MM names Tolzien as starter.  This is his chance to show he should be the #2 next year.

Pressure is now on for MM to craft a real game plan for Tolzien, not the ARod tough passing routes on 3rd downs (sideline outs, deep passes)  We need to be a more West Coast style offense, short passes, bootlegs, screens  (and please, stop throwing to Kuhn in flats or checkdowns--he can't move---put Franklin in if you are going to do that)

Pressure is also on Capers.  For all the good work they do getting backups ready to play, the meltdown the past two weeks at the end of the game is inexcusable.  If defense doesn't improve over the next 8 games, it really questions why we should keep Capers around.

And, lets not forget special teams.  Our kickoff return team is the worst in the NFL---its not the returners alone, but the fact that we are unable to block on returns.

See ya Wallace.

definitely not interested in playing football anymore.

Giants game isnt gonna be any easier. Theyve won 3 in a row and another win puts them right in the thick of that crappy division

I dont see us coming out of NY with a W unless we make huge strides on D and the passing game.

that leaves us at 5-5 going into critical game vs ViQueens

MM threw down the defense.  "We have a re-occuring issue I have to fix".  The obvious issue is the secondary, the clueless play by safeties, the failure to tackle by DBs.

BTW--MM was really, really testy.  "Why are you making Tolzien the QB going foward"----"Beause I'm the Head coach."  "Why did you challenge on Jordy's catch"  (Are you serious?"

Especially 8 men in the box against a patched up O line.

With our mash unit oline.  The o will have to have a balanced attack.

Gotta agree on Jennings.  He's a total stiff and doesn't belong on the field.  He's Marquand Manual-bad.  Not sure about Hyde right now, though, since Hayward will probably be shelved for several games once again.

Same for Newhouse - that's enough of that POS turnstile.  Just put Sherrod in there if he's physically ready.  I can't imagine how he could be worse.  Newhouse just about got Tolzien killed a couple of times at least, and suddenly Lacy didn't have nearly as many lane options with the ball with Newhouse playing patty-cake in the running game.  He's gotta go.

I will say that Tolzien certainly looked today like he'd be capable of being a pretty decent backup.

I remember that logo from 2010.  Wish the D looked as good right now as it did back then.  Sigh.  Can't say I see much light for this team right now.  Injuries and now the renewed suck on D has this season in a tailspin.

Problem with Hyde at S is that one of the primary jobs of S is to not let anything get behind him.  That is coincidentally Hyde's Achilles heal.

Hyde is a pure football player with a head for the game.  If his job is to not let anything get behind him, he won't.  I think he has all the tools to be a very good S in this league and would love to see the switch happen in the off-season.

Offense will be okay it will be bumpy at times but just have to hold the fort down, Tolzien showed more in one game than Senaca did in 9 years, interceptions be damned.   As Bubbleboy pointed out in another thread the last 2 weeks and the next 2 weeks will be what some fans have experienced for decades we should be so lucky.

Really starting to get concerned about the D, for a stretch they were playing very well but not so much.  There is just too much individual talent to be this bad as a unit.  These are big IFs but maybe just maybe once clay gets to ditch the club, hayward comes back and Hyde to S it can be a servicable D.?

33, 34, 35... it doesn't matter how many guys you put back there if they all play as lousy as this bunch does.

On the first td pass to Cooper it looked like Jennings had no clue at all where the football was. He ran straight to where the CB, House I think, was. Cooper was 8-10 yards away.

Let's be realistic about Tolizien.  He threw two picks, should have thrown another.  He can't run the ARod offense of timing throws into small windows.  The question is if we can simplify the offense enough to make him productive.

Apparently you missed him getting beat in coverage by throws to guys that got behind him.  Read his draft analysis and look at the games this year where it happened.  If he can fix that, great - make him a S.  But it's foolish to think you can just stick him there and he'll be an upgrade right away because "he's a pure football player".

That's pretty damn obvious at this point. He may not be the fastest guy in the world (but then safeties don't have to be), but he's smart and he knows how to tackle. There's no excuse to not start working him at safety. Banjo looks like he may be a decent backup/role-player, but Jennings and McMillian? Flush those turds.

TT has to bring in a vet QB.  Who knows how long Rodgers will be out.  It's obvious that Wallace and Tolzien are not NFL starting QB's.   And, McCarthy has already named Tolzien the starter for next week.  Ouch!  I guess we knew that if Rodgers goes down for more than a game or two our playoff hopes go down too but there has to be better QB's looking for work out there.
