Sounding like SEA wants a kings ransom for him...if so, Gutey isn't their Huckleberry.

Of course they want a Kingly sum. But as the clock ticks closer to a new league year that price will come down or some other idot will pay it.

Per Adam Schefter:

The Packers and kicker Brandon McManus reached agreement today on a three-year, $15.3 million deal, including a $5 million signing bonus. The deal was negotiated by Drew and Jason Rosenhaus.

$5M is the going rate for kickers now?  Jesus Christ.

There’s probably some analytics nerds out there saying the Pack paid too much.  Those analytics nerds probably didn’t have to suffer from watching Anders Carlson and Braedon Narveson have a major factor in blowing some key games like we did.

Glad we’ve got some stability at the position now.

Better to pay him than draft another bust.

$1M was at one point too much to pay Craig Hentrich too. And Darren Rizzi. At some point, someone will be willing to pay.

I'd rather overpay for someone who missed one FG, then the stupid game of fuck-fuck we've been playing with kickers since Crosby left.

Good kickers are underrated and can mean the difference between winning it all and not even making the playoffs.

Look how far KC got with multiple wins by FG

Per Tom P:

The #Packers tendered safety Zayne Anderson as an exclusive rights free agent, per source. Anderson stepped up on defense amidst injuries last season, starting two games and recording his first interception

Nice Special Teams player and a decent back up safety.

The other thing in Adams favor is that you only have to sign him to a two year contract. I'm sure Metcalf is going to want a 4 year deal. Metcalf does fit what we need at the moment better but Adams may be better for us "big picture"

Behind every picture of Tom Brady with rings or trophies, is the face of Adam Vinatieri smiling, as if to say "you're welcome." All Tom had to do was get to the 30. The rest was money.

Gutekunst will offer a 3rd for DK, and that'll be the end of it.

This wasn't happening no matter where the draft is held. In most years Gutey guards draft picks with his life. This year is the deepest draft in a decade because it's the final year of COVID eligibility kids, plus fewer and fewer kids have been coming out early because of NIL. For that reason, I don't see him dealing any 2025 picks...if he deals picks it will be 2026 picks.

Also of note, this class is the oldest it's been in a long time, again because fewer kids coming out early. Green Bay's tendency to take younger players is going to be broken because so many of the best prospects are 22, 23 even 24 years old.

Romeo and a second for DK and a 5th seems about right.

Doubs perceived "concussion problem," is going to limit his trade destinations. Our best hope is it's not an actual problem, and he returns to GB and is a key contributor. Hopefully the Great Gazoo hatty helps.

Tragic mistake.  Should have kept Mulligan and cut Bostick.

April 9, 2013 — TE Matthew Mulligan

In need of a blocking tight end, the Packers signed Mulligan to a one-year, $715,000 deal after Tom Crabtree signed with Tampa Bay. The burly 6-foot-4, 267-pound veteran arrived on the open market after St. Louis released him in a cap-cutting move. Initially slowed by injury, Mulligan didn’t end up making the Packers’ final roster as Green Bay chose to keep Andrew Quarless, Ryan Taylor and Brandon Bostick instead. Mulligan, now 31, played 12 games with Buffalo last season.

Pickett and Woodson.  If you like Super Bowl victories, that is.

Of Julius Peppers, if Bostick does as he's coached (or to be fair, if Peppers doesn't order Morgan Burnett to give himself up around midfield with another 20 yards of open field in front of him).

The Packers were probably looking at Bostick's RAS score which showed he had elite leaping ability to go up and high point passes (or onside kicks that had gone into the air).

Or if AJ Hawk stays put or Haha just simply turns around and bats the ball down or if fat ass McCarthy runs 3 running plays right up the gut then punts and let the Seahawks right back in it

Packers could easily double dip in FA and the draft. Grab a FA CB and Pass Rusher, then take those same positions in the first 3 rounds.

They did precisely that with signing Xavier, then drafting Javon Bullard in the 2nd. Signed Josh Jacob’s , then took Marshan Lloyd in the 3rd

With all of the high priced vets getting an early toe in FA perhaps a few of the players Gute is seriously interested my be more affordable now.  If we aknowledge reality that Bosa or Garrett et al are not coming to Gb I am hoping the scouting staff and the medical folks do their homework on guys like Paulson Adeebo, DJ Reed or Malcom Koonce from the Raiders.  I just don't see a 30 million dollar headache (DK) coming to Gb especiaally as Seattle will want significant assets.  Better Chance Jayden Higgins (Jordy Nelson) arrives early on Friday Night via a trade up or back than a Brinks Truck bringing DK to town

Yes all those plays happened before the Bostick bungle and any of those plays could’ve avoided it

I genuinely feel bad for Bostick when that was a real true total team meltdown and failure.  His mistake stood out but it was just 1 of like 10 mistakes and he wasn’t responsible for 9 of them.

I think more realistic FAs for the Packers are guys like; edges; Dayo Odeyingbo or Mack. WR- Adams, CB- Adeebo. Go after a defensive lineman in the First Round and then stock up on depth for the o-line and CB in the next couple of rounds.

Yep! I'd double up, again, if I were Gute. Draft the best player at CB or WR or Edge/OLB and look for a FA fit at each position.

The worst play was the Burnett interception. I understand not wanting to risk a fumble, but even if Burnett runs diagonally to the sideline to get out of bounds, he picks up 20 more yards before anyone is near him.

Also, all 5 Seahawks skill players were out the play and the only guys he had to deal with were the 5 offensive lineman and Russell Wilson. If Peppers just turns around and blocks the one offensive lineman, Burnett probably scores. Still inexplicable over 9 years later. At least Bostick, for his idiocy in not following what they'd been coached to do, was trying to make a play.

Yeah, this one rankles me the most, even more than idiot Bostick. It was a Pick Six. Burnett would have stiffarmed Russ.

Nine years ago, I was doing some house repairs and accidentally hit my thumb with the hammer.  Didn't break my thumb, but it was pretty useless for about two months.  And it hurt like hell!!

This morning, for no apparent reason, I decided to hit my thumb again with a hammer.

It's become a regular self flagellation ritual here to revisit that game.  People just can't help themselves.  I think we all still have demons from that afternoon that still need letting.

It is still painful. Not as bad as losing to Denver in the SB, but not far behind.

I go back to Mike McCarthy telling his brother before the game that they were going to the SUper Bowl. He had a decent plan, but many made bad decisions at key times, all of which were necessary for the Seahawks to get the win.

When all you've got is a hammer, (and four empty cans of beer), everything looks like a nail.

Losing SB 32 sucked, but losing at Seattle the way they did felt like 2-3 losses.  I was out of sorts for weeks after that game.

Sure, back to back titles would have been nice but the fact they got one took some of the sting out of that second one.

To me the SB32 loss hurt more. GB was heavily favored as opposed to losing on the road to Seattle as an underdog. That said, the series of follies that lead to the Seattle loss was devastating as well.

Always felt bad for MM regarding the Seattle loss. No one gave us a chance of going there and winning. He had the team so well prepared. He didn't tell Burnett to take a knee or Bostick to try and field the kick.

Depends who they replace him with. He was average at best, but he knew the protection schemes and had experience working with Love.

If they replace him with an all-pro, sure it will be an upgrade. But if they replace him with the next Royce Newman type it will be a problem.
