Is there some magical cutoff at 37 or something? Tony Gonzalez probably could have played till he was 40 if he wanted to. 83 catches as a 37 year old TE.

They didn't want to pay him. Buffalo was a lot like Green Bay last year, they didn't punt much. He would have cost them just over $2 million as an RFA.
Sounds like the new guy they got is more of a location guy than a boomer like Bojorquez.

He was a free agent and signed with the Rams, he said, to learn from Dekker some specific punting techniques. Hekker tutored him, and he got better.
I have read way too many positive stories on the guy in the LA Times. He's a minister.

Hekker is something like Mason Crosby, a fixture in the community, high profile good guy, that sort of thing. Cutting him might have been looked at as cold, especially because the Rams think they're going to the Super Bowl.

Those worried about losing Benkert should know that Dallas cut Gilbert and DiNucci, and Nick Mullens, Josh Rosen and Cam Newton are also available. All have more game experience than Benkert for teams looking for a backup or 3rd QB.
JK Scott is the surprise cut this year, so be it. I suspect another tweek or two from Gute.
