Darnold is about to be thrown under the bus, in Minnesota. The guy got them 14 wins, albeit with what I consider a soft schedule, and the vikings Twin Cities media are giving him a lot of the blame for the loss against the Rams. The past two games for the vikings were losses to the Lions and to the Rams, and the media/fanbase are using that to discredit Darnold. Not that I care. I don't. How about looking at their OL, whose stellar blocking gave up 9 sacks? How about looking at Flores's Defense which gave up 27 points. The media guys on KARE 11, post game, were going to great lengths to not blame the Defense, too much, for this loss. I think they may be afraid that criticism of the Defense may send Flores packing. And here I am, basking in the glow of their meltdown. Now, if the Packers can get a pass rush, next season...

Yup. "Sam" and "Sammy" bout to get ashcanned. 3 weeks ago it was resign "Sam" and trade McCarthy for a no. 1 pick

Ironic that two of the young "great offensive minds" , O'Connell & Lafleur, offenses fell flat at the end of the season.

Sam Darnold turned back into Sam Darnold. He had open receivers that he flat out missed - sure am glad he played so well vs. the Packers.

After the Vikings ask Sam to backup McCarthy and he walks.....have fun with that, Sam.

Can anyone explain how the Vikings O-Line was allowed to hold Packer DL all game long with no flags, but they forgot how to do that vs. the Lions and Rams?? I'm new here.....

IF the spermheads get rid of Darnold who would honestly want him?  The only teams off the top of my head would be the Raiders and probably the Giants.   But will you get the Darnold with the lucky horseshoe up his ass we saw in this season or do you get the version you saw last night?   IMHO last night is probably the more probably one.

All I know is the more turmoil the better for that team.

SKOL - Still Keep on Losing

The term I saw was β€œAntilytics”. Detroit and LA gambled big, essentially doing what Flores did all year, and added an extra blitzer. Sure, if they don’t get to Darnold they get burned, but they got to Darnold almost every time.

I think it’s worth the risk to blitz early in the game. All the pass rush has to do is hit the QB a few times to get into his head and make him uncomfortable. Once the QB gets happy feet, then he’s more than likely not going to be playing his best for the rest of the game.

I’d rather see a defense play aggressive and give up the occasional big play as opposed to watching a QB complete pass after pass with no concern about pass rushers.

The part that is troubling is the Vikings were ranked in the bottom half of the league in terms of pressures and sacks allowed.  The Rams took full advantage of this. The Packers?  Not so much.

In a way, what these these playoffs are teaching us is without stout line play on both sides of the ball you really can’t be considered a real contender.   For Minnesota, it was their OL.  For Green Bay, the DL just wasn’t good enough.

I think GB will be OK on the offensive line but wouldn’t be surprised if the Packers targeted interior DL or edge rushers in the offseason.

Wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Maxx Crosby in Green and Gold next season.

If the Lions don't at least make it to a Super Bowl this year, he probably ends up in Detroit. He's from Michigan and went to Eastern Michigan for college. He's been linked to the Lions before.

The big thing is that if the Lions don't win this year, they will sell the entire house, farm, and anything they can find to go all out to win next year. They don't really have any of their own free agents to resign next year. They haven't won in 70 years and they know they have a window and they are desparate. They are where the Packers were in the early 1990s times about 100.

The Packers have won so there is no urgency, and will just draft 5 more developmental guys to replace the developmental guys they drafted 3 years ago.

WAS's last 5 wins were on the final play of the game, or something crazy like that.  It's extremely risky to keep ending up in that situation but if nothing else, they've learned how to win in crunch time.

I don't think any team looks past another in the playoffs anymore.  They are riding high on late game winning streak and just won their first playoff game in 20 years.  Their rookie QB is playing out of his mind and their D is solid.  They couldn't have more momentum.

Regardless, DET has had all kinds of excuses to stumble and show cracks in the armor over the last month but they just keep chugging along and through teams.  They've averaged 36pts/game over the last 5 and BUF scoring 45 was the only speed bump before that.  They don't want to see them again.  But without some crazy turn of events that puts Goff playing from behind, I don't see WAS beating them.

Yes! Jimmy Johnson was talking about Darnold taking whatever money the vikings offer him, just to stay in that system. Now, he'll get shown the door because they have McCarthy and Jones coming up.

The Vikings would be wise to find a way to keep him at least one more year. He was pretty good all year and McCarthy is basically still a rookie with a bad knee while Jones is still Jones and needs a lot of re-work.

I hope they pay him a fortune, to stay!

The franchise tag for a year might not be the worst idea, though it would suck up a boatload of cap space. 14 wins to "rookie" QB is a tough sell if it doesn't work quickly, and with six top-15 QBs, McCarthy being the 5th, and the rest looking pretty good so far, the odds would seem worth hedging.

Each guy is different, of course, but McCarthy would seem to have high "Trubisky" potential.

QB gets disproportionate credit or blame. Sam Darnit needed to get rid of the ball sooner, but his O-line did him no favors. Kevin O’Genius had no answers either. Mcvay has his number.

If Darnold just blindly chucks up a bunch of INTs they're screaming even louder.

The Rams had a good plan. They knew the Vikings were coming and fed their TEs on short routes. Higbee was their leading receiver even with missing half the game with an injury. Cooper Kupp didn't even make his first catch until the downfield circus comeback.

The Vikings didn't feature Hockenson until they were already in a hole.
