Losers of two straight, a coaching staff in confusion, a team in seeming disarray.

Yep, the Lions are coming to town!

Green Bay (6-2) hosts Detroit (1-7) on Sunday, November 15, 12:00 LFT on FOX.

Packers look to extend their 23 year, 24 game home winning streak against the Lions.

Heaven only knows who Martha Ford will ax after this one.

Kinda like what happened in San Fran?  A change in QB and they win???  Yup, they won with that Gabbert guy.   So, I wonder if detoilet will have a better game plan coming to Green Bay.     I just want the Packers to crush someone......one time, is that to much to ask?

Offense been stagnant all year? No problem, we get to play the Packers!

Old QB breaking down, rumors swirling of their demise? Got that covered, too! Dom & co. will make 'em look like world-beaters!

Worst in the league at running the ball? Hey, the Packers are coming up! We will probably be out of the cellar by the end of the game.

Defense a mere shell of what it used to be? Just watch us pressure Rodgers all game long, have him dancing and scrambling, making him hold the ball for too long while waiting for a receiver to get open. Why, we will look like the second coming of the 85 Bores!

Good luck, Packers! You need it.

If they lose to the pathetic Lions at home what do I think happens?  They could be in danger of the wheels coming off really quick.  I think there are points in a season that you HAVE to win in that spot to get things right.

one of two things will happen.  One would be to boot stomp the Lions at home or they will give up another 500 points and poop the bed.

Unfortunately, we cannot count the Detroit game as a sure win, right now. Detroit always plays us tough, no matter what the records are. How many times have we seen a superior team in the Packers play down to the level of their opponents? Over the years, quite a bit! Rodgers will get tested even though Suh is no longer with the Lions.

Our defense will get tested because in the last three games our defense allowed almost 1500 yards of offense by our opponents.  I am hoping The Pack comes into the game with a huge chip on their shoulders and plays the kind of winning football we know they are capable of playing.

Great, the Vikings play at 3:00 PM but the stupid NFL rules have Fox up here showing 'paid programming' at noon while CBS will show some game no one will watch. Maybe I can finish yard work.

I can't imagine this team losing that game.

Stafford is a head case, but the Lions have the offensive talent to put up 400-500 yards on this defense. Johnson, Tate, and Ebron are better as a group that the Packers counterparts. This could be a closer game than expected, especially if the Packers don't open up a big lead by halftime and the Lions think they have a chance. They've also had 2 weeks to prepare and will likely have some things on offense with a new OC that aren't on film.

Having had to see the Lions living in Michigan, their DBs and LBs are terrible in pass coverage. It was covered up by a dominant DL last year, but it should be a field day for a "normal" AR directed team. Add in the fact that they are at home and the hard counts work better to allow AR to get some better pre-snap reads and free plays and it should be a 34-27 type win.

If the Pack cant get some CB's healthy for this game it could get ugly. Shields and Rollins were out against Carolina and then Heyward left in the first quarter, possible concussion. That left us with Randall and Goodson and Gunter (who only played ST's).

So if its Randall, Goodson and Gunter, with Hyde as the slot again. Stafford, Megatron and crew could very well wreak havoc on our secondary.

The Packers were not competitive for six quarters against Denver and Carolina before their second half rally Sunday. Two of the team's strengths -- scoring defense and offensive line - have struggled. We've seen these dips from the Packers before. Whether it's early in the season or not, Mike McCarthy's Packers usually have some sort of in-season lull. They are still 6-2 and we'll be a lot more concerned if they lose in Minnesota in two weeks. The schedule sets up favorably with four straight division games, including two against the Lions. This team and quarterback are too smart not to figure things out.

I agree, offensively I expect them to figure it out. The question is can they correct the defensive issues, whatever those are.

McCarthy: Role with offense not going to change

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's Monday evening press conference:

  • (On Eddie Lacy) Went through workouts and so far and so good. He did the full workout.
  • (On running game) Running the ball is important, stopping the run is important. We didn't do a good enough of a job. At the end of the day, it comes to doing the things.
  • (On pass protection) Not where it needed to be. Mental errors were one of hte higher grades of the season from a negative standpoint. That's disappointing in your eighth game. We talked about it extensively. Went through the mental mistakes. It's all about winning the next game. Lord, knows we need to win a game.
  • (On second half) You don't learn just from the good things. I thought the offense came out the second half big play with Randall. I suppose it was fun to watch.
  • (On arguing on sideline) I didn't talk about that today. I don't have any concerns. Frnakly, I like it, it shows our players care. I know what was said afterward.
  • (On Jake Ryan) OK. It was in line with what the rest of the team played.
  • (On Richard Rodgers) Did some good things. I think history and watch around the league and the team we played against the tight end is a big target down there. I always felt the quickest way is down the field.
  • (On if losing patience with Lacy) I'm trying to go through to help him get better. He's not doing very well. I'm trying to help him.
  • (On getting involved in offense) I'll watch more film and keep doing what I'm doing. Our responsibilities have been fine. That's not going to change.
  • (On personnel groups) That's something we'll look at tomorrow. I'm not there yet how to attack their defense. Part of that is match-ups and things they've seen.
  • (On seeing offense similar as Rodgers)  Every season is a work in progress. It's not about one guy. To run this offense, it's making the quarterback successful. Running the football would help. We have to stop him from getting hit.
  • (On whether he needs to fire up his players)  I would think all of our players and coaches have the red ass today.

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers' Monday evening press conference:

  • (General statement) You saw all there weapons on the first series. Cam made a couple big plays. He hit Olsen down the middle. We tightened up and held them to a field goal. Tough stretch was second quarter. Started on third and 16, started with Cam scrambling. And then threw it over the top and scored. Next three possessions the field position (wasn't good). We had them in a 2-minute situation and gave the touchdown over the half. We challenged the guys at halftime. The most encouraging thing is how we responded. They had six series and we had three three and outs and we had D's interception. I thought our guys fought their hearts out. We lost our dime defense when Casey went out. We made a step in the right direction on third downs. We want to be more consistent. The big plays jumped up and bit us. I thought our guys showed what they're made of, it could have gotten real ugly.
  • (On next step) I felt this way: we knew it was the No. 1 rush team, they do a lot of scheme things. I was pleased with the way we played the run. For the run team they are, we did pretty well. We didn't do that in Denver. In the pass game, I think they had six big plays. You can't give up those kind of big plays. And that becomes hard to overcome. We pressured a lot but they were max protecting a lot. We ended up filling the lanes and forcing quick throws. I thought that helped us in defending the run.
  • (On this week) Totally different team. Being a division game, we played them late. Familiar with Stafford and Johnson and Tate. They have some new coaches. They'll be different. This will be a different game.
  • (On Goodson) I think Demetri did a good job overall. He was in one-on-one situations. Had some good coverages. Tough one was the 2-minute situation. What we asked him to do.
  • (On spying Newton) We had a couple of different ways. After he pulled the ball and scrambled you don't want to let that happen. Then we had five and six man rushes to try to keep pressure in his face.
  • (On third-and-16) Anytime third and 16 don't want to give up a 59-yarder. That was a big boost for you. That's something we've done a good job of. Not letting them convert third and longs. That's disappointing.
  • (On pass rush) The Denver game I thought they did the best job of mixing run, pass, play-action and getting the ball out. I think you saw we pressured him more during the course of the game and max protecting. It doesn't matter how many you bring. Cam got the ball out of his hand quickly. You have to be careful rushing too freely with a guy like him.
  • (On Jake Ryan) This is the most extensive Jake has played. I thought he did some good things. We'll look at what the Lions do and what kind of play time he'll have. He's a young guy. I thought Randall had another good game. You've seen him make two big plays. He had a lot of man-to-man coverage.
  • (On slants) It's a timing throw. ONe of them he stuck for a 20-yard gain. When in that situation you'll win some and lose some but you're not going to sit there.Just have to hold your leverage and not let him get his body in front of you. Cam put it right on him.

The Packers will beat the Lions by at least 30 points.  I'm thinking a 50 burger here.  Let's say 52-17.

And, to be honest, they will be 11-2 heading into road games with the Raiders that will be much harder than expected but the Packers will pull out,  and then the Cardinals in a game that will determine who does/doesn't get a BYE in the NFC come playoffs.
