This will be sacrilege to some here, but I thought Tolzien looked a lot better than Flynn did when coming off the bench cold.  With time to prepare and having MM develop a game plan around him, I think he will be fine.  Yes, he had a couple of really bad throws that resulted in picks, but considering he has been up on the active roster for 6 days and likely got few if any practice reps, I was really pleased with his performance.

No idea how anyone can say after this one game that he isn't capable of being an NFL QB.

This. One thing that really stuck out after Flynn, Harell and Wallace is Tolzien has a pro arm. He's obviously not there yet but he has the tools to become a solid backup.

The Packers motto is unofficially "draft and develop" but it's hard to make it work when  the guys you draft can't stay on the field.

Nick Perry #1 pick in 2012, finally shows some promise, breaks foot, comes back shaky and looked like he got hurt again.  Jerel Worthy #2 pick in 2012 hasn't played yet, and Casey Heyward another #2 has had a terrible 2nd year and injuries haven't done him any favors.  That 2012 draft should have helped in 2013 and it's not happening thanks to the injuries.

I'm starting to worry that Perry in particular is one of those guys that just can't stay healthy and it will kill his career.  I think he's got some talent, but if he can't stay healthy for more than a few weeks at a time, he'll never fully develop.

Heyward has been just awful this year, I almost think the Pack needs to IR him until he's totally got that hammy healed.

I think that is what we could have expected without any pt, I am hoping he looks better with reps, we don't need to replace AR, just can't make killer plays (in a bad way) like he did today, just about every throw was off target today and if we didn't have balling WR's, it wouldn't have been close - i think he can get better with reps and timing with WR's.

Tolzien showed me a little more arm strength today than what I remember of him at Wisconsin, and considering he was thrown to the fire I thought he played pretty well.   No one will confuse him for Aaron Rodgers, but he played good enough today for them to win.

The thing you have to like about him is he's a gamer and doesn't seem to get rattled.  I can't say the same thing about Seneca Wallace.

The injuries do suck, but it seems like for whatever reason a number of teams are getting hammered and these aren't scrubs.  Julio Jones.  Doug Martin.  Arian Foster,  Reggie Wayne.   I could go on and on.

I thought Tolzien looked fine today. Couple of bad throws, which is to be expected. And those batted balls are frustrating. But he made some plays and can actually throw it more than 5 yards downfield.

The problems today were red zone offense and of course the defense. With Rodgers out, Crosby can't be missing FGs. And the Pack can't be turning it over in the red zone. WRs made some great catches, but Jones and Nelson just missed TDs that could have changed this entire ballgame.

What was really disheartening is the defense. Clearly CM III isn't the same player with that club. Neal and Perry are invisible. Hayward has looked awful when he's played, which hasn't been much. Except for Shields, Lattimore, and the D-line, the defense looks really shaky. Maybe you get away with that with an MVP QB, but that's not our situation in the near future.

Steal one game of the 3 that Rodgers misses and then run the table to end the season.  10 - 6 might get us in the dance.

MM needs to adjust his play calling.  Throwing on 80% of your 3rd and 1's with a guy fresh off the PS killed the momentum we had in the 1rst half.

Put Banjo or Hyde at safety already.  Capers refusal to acknowledge Doc Jennings stinks has cost us several games over the last 2 seasons.

Going forward Packers fans will just have to lower their expectations. The Packers are a team built around Rodgers, there is no one the Packers can bring in and replace iim.

The packers need to fix 2 things

1) figure out why they are so injuries prone.

2) change there luck if the current injury trend is just bad luck.

In the Long run perhaps latter this year, perhaps next year the Packers can be a  beast of a team.

they should have had the same priorities the last couple of years.

Either way this is Compers last winter in GB

If Capers is out, I'd like to see Rex Ryan after teh Jets can him. He's a goof, but his defenses can play.

If they bring in Rexy and McCarthy being in Green Bay the Old Country Buffet will be bankrupt within a month

I'm not lowering my expectations one bit.

I expect the Packers to play well week in and week out. We may not win every week, but I expect a much better effort than what we saw today.

Injuries happen, and the team has to deal with them. Other teams do. Like the one we played today.

I expect our DBs not to have their heads up their asses when the season is half gone.

I expect our players to be in good enough condition to play 60 minutes of football. How the hell can a defense wear down when they haven't been on the field for 20 minutes through 3 quarters of play?

I expect our defense not to allow 3rd and long conversions. Not to mention 4th and 21. I don't give a damn about our injury situation, what the game plan may be, or any of that other crap. That is inexcusable under any circumstances.

While MM is pissed off, he needs to take a look at himself, too. While I agree and support his ideals that our offense doesn't 'change' because Rodgers is out, calling pass plays on 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 2 is...bad play calling. If we don't use Lacy in those situations, what the hell did we draft him for?

Rex isn't being fired. Jets are actually competing in what many pegged as a rebuilding year.

This!  I had said this earlier....something very simple yet MM called the same plays as if AR was in there.  I'd rather Tolzien hand the ball off on those 3rd and short plays...if we don't get it...run it again.

I am concerned that both Pickett and Jolly have hit the wall. Pick is just in what is probably his last year. Jolly is coming off his jail time and lacks long term stamina. After that, we are thin, just as we knew we were at the start of the year. Dat'one hasn't been the one and Worthy probly won't be back until next year. No help is on the way.

Have to hope EDS, Barclay, Sherrod are back, because Newhouse doesn't belong on the field.  Bulaga, Sherrod, Barclay - Newhouse is only on the field because they aren't. Lane on the field is another disaster, just because he isn't ready. No help on the way here either.

Still low on LBs. Clay isn't healthy, Perry is nicked, Neal is playing hurt - all because we don't have enough pro level LBs left after injures.

The only place that TT has let us down in backup QB. No Flynn on this team. Wallace and Tolzein are as good as it gets from here on out.

Going forward? Get healthy or go home.

Is Seneca gonna be out awhile with the groin? If so Pack will need to sign somebody at QB. Cant go into a game with only 1 healthy.

How bad are the injuries to EDS and Barclay? Thats gonna hurt big time if both are out for any time, and if so PAck will have to sign some back-up OL.

Wonder if Hayward goes on IR now with his recurring hammy.

Was Jolly hurt bad, never got anything after he went out (maybe I just missed it).

Going forward we have alot of work to do just to field 46 healthy guys.

Think I'm gonna go to YouTube and look up the The Doors The End, and play it non stop all night, as thats the way this season seems to be going. AR12 hurt and the D playing like grade schoolers.

Agree that Lattimore has looked very good, which would explain why he didnt really play against the Eagles.

And why he played very little against the Bears. Which is one of the most perplexing things about Capers' personnel scheme. Someone will look great for two games, making plays all over the field, and then he disappears to the back of the bench. Lattimore. Hyde. Even Banjo at times. Why can't Capers get those guys on the field? Because the "other guys" know the scheme better? Because the other team didn't run the play he wanted them to run? Heck, it's playmakers who count, not necessarily guys who are perfectly out of position all the time.

I hear that Tequila.  Once EDS went out I casually watched as I finished putting a preamp in my bass - far more productive than fretting about the busted to pieces GBP.

The injuries have really ruined the season for me at this point.  What I once thought was gonna be one of the most dominant GBP teams I've seen in awhile...  right out the window.  But it ain't over till it's over and we'll see if they can get healthy enough to make the playoffs.

Interesting snippet on how lucky we've been at QB as Packers fans:

Aaron Rodgers had only missed one start due to injury and he's logged 86 games.

Total, that's only about one third of the consecutive games Favre started.

For all the injuries the Packers have dealt with, no other team has that track record at the most important position, let alone with that kind of production. That's what, 342 out of 344 games with only one start lost to injury the other to resting for the playoffs. That's one missed preferred start in 21 1/2 seasons worth of games.

The Packers were well ahead of the curve on that front.
