a 25 yarder that the Rams recover on our 40. Not what I was hoping to see from the 5th round pick. The Bears won.

JK Scott did choke on perhaps his most important punt this year. Hopefully he learns something from it. It’s easy to hit 55 yarders in the first quarter. It’s harder when your team really needs hit.

Are we saying that Zook was Gomeried?

i only know that ST has cost us one game(Detroit) and possibly a second game against the Rams yesterday.

The refs cost us the Minnesota game.

this is a possible 3 wins we were f'ed out of.

The Packers could very easily be 6-1 right now.

they could also be sitting worse than they currently are.

i really believe AR and agree that they are very close.

I can only say, Look out when they finally put it all together.

They were every bit as good, if not better, than an undefeated Rams team yesterday.

AND, I am very tired of trying to make 88 a RB/ KR, every time he is on the field lately it feels like bad things happen.

If Monty isn’t cut by end of day, the entire management and coaching staff needs to be set ablaze.

This and once again, here's a pattern and we've seen this movie before.

Now it's Monty going rogue. Last year, it was Damarious Randall acting like a whiney tool and being sent to the locker room. A few years ago, it was Brandon Bostick who didn't listen either about not handling the key ST's play in the NFCC game, fuc*** the team in getting to the SB. You have a young ST's player in Tony Brown who in the last 2 games prior to yesterday committed back-to-back boneheaded penalties that screwed the team as well.

Under a new DC in Pettine, all we heard about was "accountability" and how refreshing that was to the defense and how guys actions or inactions were going to be held accountable. That accountability has to be applied everywhere.

If Monty keeps his job and nothing happens, that's about all you need to hear. And the past has told us, we know how this movie ends. Which means Monty isn't going anywhere.

Trade him

Maybe someone can correct me but I don't remember MM throwing a player under bus like he did with Monty since Bostick.  Usually he keeps that stuff in house and when at the podium he says "well, we'll have to watch the film" but calling out Monty immediately after the game speaks volumes.  And Monty deserved it.  Even if he had held onto the ball and brought it out to the 30 yard line, running it out of the end zone burned the 2 minute warning.  Hard to win with dumb football players making dumb decisions when they've been told the decision was already made.

It'll be interesting to see what Monty's role is going forward.  Rodgers does not put up with stupid players and this was as bad as it gets.

That's a solid point.  MM almost never does that.  Also almost never cuts a player after a bad play, no matter how bad.  I think it depends a lot on the locker room.  But like some one else brought up, why pay him to play somewhere else?  Plant him on the scout team and keep him inactive on game day.

The play was incredibly dumb live, everyone and their dog was wondering why coaches didn't tell Ty to take a knee.  Turns out they did and he took it out anyway, sounds like a sock party for Monty.

I'm curious if the reason he slammed his helmet was b/c he completely missed the blitz in the series where AR was sacked moments after he received the snap.

How can you trust a player/teammate from now on after a move like this?

Don't see how he can return kickoffs any longer and his role in the offense is extremely limited bordering on being completely phased out. Strikes me as a potentially serious locker room issue and it'll be interesting to see how the team handles it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but MM does not cut players. Aside from that, you shouldn't cut a player for a bad play. This play was a bad play in a mediocre body of work for Monty (same was true for Bostick). If he's cut it won't be for this play, it will be because he's not bringing much to the table and certainly not bringing enough to justify sideline tantrums.
