According to Mike Demovsky, Packers DT Mike Pennel has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2016 regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. Pennel is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.

Well this f**king sucks.  Now it's Guion and Daniels for the first 4 games and the "heir apparent" NT for this team is now 1 failed test from a career change.  Does this affect Raji?  Or does NT become a higher priority in the draft?  Either way you put it, really sucks to see a young player f**k up like this.

Hopefully it's just a mistake on his part and the PED's weren't the reason for his solid play last year.

I figured DL would be top priority in this draft anyway, but this just seals it. Hopefully he learns from this because the penalties get harsher from here. I hate that for the second year in a row we have a DL missing the first 4.

As far as I know, he has been a good citizen in Green Bay, doesn't give the coaches any gruff, and hasn't half-assed in practices/games. I'm willing to give him a break on this one if he gets his chit together.

But he's on double-secret probation.

Based on his apparent immaturity in college and stupidity in life, this 4 game suspension could actually be a positive for him. If he does not learn from this, and Green Bay is a great organization to help him here, then he isn't long for the NFL regardless of talent.

I see the cowgirl's Randy Gregory jumped into the same boat....

Shocking. I bet no one saw this coming. Two failed tests in Nebraska? That means he probably failed 10. At Nebraska the first 8 positives are discounted. Then a failed test at the combine?

Randy Gregory's NFL career. 3 failed tests, 1 suspension, 0 sacks.

I think they probably were planning to talk to Raji anyway, probably waiting until the combine to do so. I'm sure the Pennell issue gives Raji some leverage on GB, but this is a good draft for DL talent so I doubt GB is going to be desperate to resign him.

There is both room and money available for Raji....if they can agree on contract length.
Raji is old enough he likely wants the security of a 3-4 year deal, but is he willing to continue playing for $2M-$3M/year?
