Sure looks like Jacobs has not yet been apprised of the Cardinal rule that all Packer players are expected to abide by; never, ever publicly mention roster deficiencies, no matter how glaring the deficiency might be.

Hate to think what blasphemy Josh might utter next?

I mean, given his declaration that the team obviously needs help at WR and the franchise's refusal to use a 1st round pick on the position, I sure hope for Josh's sake he does not make reference to the fact that one SB participant (Philly) dared to use not 1, not 2, but 3 recent 1st round picks on WRs and the other (KC) took a WR in round 1 of last year's draft.

Someone ought to let Josh know that, in Green Bay, locker room "leaders" must praise the roster as being on the cusp of another Super Bowl win even though his comments about the team needing a WR, D-End and DB are obvious and apparent to any fan with a pulse.

And don't forget, the youngest roster, too.

I don't think what JJ said is looney, I'm not used to it being done in GB. If his words were to prod Gute into getting someone as #1 WR and to kick the current WRs into becoming better, then bravo for him. He's going about it publicly, which is interesting, but maybe he's felt like they don't/didn't listen privately. If it makes the team better, I'm all for it. It looks like JJ stuck a burr under Wicks' saddle, so maybe he works out a little more, concentrates a little harder, and gets more consistent.

It's not facing adversity/truth that counts, it's what you do about it that does.

Holding my breath? nope.

But Ambassador Jacobs who knows Maxx well, I don't doubt has already greased the wheels endorsing GB.

I just don't know if Gute will cough up the draft capital to make this happen.

Ain't gonna be the "want to" that gets this deal over the line, it's gonna be draft picks. Gutey not gonna deal what the Raiders want for him...just not happening.

He's not going anywhere unless the Jests cut him or he's traded. Simple as that.

Schefter says they're going to cut him because his contract makes him untradeable.

That means he will be UFA...so he will go to the highest bidder. He also speculates about $10M per season would be the top of his market since the market will be full of younger, capable guys (Cupp, Deebo, Higgins, Diggs, Godwin, Hollywood Brown, etc.)

So it costs Packers zero draft picks (Gutey goes from 6 to Midnight), and they have the cap space...yes he's 32...but he knows the offense, and wants to be here. Watson is done best case till November...and even so...to me, this falls into the no-brainer category, because it's not going to cost you picks and/or a $25M+ contract (Higgins).

Weighing availability along with production, I'd take DA over everyone on that list but Higgins and even he has missed a lot of games lately.  I'd prefer Kupp IF he stays healthy.

I'm taking all this with a grain of salt.   Nothing on Packers.com about it. The story was from a sight called Fanentrance dated Feb. 13, 2025.

In a move that has delighted both fans and the front office, Jaire Alexander, the star cornerback of the Green Bay Packers, has agreed to restructure his contract, reducing his salary to free up valuable salary cap space. This decision will allow the Packers to bolster their roster with new signings ahead of the 2025-2026 NFL season, a crucial step in strengthening their team for the upcoming campaign.

Alexander’s original salary for the 2025 season was set at $16.15 million, which included a significant cap hit for the Packers. However, in his agreement to restructure, Alexander has voluntarily reduced his salary by half, bringing it down to just $8.075 million. This reduction gives the Packers nearly $8 million in additional cap space, which can now be used to bring in much-needed talent across different positions.

Alexander, one of the league’s top cornerbacks, has been a standout for the Packers since being drafted in 2018. His ability to shut down top wide receivers and his playmaking skills have made him a fan favorite and a leader on the defense. Despite his own success, Alexander has always emphasized his team-first mentality, and this contract restructure is a clear demonstration of that.

β€œI’m excited to continue playing in Green Bay, and I’m glad I could help create the cap space needed for the team to bring in new players,” said Alexander. β€œWe’re building something special here, and I want to be a part of it for years to come.”
