The call on the kickoff was questionable, but it's a special teams error to even bring that 40 yardline starting field position into play. If that's 4th and 3 from midfield they punt.

The defense getting dominated (mainly be having guys like Lancaster get dominated) on a long drive makes it worse.

It gives the Bears a shot of confidence right off the start.

Well, when you pick up someone off waivers who literally says he does not want to play and does not want to be claimed off waivers, you shouldn't really expect a lot of effort on or off the field.

Nice to see the run defense showed up. 🙄

That blown ruling on the opening kickoff is huge. They should have been at the flipping one.

Screw the NFL.

Don't even kick it near the sideline and it's not a problem. If Crosby was told to kick it to the sideline that's a special teams coaching decision problem. It probably stems from not wanting to kick it to the middle and allow a return since they special teams kick return coverage is among the worst in the NFL.

I agree, but regardless, where it was, and with clear evidence that it was touched, giving them the ball at the 40 is a big boost to the Bears.

Go ahead and clarify that.  Is that why he signed because he didn’t want to be claimed off waivers?  He’s been in twice after arriving this week.
