The story out of SF is that Banks was drafted as a "people-mover" for the inside zone scheme. When they went to the outside zone scheme he wasn't as good (which could be predicted by his 10 yard 40 time split) which made him expendable. I know the contract looks too high, but the only guaranteed money is in the first year. This move makes our o-line better. Now if Morgan can fulfill his potential and beat out Walker at LT it could be really good.

Banks isn’t as good as Jenkins at guard, but Jenkins is significantly better at center than the guy playing there last year. Myers was average in that regard. Jenkins has the ability to be an All Pro manning that center spot.
Hobbs has a unique skill set and while he’s not elite at anything he is now probably their best tackling corner on the roster. Our corners were atrocious last year in run support.
And since he can play boundary or slot he’s likely going to see a lot of playing time. If I’m Bullard and Nixon I’m probably not thrilled with this move and chances are if and when they draft a corner high again they will be even less pleased.
Where things could get super interesting is if Jaire somehow returns to GB. He and Hobbs would make a very good 1-2 combo and add in their backups and that’s a really good secondary.
Obviously they still need help at outside pass rusher and wide receiver, but my guess is they draft both or possible at a middle tier WR outside of the draft.
I would think they intend on playing Hobbs outside with Bullard manning the slot. I would really like to see us keep Jaire.

ESPN (and most media) have gone away from employing guys like Ron Jaworski who would break down tape and explain the game to viewers.
If your star employees are guys like Stephen A. Smith who have a strategy of just spouting their (often stupid) opinions loudly, you aren't in the analysis business, you are in the business of getting clicks for saying something outrageous.
I'd like to see what McGinn's contacts in personnel departments would say about these moves. McGinn had his idiosyncracies, but he would actually talk to guys that knew what they were doing for background on guys.

While I don't see that happening, it does look like Haffley will have a lot of flexibility with both Nixon and Hobbs able to play both outside and the slot. Can mix and match vs opponent's personnel, etc.
The cheesehead article is the opposite of his RAS scores. He is average to below in composite speed grade and composite agility grade. Quit trying to make him something he is not cheesehead.

I think it starts like this: Jenkins moves to C, Rhyan RG, Banks LG, Tom RT, and Walker/Morgan fight it out for LT. If I recall, Rhyan did not look great at C against Philly. I'd like to see Monk take the next step, but he may not be more than a depth piece. I recall them saying they think Tom could be a HOF C, but he doesn't want to play there. If he does agree to move to C, then Morgan to RT, Banks to RG, Tom C, Jenkins LG, and Walker LT.
I still feel the No.1 priority this year was/is pass rusher. Half of them never made it to FA and a lot of the other's (Z) was a doo hingus. How available is Hendrickson still? Was/is that all smoke and mirrors or maybe package Jaire and a pick?
Hendrickson has the size they like but he’s 30.
My concern on Hendrickson is he’s 30. It worked out OK with Reggie White and Julius Peppers but Joe Johnson was a disaster.

Tom at RT, Jenkins at center, and Banks at LG I think are set. Morgan is going to play since he was a First Round choice. They drafted him to be a LT, so I think he gets every opportunity to beat Walker out. If he isn't ready for LT he will get time at RG, maybe do some splitting with Rhyan like last season.
IF the Packers are going to release Jaire (absent a trade) it will likely be after Wednesday to be able to count it as a post June 1st cut to spread the Cap hit over 2 years. Outside chance he takes a pay cut to stay.

5 above average guards is about what this looks like.
It results in having a A- guards, an A-level center, and C level tackles.
Tom is an above average RT (pff had him as their 4th rated tackle , both left and right) Morgan has the athletic ability to be an above average LT but just seemed overwhelmed coming into camp last year. Walker is an average tackle.
Thanks for posting, Chongo. Wilde is a smart, witty (love the shampooed/conditioned analogy) guy but let’s be honest he’s not privy to the conversations between the receiver and GM that took place when Adams left Green Bay.
Maybe not specifically between Adams and Gutekunst, but Wilde has very good sources inside 1265 and protects them well.

If Jenkins is your starting center that tells me Morgan is slated for Rhyan”s guard spot and he then becomes 1st backup for interior. If you have a tackle injury you slide Morgan out to tackle and Rhyan in at guard.

I don't see Tom being moved to guard. The three "suspect" pieces are Walker, Ryhan, and Morgan. Walker was projected to be a Third rounder but fell to the 7th. He was the 15th ranked tackle athletically in his class. Morgan was projected as a second rounder but went in the First. he was the number one ranked athletically. While Walker has been an average (which is above expected for a 7th rounder), Morgan is expected to be above average. However, he needs to prove it in camp. If he still isn't ready for LT, he'll probably split time with Ryan again.
I think Walker actually graded out above average at LT. I mean, he’s never going to be a Bak or Clifton out there but he’s been solid in that position.
Given he was taken in R1 I absolutely think that Morgan will be given every chance to win the RG position. Longer term, maybe he’s that LT of the future.
How are the faithful feeling about the WR room as of March 12, 2025?
With apparently no veteran talent coming in (other than possibly a Sammy Watkins level addition) and the team not believing in using round 1 picks on WRs, is running it back with Reed/Wicks/Doubs/Watson (coming off his ACL mid to late in the season) and likely a round 2, 3 or 4 rookie sufficient talent for the G&G to take home another Lombardi?

Their pass rush was decent overall, but they didn’t have anyone opponents had to account for specifically/no one who could consistently make a play at the most opportune time.
McKinney’s production also dropped the more zone they needed their corners to play.

If they move Tom it’s his final year in Green Bay. Tackles generally get paid much better than interior guys and he’ll want that payday.
Interesting enough, Aaron Banks is now the highest paid offensive lineman in the league this year (in cash), followed by Sewell, Wirfs, Darrisaw, and Tre Smith’s new contract. The next-highest cash value on the interior is the Bears new guys Drew Dalman at 15/16 and Jonah Jackson at 18. The rest are all tackles.
Banks’ contract gives them an out after this season, but would be a $20m cap hit.
Walker is up and down. As some here remember during the last two seasons, he has had streaks where he looks elite, and then streaks when everyone wants him benched. Two very small samples was his canceling whoever SF threw at him in the divisional round two years ago and then getting trucked vs better teams late last season.
It seems very little is known about Monk at this point (outside 1265) but I do recall Rhyan being in a very similar position during and after his rookie year. There were a lot of negative rumblings about him. And he now looks like he may be a viable G.

I'll wait until training camp until passing final judgement on the WR room. A lot can happen in the next 3-4 months.
If they go into the season without upgrading the WR position, that is unacceptable. They have to get a speed guy with Watson gone. That should be obvious to everyone.
Let's see how it plays out. If they end up only adding a mid-round draft pick to what they have now, then I'll probably feel the same way you do.
