Also have to factor in that Carolina made adjustments that apparently blindsided MLF. They didn't allow Love to be comfortable during the second half, and as usual MLF has few answers so he goes into a shell. A couple more hail mary chucks to Romeo and we may start wondering if Love is ignoring the play call like his predecessor. Not the best day for Jordan, but he didn't lose us the ball game. He should be able to trust his head coach to see him through defensive adjustments. But we do what we do.

The kid had a 109 passer rating vs the third best pass defense in the NFL .....what the hell

We watched prime Aaron Rodgers. As good as the position has ever been played. It’s hard to be objective.

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!

Positives - a much needed win. Vikings lose, but this could be a negative for 2024 scheduling.
Love, Jones, Kraft, Doubs, Wicks and BO MELTON.
Clutch kick by Carlson.
Offense was a well oiled machine in the first half anyway.
Maybe the defensive showing will be enough to make FJB's exit happen earlier.
55 degrees here so there will be some Christmas Eve hot tub action going down.

Negatives - watching this god damned defense week after week.
Atlanta won.
Seattle won.
Minnesota's loss eliminates the chance of both the Packers making the playoffs *AND* the Jets playing in Lambeau next year happen.

My comment was as much on MLF as Love, if not moreso. The offense went into a funk in the second half. That's a top down problem. Point being this is the second qb now being hamstrung by a guy who simply cannot coach on the fly or lean on what they do the best. "It wasn't Love's best day" doesn't mean it's all on him.

It doesn’t help having a defense that plays keep away with the ball. The offense gets precious few opportunities.

BTW, Love’s stats? 27TDs, 11 picks and 3587 yards. Any other team with a first year starter enjoying these stats are losing their minds that they are getting such an amazing performance from a 1st year starter at QB.

Shit, 27 touchdowns is more than any Bears QB has ever thrown in a season. We? We just sit around and nitpick his performances. We did that to Rodgers too during his first year as a starter.

These days PakrzRay and I are Love fans first.   Wanted to see progress from him and have.   I heard he made a "Nice play to seat up the Hail Mary".  Great day for a Hail to Mary.

Who knew on a day like today a dude named Joseph could suck so bad.

i don’t really know what to make of this team.  obviously love and the young pass catchers are a huge positive.  i turned the game off after carolina made it 30-22. i knew what was coming.  i have no faith in the defense.  don’t have much faith that mlf will do what is needed to fix it.  very frustrating

merry  christmas all

The one thing I'm convinced of is that they have their qb. I've been in his corner every step of the way.

His head coach has been guilty all year of putting him in dicey positions. He did the same with Rodgers. Your point about number of possessions underscores the problem. They go three and out to start the half. Panthers make def adjustments. The o line that played so well first half starts giving up pressure. MLF now relegates his offense to nothing more than running clock and trading possessions where CAR drives for points and we stall.

Whether it was dumb play calling, or pressure, or just poor decisions on Love's part, there were a handful of throws into tight spots and double coverage that he was lucky weren't picked. There's nothing to nitpick. He took them downfield to get the winning FG. He did a lot of good things today, and his coach put him in positions that he should not have.

Many of us, including myself, had plenty to say the last two/three years when Rodgers could/should have played better, and MLF put AR in bad spots. It's not a mutually exclusive proposition. Love played well enough to win today, but it wasn't some seamless perfect game for him by any stretch.

To be fair, that rating is a mirage. Opponents usually just run on them, win the game comfortably while getting it over as soon as possible.

MLF needs to fucking go as well. Kissing Bury’s ass non stop fuck them both.  They can go be buddy buddy at Western Michigan together.

2025 for MLF unless he somehow hires a proper DC and they win the Super Bowl in 2024

It doesn’t matter who the head coach is, he’s not going to go scorched earth on a coordinator in a post-game press conference unless he wants to assure no other qualified coordinator will ever work for him in the future.

Thinking otherwise is putting the dumb in fandumb.

Nobody is asking him to go "scorched earth" on the DC in his presser. Just get rid of the guy TODAY

Which is why there s no sense in watching or listening.  It is all meaningless clap trap.

Think about this for a moment.

The Panthers had 400 yards and 30 points today.  That’s like 600 yards and 50 points allowed against an average offense.

Oh, there's more. Much more.

Bryce Young finished with a career-high 312 yards, two TDs, a career-best 8.9 yards per attempt, and a 113.0 passer rating, the best number of his first season.

And that's not all:
Joe Barry's defense still has no answers. Miscommunications plague the group. No one seems to give up third-and-longs easier. Penalties persist. Green Bay allowed a Panthers offense that hadn't scored 20-plus points since Week 5 and no touchdowns the past two tilts to march up and down the field. Barry's defense gave up 394 yards, 26 first downs, and 6.4 yards per play on the day.

Given the quality of QBs they were facing the last 3 weeks, this might be the worse 3 game performance of any NFL defense all year.

Bryce Young

That projects out over a full year to 351 for 482, 4,822 yards, 40 TDs, 0 interceptions and a QB rating of 132.1.

The single season passing record for QB rating is 122.1 and was set by Aaron Rodgers in 2011.

These 3 QBs are not prime Aaron Rodgers.

Also, the defenses Rodgers faced in 2011 typically weren't stocked with 8 first round picks all under the age of 28 (Clark just turned 28).

mentioned in the game thread that the ending to this game mirrored the end of the Giants game.
The Packers were LUCKY to win this game. The Panthers had a real chance to win with one more play. Or tie it with a FG.
I don't know what kind of film MLF needs to watch to see that.
Hell, Ray Charles can see that, and he's not only blind, he's also dead!

The worst of it is there are guys playing hurt, and getting hurt during these games. And they are sacrificing themselves for .... what?
Barry's bizarre defense pissing away that kind of effort?
And MLF for allowing that bullshit to continue, week after week, year after year.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IDK how many times I have to say it.....

But FUCK JOE "DOGSHIT" BURY!

Blew a 14 point 4th qtr lead, and 1 second from OT. They fucking HAVE to fire him. 44 yards in 19 seconds.

"We gotta clean that up!"

Ya think?!?!

Cousins lit them up with a 122 QB rating earlier this year.   Russ Wilson was around 100 if I recall.

If they aren’t allowing 200 yards rushing in a game the opposing QB is probably having a huge game.

They got lucky not playing Stafford.

Minuses:

Announcer Robert Smith, kept calling McDuffie    MacKenzie. Just horrible.

Wyatt     stupid player

Carlson    While clutch on FG missed PAT could have cost us the game.

End around to Melton.  Throw that play away MLF

Pluses:

Aaron Freaking Jones

All the WR and TE

Jordan Love remaining cool and not panicking

He's a rookie and he made up for the missed Xtra Point by nailing that FG. I like the guts the kid has. It takes time.... just like Crosbys first year. He's done pretty decent so far....just can't lose focus at any point.

On a side note, I always hated Robert Smith as a player. Always played well against GB. I was rejoicing when he retired. He did nothing in this broadcast that made me feel any different, other than maybe knowing he's on broadcast team #9 so we won't get to see or hear him that often. His reminders every other play that Carolina has nothing to lose should cement his spot at the bottom of the heap of broadcast crews..

True story time: FF league ....I once traded Robert Smith for Carl Pickens in the 90's.... literally the week before he blew out his ACL and Carl Pickens went OFF the rest of the year & I won the championship. Everyone told me I was effing stupid for trading Smith who at that point was killing it. Lo & behold I pivoted to Carl Pickens and won the title.
