Players must stand.

Who didn't see this coming? They (team owners) have to have a clear stance so their employees know what they can and can't do and what the punishments are if they deviate from those policies.
That's why they unanimously voted the way they did.
They can still stay in the locker room to protest. I support their rights as individuals to protest, but the organization also has the right to set limits for their employees. It had become a distraction to the primary focus of causing traumatic brain injuries.
Probably time to do it. They've made their point.
Will Kaepernick find gainful employment now?

No.
If these guys have already been signed before him, he's never going to get a shot.

Only if he gets to play against Dom Capers' defense every week.

I'd also like them to set better limits on things like beating their girlfriends/wives.
The limits are driven by what they think their customers (us) will tolerate. A significant part of their fan base won't tolerate kneeling.

Unless their team is winning

This is only an issue because of that F******g moron Trump. Oct 12 will be my 60th year of watching the Packers but todays announcement has caused me to think I won't be celebrating it. Giving in to that scumbag just invites more and I hope the players take them to court!!

F**king NFL. It's a little shocking but really shouldn't be. When posed with two options, NFL has consistently taken the dumber choice.
And can someone please explain to me in what scenario "kneeling" is seen as disrespectful? Seriously, I keep hearing about "disrespecting" the flag, anthem , etc. and I do not get it so someone please explain this to me. Just a single scenario where kneeling is seen as offensive and disrespectful. Because I'm drawing a blank. Kneeling in church. Kneeling before a king/queen. Kneeling at a grave. Seriously, I cannot think of a single scenario where you would kneel for the sole purpose of disrespect.

Exactly. And even more hypocrisy is that the NFL used to charge the federal government millions for flyovers, mid-game ceremonies honoring the military, and recruiting commercials. So the NFL really doesn't give a s**t about this country and it's military. It cares only about money. And they were so scared of offending snowflakes like Trump that they bend over for them at the first sight that they may lose precious dollars on the bottom line. What a pathetic group of people running this league.
It's going to be hard but I'm really considering passing on the 2018 season. I stopped buying NFL merchandise awhile back for a variety of reasons (seriously, I own not a single piece of Packers gear anymore) and I find this infuriating. Forcing people to stand for the anthem is as un-American as it gets.
Not to mention Nina Hartley kneeling....
As I age, I mellow.
The kneeling does not offend me in the least.
However.
They're at work...in their bosses workplace. If boss says I can't wear a "Jaymo Sucks" hat......I shouldn't be able to wear a "Jaymo Sucks" hat..
...well. maybe that's a poor analogy.
I sat many times back at Camp Randal in the early 70's, plenty of that going on then. A bit of silent, peaceful protest should not bother anyone.
By the way, that sitting occurred after I was discharged by Uncle Sam.
BK I am a former soldier- if anybody knows about stupid workplace rules I could write a book, however I think many court's would conclude the anthem is not part of the ceremony, and that issued must be bargained !! Oh but wait we just found another braindead right wing moron to stick on the court- they may determine it is ok to shoot protestors like at Kent State
Iâm just here for the gifs. Me and my main man Polybius are rolling with kyklos.
Choosy mothers.
Props to the NFL. Protesting? Come on, these guys are pro athletes and coddled at every step. If you don't want to get killed by cops, maybe don't be black breaking the law.
Anyhoo. Anyone got anything new on any Milwaukee Bucks players today?

Yes by all means-they should have asked God to be born white..quotes like this are why players need the right to protest.. the NFL absolutely sucks and I am trying to break my addiction to it...this stupidity, the CTE cover up, the paid fly overs, the Pat Tilman cover up, the 4 hour games loaded with commercials....all have really helped me cut down

I'm all for beating the schyt out of healthy people who park in handi-cap spots.
I just am.
BK my wife has one of those stickers and she would help you!! Nothing raises that little woman's BP like three teenagers bouncing out of a car in the spot!
I'm of the thought employers can ask employees to behave as they want (within reason). I also don't think the narrative that kneeling for the anthem is disrespecting troops. I just think folks like to get bent out of shape.
Side note, buddy of mine has no legs of his own. He gets around on his prosthetics and a walker pretty well all thing considered, but is shaky. Was at a basketball game this year, in a wheel chair, and got shade from a guy for not standing for the anthem. I think the jaymo's out there are looking two hard for things to get mad about?
Enough with the political Trump BS. I thought we had some kind of X4 rule about that stuff?
Employers have the right to set standards of conduct for their employees. Looks like the NFL did. Now the employees have a choice to make.
And Roger wonders why he is booed everywhere he goes.

....Kneeling in proposal of marriage, kneeling to the level of a child to speak to them....

But the government pays for the event, and often provides the resources (unless you think teams have a stash of F-15s and pilots somewhere, for example) not the team.
Come on...
It's a cultural/societal norm in America whether you agree with it or not. When you were a child, you were asked to stand and place your hand over your heart to say the Pledge of Allegiance. For decades, the standard has been for citizens to stand, remove their hats and honor the flag during the National Anthem.
You don't want to do it, fine. It's America after all... but let's stop pretending its not abnormal behavior that attracts critics.

Don't be a dumfukk Mr. F-15.
NFL players are nothing more than employees working for a company. The company absolutely has the right to dictate employee conduct.
The players will just find another way to protest, probably like Tommie Smith and Juan Carlos at the '68 Olympics. After all, the new rule only states that the players must stand.
What could be more patriotic than a forced patriotic display?
Iâm guessing Hundley chose to protest by never throwing an accurate deep ball
Scratch that, he was accurate, his timing was just off

Actually conduct is contractually negotiated and I am not sure that issue has been fully agreed to just yet! BTW I don't have a problem standing for the anthem I just don't want some right wing jerko** with a 3rd grade education demanding I do it!!
Wrong. Labor practices are negotiated through collective bargaining (Assuming there's a union in place). Employee conduct is absolutely dictated by the employer. It's why you can't go into work wearing a t-shirt with "**** Off" written on the front. Yea, you have the 1st Amendment right to express yourself, but the company's policy dictates that you cannot wear that shirt.
The contract is a negotiated document between the employer and the employee that outlines salary schedules, fringe benefits, working conditions, etc. Company policy, or a company handbook if you will, is a set of rules and regulations that the employer develops to govern behaviors of their employees. That is not a negotiable document. You either abide by it or you face consequences for your actions.
Stop thinking an NFL player is on some sort of special platform. They are nothing more than an employee... just like the kid flipping a burger at Dairy Queen.
