I've been throwing bits of this together for a couple of weeks now but the main board is kind of slow so what the heck.
1 Kansas City Luke Joeckel OT Texas A&M Joeckel is the best player in the draft. There is no QB worth the #1 pick so the Chiefs sent their #2 to San Fran for Alex Smith and take the guy who will protect his blind side for the next decade. Brandon Albert is being shopped and would be better inside or to the right even if he stays.
2 Jacksonville Sharrif Floyd DT Florida Jacksonville is in the position to simply take the best player available and he'll likely fill a need.
3 Detroit Eric Fisher OT Central Michigan ***TRADE*** Reggie McKenzie gets his wish and is able to trade back a bit and garner more picks (Detroit's 3rd and 7th this year and a 4th next). Detroit gets ahead of Philly to grab the guy they really need who is also the best player available. The Lions line will actually be much better this year with Fisher and Riley Reiff replacing Jeff Backus and Gosder Cherilus.
4 Philadelphia Dee Milliner CB Alabama Philly needs to overhaul their defensive backfield and Milliner is a great place to start.
5 Oakland Bjeorn Werner DE Florida State The Raiders need players basically everywhere and Werner's not only a relatively safe pick but is fairly stout and should help Oakland's anemic pass rush. They would have liked to trade down one more time but nobody needs to trade up to this point.
6 Cleveland Chance Warmack OG Alabama Norv Turner's offenses work best when they can simply maul opposition in to submission while waiting to take their shots downfield. This is insanely high for an OG but many feel Warmack is one of the top three players in this draft and is a perfect fit for Cleveland's O-Line.
7 Arizona Lane Johnson OT Oklahoma Carson Palmer and whomever else lines up at QB for Arizona will need better protection than any of the current cavalcade of crap has had. Johnson has been moving up draft charts as teams see he has the elite athleticism to succeed at LT. He's a bit more raw than Fisher or Joekel but no longer considered a reach at this point.
8 Buffalo Cordarelle Patterson WR Tennessee Buddy Nix may be an idiot, but he does realize that whomever his starting QB will be needs some decent targets to throw to. Patterson's a potential game breaker in waiting.
9 NY Jets Dion Jordan OLB Oregon The Jets need talent, especially in the pass rush department, and Jordan offers quickness and explosive playmaking ability as well as versatility.
10 Tennessee Ezekial Ansah DE BYU Ansah is as raw as they come, but also as explosive. By all reports he's a good kid and a hard worker also and would be a great fit here.
11 San Diego Barkevious Mingo OLB LSU Shut out of the Offensive Tackle sweepstakes the Chargers turn attention to their pass rush with a guy whose triangle numbers compare favorably to DaMarcus Ware and Clay Matthews.
12 Miami Xavier Rhodes CB Florida State Rhodes may be an even better press prospect than Milliner though he lacks the latter's fluidity.
13 Tampa Bay Sheldon Richardson DT Missouri Richardson is a great fit for Tampa's attacking scheme as he can play the run as well as collapse the pocket.
14 Carolina Sylvester Williams DT North Carolina Williams is simlar to Richardson but slightly safer and less explosive.
15 New Orleans Star Lotulelei DT Utah At some point we'll get a more definative word on Lotulelei's health. In this scenario there are still some questions but the value is too good and New Orleans is transitioning to a 3-4 which is predicated on a good NT.
16 Saint Louis Jonathan Cooper OG North Carolina The Rams are serious about upgrading their line and keeping Sam Bradford from being the next David Carr. With Scot Wells healthy, a newly-signed Jake Long and Roger Saffold moving to the right side adding Cooper would help make a major upgrade to the Rams line.
17 Pittburgh Jarvis Jones OLB Georgia Jones has top-5 talent but the Spinal Stenosis will scare some teams away. Pittsburgh lets the draft come to them and the value Jones represents is too good not to take at this point.
18 Dallas DJ Fluker OT Alabama The Cowboys dodge a bullet when Pittsburgh tabs Jones, leaving them the Alabama mauler to man the RT position in Big D.
19 NY Giants Margus Hunt DE/DT SMU The Giants aren't shy about taking explosive players who many think are a bit raw, nor have they seen a potentially good pass rusher they wouldn't take. Hunt is a bit raw, but he's versatile and could play inside or out.
20 Chicago Desmond Trufant CB Washington Chicago's defense needs an influx of youth and talent. While linebacker may be a bigger need Trufant offers better value.
21 Cincinnati Kenny Vaccaro FS Texas Vaccaro is the first Longhorn and true safety off the board and gives Cincinnati a roving and versatile center fielder.
22 Saint Louis (from Washington) Tavon Austin WR West Virginia A more explosive version of Danny Amendola who can also be a dynamic return man? Yes please!
23 Minnesota Sam Montgomery DE LSU Jared Allen is entering the final year of his contract, is over 30 and had surgery on his knee and shoulder already this offseason. Everson Griffen and Brian Robison are more rotational guys and the hard working Montgomery would be a nice shot of youth as well as being able to play on either end of the line.
24 Indianapolis Robert Woods WR USC Woods has the most natural hands of any of this year's top receivers and the Colts will continue to build around Andrew Luck.
25 Minnesota (from Seattle) Johnathan Hankins DT Ohio State Kevin Williams is entering his walk year, is well on the other side of 30 and he's the only quality DT the Vikings have so adding the talented Hankins helps build the core further.
26 Philadelphia (from Green Bay) Geno Smith QB West Virginia ***TRADE*** Geno Smith is a good candidate to be the Eagles future at QB. Nick Foles is a good prospect as a passer but is about as mobile as Drew Bledsoe. The Eagles give Green Bay picks # 35 and 67 while trading Foles to Buffalo for #71.
27 Houston Matt Barkley QB USC The Eagles were right that Houston was looking at a QB, it just wasn't Smith. Matt Schaub has been solid at QB but he's not been great nor has he been durable. TJ Yates was a nice story a couple of seasons ago but he's no more than a solid backup. Barkley was considered a top prospect after his junior season but injury and a lackluster senior campaign have hurt his stock a bit. Houston feels they'll be a contender for a while though so grabbing a potential franchise QB this late in the round is a good value.
28 Denver Damontre Moore DE Texas A&M After the Elvis Dumervil fiasco, Denver finds themselves in need of a DE as well as DTs. Luckily for them, a talent like Moore is still on the board. Unluckily for them that talent IS Moore and the potential risk he carries.
29 New England Keenan Allen WR California The Patriots generally don't take wideouts this early but Allen's too good a value to pass on at this point. His injury concerns aren't enough to drop him out of the first round.
30 Atlanta Tyler Eifert TE Notre Dame Tony Gonzalez is back for one more year but Eifert is the perfect replacement and adds versatility for this year also.
31 San Francisco Eric Reid FS LSU The Niners didn't get gutted as badly by free agency as the Ravens did and have a lot of picks so they can simply grab whomever is the best candidate. In this case, it's Reid who can also replace the departed Goldson.
32 Baltimore Manti Te'o ILB Notre Dame Te'o's too solid a prospect to fall any further and Ozzie Newsome won't pass on the value here. The training camp circus should quickly blow over and it will be business as usual for the defending champs.
Round Two
33 Jacksonville Menelik Watson OT Florida State Eugene Monroe is entering his contract year and Eben Britton has broken down. Watson can start on the right side immediately and if Monroe decides to move on he's versatile enough to play the left side.
34 San Francisco (from Kansas City) Datone Jones DE UCLA Last year the San Fran defense just wasn't the same without the aged Justin Smith in the lineup. Jones could eneter the rotation early and be a good replacement down the road.
35 Green Bay (from Philly) Jessie Williams DT Alabama Green Bay's run defense needs an anchor and some real beef. Ryan Pickett is near the end, Jerel Worthy blew out his knee and BJ Raji will be in line behind Aaaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews for a new contract. Williams makes sense on a lot of levels.
36 Detroit Tank Carradine DE Florida State The Lions continue to build in the trenches and restock their pass rush.
37 Cincinnati (from Oakland) Alec Ogletree OLB Georgia Ogletree is versatile enough to play any linebacker spot the Bengals need him too. He's also idiot enough to fall to the Bengals in the second round as he has much better talent than this spot.
38 Arizona Alex Okafor DE Texas Arizona continues to re-build in the trenches while not feeling the need to jump on a QB out of desperation with Carson Palmer in the fold.
39 NY Jets Jonathan Banks CB Mississippi State The Jets add more size/speed to their defense, which is especially important if they do trade Derelle Revis.
40 Tennessee Terrance Williams WR Baylor As Jake Locker continues to develop they'll lean on Chris Johnson but it's still important to give a young QB viable targets.
41 Buffalo Arthur Brown LB Kansas State The Bills purges 2/3 of their linebacking corps and the versatile Brown can step in to the middle or weak side.
42 Miami Justin Pugh OT Syracuse Jake Long signed in Saint Louis and while Jonathan Martin played on the left side at Stanford he had some issues with speed rushers as a rookie.
43 Tampa Bay David Amerson CB NC State Amerson represents good value at this point and the fact he fills a need is definitely in the Bucs' favor.
44 Carolina Blidi Wren-Wilson CB Connecticut BWW showed at his pro day what the best scouts already knew: the kid can fly around the field. While considered by many to be a more man-cover defender, he's versatile enough to excel in either scheme.
45 San Diego Terron Armstead OT Arkansas-Pine Bluff Some may question Armsetad's readiness to take on NFL-quality pass rushers but no one questions his athleticism and upside. The Chargers will do everything they can to groom him for immediate insertion in to the lineup.
46 Saint Louis Matt Elam S Florida The Rams keep stockpiling talent in a now tough division.
47 Dallas Justin Hunter WR Tennessee Never let it be said that Jerruh will pass on a flashy prospect.
48 Pittburgh John Jenkins NT Georgia Pittsburgh again stands pat and this time takes the heir to Casey Hampton. Jenkins is a mountain with the quicks to also penetrate and collapse the pocket if he stays motivated, which Pittsburgh excels at.
49 NY Giants Zach Ertz TE Stanford Mertellus Bennet left in free agency? Okay, see ya, buh bye. Ertz can block and catch and has the cersatility the Giants desire.
50 Chicago Kevin Minter LB LSU Minter's stock has dropped slightly due to minor concerns about his overall speed but he's a terrific player and won't slide too far.
51 Washington Markus Wheaton WR Oregon State The Redskins continue to build around RG III.
52 Minnesota Logan Ryan CB Rutgers Josh Robinson might be a player but Chris Cook is a wild card the Vikings can't count on and is entering his contract year. Ryan offers good size and can step in on nickel situations right away as there's little depth at the position in Minnesota.
53 Cincinnati Eddie Lacy RB Alabama The Bengals tab the bruising 'Bama back to grow with their young offense.
54 Miami (from Indianapolis) Brandon Jenkins DE Florida State Miami would love to get some pass rush help for Cameron Wake. Enter Jenkins who may need some time to develop as an all-around dfender but can add a lot as a situational pass rusher right away.
55 Green Bay Jonathan Cyprien S Florida International In sticking to the Best Available Player model, Green Bay grabs the hard-hitting Cyprien to add to their stable of defensive backs.
56 Seattle Ryan Swope WR Texas A&M Seattle is building the team based on speed and playmaking ability. Swope has shown he has the speed Seattle covets.
57 Houston DJ Swearinger FS South Carolina Talent meets need as this is the perfect spot for Swearinger to fall.
58 Denver Kawann Short DT Purdue Short slides a bit but Denver is happy he did. They need quality DTs in a big way.
59 New England Jamar Taylor CB Boise State Sooner or later the Patriots have to hit on a corner, don't they?
60 Atlanta Jamie Collins DE Southern Mississippi The Flacons take the opportunity to upgrade their pass rush.
61 San Francisco Ace Sanders WR South Carolina The Niners add a potential playmaker in the slot and a potential return man with Ted Ginn out of town.
62 Baltimore David Bakhtiari OT Colorado Michael Oher has proven to be better on the right side, Bryant McKinnie isn't reliable enough to maybe even be brought back and Jah Reid doesn't look like the answer so it's not like this pick doesn't fill a need also.
Round Three
63 Kansas City Bennie Logan DT/DE LSU Adding talent to the D-line is almost as important in Kansas City as was finding a quarterback.
64 Jacksonville EJ Manuel QB Florida State Blaine Gabbert will get one more chance to start and Manuel needs time to develop footwork before he'll be ready to see the field but he has tremendous upside.
65 Oakland (from Detroit) Akeem Spence DT Illinois Spence is a good, all-around DT who can penetrate as well as play the run. The Raiders aren't in a hurry to jump on a QB with Matt Flynn on board though Ryan Nassib is tempting here.
66 Oakland Robert Alford CB SE Louisiana The Raiders need to rebuild their secondary and Alford is a good starting point.
67 Green Bay (from Philly) Montee Ball RB Wisconsin Green Bay finally gets an every-down-capable back to complement Aaron Rodgers and the offense. He'll team with DuJuan Harris to give Green Bay the running threat they've been missing.
68 Cleveland Jordan Reed TE Florida The Browns have been plugging defensive holes via free agency and leaving the draft for offensive talent acquisition. Reed gives the Browns a seam-splitting option to play along
with Jordan Cameron if he finally breaks through or to merely supplant him.
69 Arizona Tyler Wilson QB Arkansas The quarterback run constinues as Arizona enters the fray. With some offensive line improvements and Carson Palmer on board Wilson may survive long enough to learn how good Larry Fitzgerald really is.
70 Tennessee Travis Frederick OL Wisconsin Opening runing lanes for Chris johnson and keeping Jake Locker upright are noble goals. Frederick can play center or either guard spot.
71 Philadelphia (from Buffalo) Xavier Nixon OT Florida Jason Peters is a question mark to return at full strength and even if he does Nixon could play on the right side for the time being.
72 NY Jets DeAndre Hopkins WR Clemson Mark Sanchez may not be a great quarterback, but he doesn't have a chance without some decent targets to throw to.
73 Tampa Bay Ryan Nassib QB Syracuse Josh Freeman enters his walk year with no promise of an extension. Nassib appears to be a good leader and can be a very good backup even if Freeman retains the starting job in Tampa after this season.
74 San Francisco (from Carolina) Kwame Geathers NT Georgia San Fran continues to load their defense with talent by adding a true nose tackle to the lineup.
75 New Orleans Michael Buchanan OLB Illinois Continuing their transition to a 3-4 defense, the Saints add some pass rush help.
76 San Diego Le'Veon Bell RB Michigan State Ryan Matthews has proven unreliable for a full season and seems to do best when there's someone to do the short-yardage dirty work.
77 Miami Giovanni Bernard RB North Carolina Bernard can offer the Dolphins a number of the things Reggie Bush did before leaving for Detroit.
78 Saint Louis Quinton Patton WR Louisiana Tech More offensive firepower for Sam Bradford.
79 Pittsburgh Dallas Thomas OT Virginia Pittsburgh needs to keep Ben Roethlisberger uproght. Getting David DeCastro back from injury will help but the line still has question marks everywhere else but Center. A versatile player like Thomas will find a home.
80 Dallas Kiko Alonso LB Oregon Alonso is a great fit for MLB in Mote Kiffen's cover-2, 4-3 defense.
81 NY Giants Michael Mauti LB Penn State The Giants add some beef to their defense with a solid thumper.
82 Miami (from Chicago) Darius Slay CB Mississippi State The Dolphins add another man-coverage corner who can hopefully step in to the nickle role as a rookie.
83 Minnesota Aaron Dobson WR Marshall Dobson makes some circus catches but falls a bit due to concerns about his strength and top-end speed. The Vikings are more than happy to land him in this spot.
84 Cincinnati Oday Aboushi OT Virginia Andre Smith didn't draw much attention before free agency from the team and hasn't drawn a lot since it opened from others. Aboushi is poised to step straight in to the lineup, if needed.
85 Washington Phillip Thomas S Fresno State The Redskins need to add talent on defense, especially on the back end, and Thomas fits the need as well as the value.
86 Indianapolis Zeke Motta S Notre Dame The Colts need to add speed and youth to their safety corps,
87 Seattle Emmett Cleary OT Boston College Breno Giacomini is not a good offensive tackle. He's decent depth at best. Here the Seahawks have a chance to replace him with a quality player.
88 Green Bay Steadman Bailey WR West Virginia Bailey doesn't wow anyone with his measurables but the guy is downright productive. Tavon Austin offered more flash but down-in, down-out Bailey was the guy who got open and got the job done. In Green Bay he won't be expected to start right away but Greg Jennings is gone and James Jones will be 30 and entering the final year of his contract.
89 Houston John Simon OLB Ohio State Simon has been turning some heads in workouts as he's been productive in college but there were questions about his athleticism he seems to be answering.
90 Denver Gerald Hodges LB Penn State The Broncos add a versatile linebacker.
91 New England Barrett Jones OL Alabama Jones is an extremely versatile lineman, having played every position in college. This makes him very attractive to the Patriots as he can probably play any position except Left Tackle at the next level.
92 Atlanta Larry Warford OG Kentucky Peter Konz likely moves in to the starting Center role this season so the Falcons add Warford to fill out their offensive line.
93 San Francisco Jordan Poyer CB Oregon State Smart player who also has return experience. Not the most aggressive hitter but that could change in San Fran.
94 Baltimore Brian Schwenke OC California Schwenke is a short-armed scrapper who can likely step in for the retired Matt Birk to help solidify the Ravens line.
95 Houston (compensatory) Conner Vernon WR Duke Vernon isn't the biggest or fastest receiver, but he may have the best hands in the draft and can make things happen after the catch.
96 Kansas City (compensatory) Will Davis CB Utah State Kansas City has a lot of work to do but getting a second corner who can play might be their biggest remaining need so having a player like Davis available here is much appreciated.
97 Tennessee (compensatory) Jonathan Franklin RB UCLA While not a big need, Franklin simply offers too good a value to pass on here and taking some of the load off of Chris Johnson would be a plus.
