Money.  Those 5th rounders can hold a roster spot for cheap for 3 years but they aren't worth the cost of 2nd contract when you can get similar or slight drop in production for league minimum.

Monetary differences are really insignificant. Think it's more about the draft being an imperfect process, players slipping through the cracks and the draft now only being seven rounds.

Some NFL gossip. Coach at our high school previously worked elsewhere and one of his LBs was in Carolina when Scam was there. He was just a reserve/ST guy, but said that Scam was openly detested by his teammates because there were way too many guys that weren't deemed worthy enough for him to talk to. Thinks that Bellichick was hip to that and didn't want another year of that in his lockerroom, especially with Mac Jones showing so much promise.

Ya think? Any guy who pulls off the "Superman" any time he scores, barely acknowledges his teammates after doing it, wore gold MVP cleats, and a host of other things isn't exactly thinking "team."
