Good Lord, Pritzl was 0-11 shooting, 0-9 on 3's. What the hell happened? Even I would make one I think.
This is a bad team. Next year might be Gard's last if this continues. Next year a lot of players playing now will not see the court.
I guess my disappointment (besides being down 18-1 to start the game) is that EVERY year with Bo, his "new" team would struggle early....but, by late January, you see the improvement and how the coaching got them to win. I don't see that. I did have hope. I still have hope. But I do not see that yet.
This is not a good team right now.
How bad must VV defense be? Does he rebound and immediately throw the ball at the scorers table?
Gard has some messed up rotations (I've said it before, not that he has a ton to work with). Any team that doesn't go zone against Bucky with an automatic double team of Happ is crazybonkers.
Game before Gard kept Ford off the floor against the zone (which seemed stupid at the time), today he leaves him in and demonstrated he might be our best shooter. Charlie T? Players are getting worse.
Lots of empty seats......
and are they even good enough to get to the NIT??? Surly not the NCAA tournament.....
WIAA?
They'd get beat in the regional final.

oye 0-11 Pritzl has a hitch in his shot, I can't explain it but its not smooth.
one ugly stat of the day......in the last 10 minutes of the Nebraska game and the first 6 minutes of the Northwestern game Badgers have been outscored 48-9
How did they get 9?
Brutal finish to the half in Maryland.
Scoreless for the last 4:36 of the half. Went from a one point lead to a ten point deficit.
Fought back well in second, but as soon as Maryland starts aggressively doubling Happ they are toast. Reuters misses a wide open three off the backboard without even hitting the rim. Davison misses a three. Happ front rims a shot after he beats a double team.
They just don't have enough talent to compete. The best example of that was in the first half when TJ Schlundt missed a layup on a break. He was by himself, tried a reverse layup, and didn't even draw iron. This is not to rip on Schlundt, he's a walk on player whose role is to work hard in practice and get garbage time minutes as a reward. He's not supposed to be getting meaningful minutes.
After an 0-11 last game, Pritzl looks awful in limited minutes (0-2) and hasn't played in the second half. When Schlundt and Moesch are getting minutes over him, you know there's a big problem.
40 minutes of bench play with 0 points.
Badgers down 3 at the end of the game. Davison inexplicably drives for a layup with 3 seconds left. You understand getting beat because of a lack of physical talent. That was just stupid and reflects a terrible lack of situational awareness (and reflects really badly on coaching).
Gard said that wasn't the called play (obviously). Chalk it up to a rookie mistake and hopefully he uses it as a learning experience.

It was nice to see Bucky competitive in a game. Iverson might be improving before our eyes. Aside from that...
Good lord Bucky had a ****ton of airballs. That in itself was incredible.
Alex I and Chuck T. CT and AI. For AI, everything happens a moment late. The only thing he does instinctively is rebound (yet, not a good rebounder). After that, he misses teammates when a crisp pass would lead to an easy basket, he is indecisive shooting, he's essentially a human offense destroyer. CT on the other hand, can play physical, can shoot, but has the worst hands of any Badger since JP Gavinski. He also manages to miss layups at an alarming rate. 40 combined minutes of no scoring from these two.
I know Pritzl is in an incredible shooting slump, but Moesh and Shlundt should not have 13 minutes to his 6.
Remember when Aleem Ford had 9 minutes against Nebraska? Yeah, Gards rotations are ****ed up.
This team needs a point guard.
Down by 3 with 9 seconds and we go for 2 really sums up this season, doesn't it.
This team needs a PG? They need a whole damn team. Haven't watched a Badgers B Ball game in weeks. Why bother?
What a dramatic fall from grace but that's on Bo and his self appointed disciple Gard. It's clear it was a mistake to hire him and that's not his fault. While he might be an OK coach he can't recruit for **** and in college it's 80% who you can recruit.
Blow this program up already and start over by getting a real coach and leader.
I still think Gard has wierd rotations, but they beat the Illini.
AVV saw time in both halves, wierd
Weird?

Another slow start, down 15-2. It is so hard to win when you get down by this much so early.
The Badgers talent is so overmatched in this game, the only thing from keeping it from being an even bigger blowout is that Michigan is on cruise control.
Yeah, they are getting destroyed. Just put AVV, CT, AI and whoever can walk the ball up the court. Rest up Happ, Davidson, etc. nothing more to lose.
For those not impressed with Trice, man it would look nice for someone other than Davidson to bring the ball up the court

I agree. And it would be nice if Davison could have gotten surgery and not wasted what should have been a redshirt year playing with one arm. The most disappointing thing about this season may be 4 years from now when Reuvers and Davison have left the program a year earlier than they should have.
Showing a little life
I understand that even when on the bench, Happ is the Badgers best scoring option, but man he takes some bad shots. Imagine if he had confidence in one or two teammates to creat on their own.

Whenever I watch him this year, I wonder if they'd have been better off playing him 6-8 minutes a game on that Final 4 team when he redshirted. Would have having him against Duke in that Championship game made any difference? Probably not. Maybe he wasn't going to get any minutes anyway and maybe he wasn't physically ready, but how good would he have looked forcing double teams that resulted in wide open threes by guys like Gasser, Dukan, Kaminsky, (and Koenig like last year) than the guys they put around him this year?

A bad shot by Happ is better than the shots most of their other players will get on their own.
I was just thinking, when did getting beat by Bucky go from a quality loss into a bad loss for teams? Probably the last time was 20+ years ago?
Bucky made it a little interesting. Imagine if the defense wasn’t horrible in the first half and if they were capable of playing a little faster in the last 5 minutes
Reason #13 why I want him on my team
Ethan Happ is the last person #Badgers will blame, but he continues to shoulder issues.

"I was 12 of 23 from the field and I didn't take a shot outside the paint. Can't do that."
I'm not sure what chance Bucky has tonite vs Purdue -10.. but a huge nite for the big man, Frank the Tank's #44 will be raised to the rafters during halftime..
Remember this ?????
About zero chance of beating Purdue, unless Frank throws on a uni.
Called it!

Looks like Gard learned how to coach again.
He’ll forget again.
Did not see that coming.
Might as well make the rest of the Frank Kaminsky nights
