Ha thanks guys.  Reason #1,897 why I'm not an NFL coach.  Kind of wish MM would have done that now rather than let Schum shank one.

This is why you need a a guy dedicated to this stuff.   No way you can figure all that out while worrying about other HC duties.  Pay some saber nerd 50k to be in your ear with this stuff.

Way too many pluses.

But here is a huge minus in play calling in the 4th quarter.

5:35.
Aaron Rodgers incomplete pass to the left intended for Jared Cook.
5:30
Aaron Rodgers incomplete pass to the left intended for Davante Adams defensed by Nevin Lawson.2317
5:26
Penalty: Too Many Men on Field on Lions (DeAndre Levy) 5 yards.2317
5:21
Aaron Rodgers pass to the right to Ty Montgomery for 9 yards to the Det34. Tackled by Glover Quin

And here is where things got a lot better:

4:35 Ty Montgomery rush to the right for 9 yards to the Det25. Tackled by Tavon Wilson.
3:50
Ty Montgomery rush to the middle for 4 yards to the Det21. Tackled by Tyrunn Walker.2317
3:03
Packers timeout.

MM should have RTFB at the 5:35 mark instead of becoming pass happy.

Not exactly.  I was thinking the same thing but with Detroit's one timeout, the Packers were going to have to punt if they didn't get a first down.  Yes, MM could have taken the knee and then punted but no coach would do that.  You don't kneel if you can't end the game.

1:30 Kneel

1:28 Detroit TO

1:26 Kneel complete

:47 GB TO with one on play clock

:45 Kneel complete

:06 GB TO with one on play clock

Either punt up 14 with 6 seconds left or run around for 6 seconds then go down

That all assumes GB takes minimum amount of time for kneel down and play clock starts right away after kneel down. You go back an extra yard on each play, I think game ends without even having fourth down play.

It could have easily been done. And yes, you can kneel if you don't end game - GB did exactly that after the first down play.

Exactly.

MM is really bad at clock management.

Why risk more injury, heading into the playoffs, which is exactly what happened to Spriggs.

And why hand the ball off to #40 at such a critical time...who even is #40?

+ Geronimo!

Rip!  (About time we use him as a ball carrier!)

Safeties stepped up and did a good job of covering receivers after Q. Went down.  I thought

Gunter did well, too.  He may not have great speed, but he does a lot with what he has.

Monty.

ARod

Jordy is totally back, baby!

Injury to Spriggs.  And the possibility of Barclay getting on the field= bad mojo.

Is anyone else watching Fumagali and thinking he would sure look good in Green & Gold?   :-)

Dang it.  I knew I should've paid attention in my writing classes!!!    I know he's a Junior and all - but after today's game and this season for the most part - he's proved himself.  He does have some things to work on, but I don't think he'll stick around.  I hope he does.  I'm sure he'll get all the advice he needs from Mel Kiper.

Four coaches have made the playoffs eight consecutive years in NFL history.

Tom Landry, Chuck Knoll, Bill Belichick, and Mike McCarthy.

Has Mike benefited because his QB is Rodgers? Yep. The other three coaches had a similar player. It's also much, much harder to make the playoffs on a regular basis in the FA era. Six teams that made the playoffs last year didn't make it back this year.

Agreed. I was ready for a change earlier this year but MM righted the ship, got everyone on the same page, kept a steady demeanor, and most of all, got AR to settle down and see that he was part of the problem -- and all those other cliches. I figure he's good at 1265 for at least another decade or so. Best part is how he handles adversity; he doesn't toss guys under the bus or lash out in public. Pure professional and perfect for GB.

Bitch about play calling.  Bitch about clock management.  Bitch about groupings.  Bitch about whateverthe****youwant.

We're not likely to see a more successful coach of the Green Bay Packers in our lives.  And I'd bet over half of this board would ****ING LOVE TO SEE HIM GONE.

You'll get your wish someday, Nancy.  Just stay alive long enough.

It doesn't matter who the coach is, people are going to piss and moan about this decision and that. From who plays/doesn't, play calls, in-game adjustments or (gasp!) decisions, they catch hell for it all.
I'm willing to bet every coach from Lambeau to Lombardi, even Bart and Forrest, to Holmgren and McCarthy has been bitched about just as we do today.
And, of course, it goes without saying that WE know ALL the correct answers...

It's what fans do.
