There were some good signs. The interior defense (DTs and Quay) played well, and Gary played decent. Holding them to 22 points with four turnovers was pretty good. They bracketed AJ Brown and frustrated him and held Barkley pretty well. With as many mistakes as they made, being that close shows the coaching/game plan was solid.

That said, they have a talent deficiency on the edges. Their depth is poor and a number of starters are marginal.

Define β€˜that close’.

New president next year with no ties to the organization.  I think he’ll give this staff a season under his watch, and make decisions after next season.  Gute, MLF and his staff are going to be under the microscope.  If this same thing happens next season, Policy’s going to clean house.  I would.  Murphy can fuck off, I’m so glad that putz is retiring.  I believe, whether true or not, that his micromanaging led to some really bad decisions.  I like MLF, and we could certainly have a worse coach, but he sucks at hiring coaches and he’s not an alpha male who players fear or want to run through the wall for, clearly.  His play calling has gotten stale, and defenses aren’t fooled anymore.  Gute can’t draft defense to save his life, and is just mediocre with offense.  So, we’ll see what happens with Policy as president.

I agree with a lot of this.  MLF didn't have Nixons opening kick return fumble and Loves first 2 INTs in the playbook.

There is also a reason PHIs D is ranked #1.

+ The defense kept us in this game.

+ Josh Jacobs played hard from the kickoff to the final gun.

-The Packers played six games against elite opponents in 2024, and lost
all of them.

-This team is undisciplined, repeatedly committing momentum-killing penalties, and at least one player today completely lost his composure, which is totally unacceptable.

-The receiving corp led the NFL in drops.

- Jordan Love’s accuracy, and decision making, are suspect. And more than once today he chose to make low percentage pass plays that needlessly exposed his receivers to injury.

-Matt LaFleur is still horrible at clock management. Horrible at calling challenges. Horrible at utilizing time outs. And too often, his team comes out listless and looks completely unprepared.

-Brian Gutekunst and Matt LaFleur have been together for six years. The Packers are 3-5 in the playoffs over that span, which includes two MVP seasons from Aaron Rodgers.

How many more chances do they get?

Is there any accountability with this franchise in the year 2025?

HUGE Minus Jordan Love

Agreed.  This was almost the opposite of last year for Love.  He ended the 2023 season playing well.

His last month of the 2024 season he hasn’t looked sharp at all and today was no exception.

There were many reasons the Pack lost today, but the top 2 culprits were Nixon and Love.  I just hope Love can actually learn something from this disappointment but we can’t afford for him to play as shaky as he did for much of this year again.  His decision making and accuracy just flat out weren’t Championship caliber at all this year.

But I have been assured they were close

+++ Our Defense played well, most of the game. Josh Jacobs.Lots of personnel changes coming for next season. Looking forward to the Draft, in Green Bay. I'll be a Rams' fan tomorrow night.

---Playing like we did not prepare for this game. Love looked awful. His accuracy was off and I think he felt his accuracy, was pretty good. Lack of plays for the TEs, was baffling! Insane amount of injuries! 1-5 in the North, is inexcusable. Changes need to be made, things need to be repaired and we need to emphasize winning in Lambeau and in the North, again.

+ I've been a X4 member since 2005 and I'm glad we're still going strong.  I appreciate the wonderful insights from many of you.  I choose to chuckle at those who would rather wallow in misery than realize that this a good team that could be a few additions/realistic player improvement away from the promised land.

+  The team that we are lucky enough to root for is a class act organization.  In fact, since the early 90's (late 1900's for the history buffs) this franchise has been so good that we start almost every season with the very real expectation of hoisting the trophy that is named after one of our coaches.

+For the vast majority, the NFL is a distraction from real life.  How lucky are we to support a team that does things the right way.

+My love for this team is directly tied to the way it allows me to stay connected to my Dad and brother, whom I don't get to see as often as I'd like.  Tonight, I watched the game with my 15 y/o son.  After the game, he said, "We got screwed by the refs, my friends are gonna talk shit (most of them are loins fans), but I can't wait to see how good we can be next year."  This is what being a Packer fan is really all about.

+ I usually don't drink during the game.  I prefer to wait to have a victory Old Fashioned.  However, after a really shitty day in the ER, I started drinking Blanton's at half time.  It was a good choice that I'm sure I will second guess tomorrow morning.

+/-  I kinda miss Henry.

I do.  I play a hell of a lead guitar.

Rock and roll, brother. 🎸🀘🏼🀘🏼

I’m an Ibanez guy. This is my latest baby, a Prestige RG652AHM. It has an original Edge floating tremolo and Gotho magnum tuners, with DiMarzio Air Norton and Tone Zone humbuckers. The body is ash with an antique white finish on the front, and unfinished natural blonde on the back. The 24 jumbo fret super wizard neck is walnut with a maple fretboard, and it’s super comfortable for my hands.

The Japanese craftsmanship on this thing is astonishing.

The only downside is that the RG body is heavier than the S Series I’m used to. But this beauty is seriously one of the finest guitars I’ve ever played in the thirty-five years since I first picked up an axe.

Packers had no business winning that game yet it was there if just like all the losses a few plays go our way.

Jacob’s and McKinney will be stars even bigger than they are now.

Kraft Williams Bullard Reed look to be keeers.

there needs to be A LOT of growth in some others namely Love and MLF.

I think Hafley has the defense heading in right direction.

just too up and down all season.   Frustrating.  Good team that hopefully becomes great.

When I first saw the Benny Is Dead thread title I really feared it was about you.  Glad it wasn't!

Four of the games were, indeed, close. But you know the old adage about how close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.

Whenever happens, I love my team, good or bad. When asked how long I’ve been a Packers fan, my answer is always the same: conception.

I hope we address a few areas (cornerback, edge rusher) in the draft in ways that make an immediate positive contribution to the team’s fortunes. No more projects.

I also hope that we remain aggressive where free agency is concerned. We made two big splash acquisitions. One was a Pro Bowler, and in many other years, would have been Second Team All Pro. The other player was First Team NFL All Pro.

I thought this team was a year away before the season started. I still think this team can be great next year. But Jordan Love has to be smarter with the football. The margin for error against the best teams is incredibly small. And it’s those teams we have to beat.
