Process in keeping two or three QBs... It's like any position. Matt and Scott just aren't competing against each other. You have to keep your best players. They are competing against other positions.

Perfect. Just because one might get cut at the 53, doesn't mean they're gone for the season. Good to hear

If your best 53 players are one QB and 52 TEs, you're doing something wrong.

Well obviously. The Davis family is known for their amazing ability to resist illness.

“Corey Is a smart guy, he has played a lot of center in his time,” said Rodgers. “He’s going to be expected to play well. We are going to expect him to be able to keep up. He’s got two incredible guards (T.J. Land and Josh Sitton) on both sides of him tot help him out with the calls and make sure that he’s ready. I know Corey is going to study; he’s very well coached.”

That crazy Rodgers is always stirring the turd.

Shawn Slocum says Cobb is ' No. 1 punt returner, Hyde No. 2. On kickoffs, it's DuJuan Harris then Hyde. Jeff Janis in both pictures.

Cobb as the PR worries me. He's playing a much more crucial role to the offense this year than when he was the original returner a few seasons ago.

it'd be better if he gets injured playing WR?

I don't know, it's football.  Let your football players play and produce.

Cobb's also gotta know they don't want him attempting meat grinder returns.

Punt returns don't scare me.  He'll return maybe 3 punts per game and there is no evidence that punt returns are any more dangerous than a regular offensive play.  I'd rather have the most sure handed guy back there catching punts rather than "protecting" a starter from injury.

Kickoffs are different.  I would not want a starter returning kickoffs.

I have no issue with Cobb returning punts. He is excellent at it

I'm sick of this Bugatti Veyron offense having to start deep in their own territory on every friggin drive. If we get any type of decent field position, the offense goes from scary to lethal.

DuJuan Harris on KR duty is helpful too. It would be great to start at the 30 yard line occasionally instead of the 20 or less. Special Teams are important & playing field position is key, especially against a good defense like Seattle.

It's called fair catches and unreturnable punts (end zone and out of bounds).  3 punt returns a game equates to 48 returns per year, which would have been 4th in the NFL last year.  Packers only returned 41 last year.  #16 team returned 36.  So 48 is actually on the high end.

And the NFL studied kickoffs and concluded they were more dangerous than any play in football and thus changed the rules regarding kickoffs to prevent injury.  Nothing has been done regarding the punt game.  If you have anything to refute that, I'm all ears.

I don't believe it is the kick returner that gets injured on kickoff's. With the way kickoff is now, they rarely get returned. That is why the returner is less likely to get injured. With punts, unless you fair catch it or let it go, you are in the middle of the field waiting for a ball to come down i.e. an open target for any guy that wants to crush your ass.

I just don't see the risk.  Cobb could get crushed going over the middle (and will many times this year) so why are you so worried about 3 plays a game that are no less safe than running a route from the slot?  I just don't think returning punts is any more risky than a normal offensive play.  It's football, you need to have the best players out there.  Getting an extra 8-10 yards per return with a possibility of a game changing TD is worth it.  Cobb is also sure handed, so he's not fumbling.

It's not just the returner who is responsible for yardage on returns....all players on the return team have to do their jobs to open a lane.  The ST coach has to call a good return play and ALL the guys need to fulfill their assignments.  No holding or blocking from the back would help too.

I'm fine with giving both plenty of snaps as long as most of them are during garbage time. My guess is if there was an injury Myles White would probably come up from the practice squad.

Charles Woodson, young and about to enter his prime, returned kicks for GB in 2006-2007.

Jordy Nelson also did it as a promising and productive WR.

And Seattles all-pro safety Earl Thomas will be doing PR's this season.

It's not like no teams have thrown out their star players on return duty. The pussification of Goodell's NFL has also led to some fans having anxiety attacks about too talented of players on ST's. Let's not forget GB was DEAD LAST in the NFL in starting field position. Sometimes you gotta put your best players out there.

Why isn't Hyde being used as a punt returner?   I would think Hyde could be replaced easier than Cobb if injured.  But, I guess they think Cobb is so much better that the reward is greater than the risk.
