Packers-Seahawks Game Thread

I dunno. Defense was so f***ing good for most of the game...and then they blow it when it matters most. Very conservative 2nd half offense and two HUGE special teams gaffes put them in that position, I'll admit, but in the end they crapped the bed like we've grown all too accustomed to in big games.

 

Sorry if some find this post too negative for their sensibilities to bear.

That was bizarre.

I'll further add that I'm not completely down on going more conservative on offense in the 2nd half...the way the defense was playing, going to a more run-oriented, clock eating offense seemed reasonable.

 

I dunno. In a day or two, we'll all probably be more able to objectively dissect what happened today.

Held Seattle to 7 points(on a trick play fake FG) all game then give up 21 in about 8 minutes time at the end of the game

I don't understand what went wrong with the running game. James Starks breaks a big run, Lacy has some decent gains, but at times they could get back to the line. That's beyond being predictable or conservative, someone on the OL or whatever just quit at times.

This **** isn't on the D. It's on execution. It failed. Quarless and Bostick. Both are hanging by a ****ing thread. Neither executed. Both failed simple plays. That's why this season is over. 

 

Gotta get another legit TE. I like some of the things Dick Rodgera has done, but for some reason I just don't see him as a legit #1. A legit threat at TE would put this O over the top IMO.

the loss obscures what might have been one of the best performances by a kicker in playoff history. Crosby was awesome.

He's good at moving the sticks on 3rd down, which is great, but I agree, this offense would be lights out with a more dynamic threat at the position.

Bad play during a game is understandable, but for the 7 something years Capers has been the Packers Defensive Coordinator the defense at best has been ordinary but usually terrible. Capers defense may have caused the Packers not to win 2 more Super Bowl. His defense have suck any other team would of canned him 3 years ago.

I know you're probably on a whiskey bender again...I'll let it slide.

No downfield speed. Need it there. A burner at WR would help too. Until Janis shows it in a real game it's an unfilled need as well.

One of the most frustrating things to watch is Wilson over and over again in the post season throwing up lollipops that always land in SEA hands.  WTF?

Or would they trade for AR instead? A great QB will make any coach look good.

 

Is this it though? How will the team rebound in 2015 from a dreadful loss? Sometimes that kind of loss can take a team a while to get over. When you're there, and should win, and lose, wow.  Beating a good team on the road has become an uphill battle for this squad.

 

So many things in those last 4+ minutes went wrong. Throwing on 3rd and 16 after running the first two downs, and incomplete pass stopping the clock, saving the Seahawks a TO. The slide after the INT. The 2 point conversion that should have been picked. So many things went wrong. 

 

Epic.

The defense didn't play a full 60 minutes, but McCarthy sure didn't help them by going into his prevent offense.  You've got the MVP under center, and you put him in the shotgun and let him hand off to Lacy 5 yards deep. Brilliant! 

Well he's done it with two different QBs. He's had 1 season below .500 in 8 years. He's not the problem.

Well that was a tough loss but great, hard fought game by 2 good teams.  I thought the Pack had a good game plan, unfortunately the other QB got hot at the end.  But at least they showed that they can hang with the defending champs.  Good luck to Seattle in the Super Bowl, they are a really good team with an awesome young QB. Hopefully the Pack can make another run next year. 

 

Thanks to GB for a fun season, getting to the NFCC game is never easy and this team is always competitive.  Hopefully next time the ball will bounce our way!

The worst part of all is that I heard Compers was going to retire if the Pack won it all. 

Now we are stuck with him until his pension kicks in.

He (Rodgers) was in the shotgun because he couldn't back peddle worth a schit. If you couldn't see that you didn't watch the game.  Dumb. 

Two QB's, one named Favre, and the other named Rodgers, sure makes a HC look good you have to admit.

 

Red zone offense has been a problem for a while now. Who is that on?

My understanding is Van Pelt leads that.

He is good but jfc, he had a horrible horrible game in the nfcc and how he completes those lollipops in crunch time is beyond my understanding of the football cosmos.  Sooner or later those heaves are going to start getting picked.

I guess Bill Belichick, Bill Walsh, Chuck Noll, Jimmy Johnson, and Vince Lombardi among others should be thankful they had HOF QBs to prop them up also.

Players have to make plays. Championship Games are that simple. GB didnt. This loss has dick to do with coaches. players were put in position to win this game. They didn't.

This was a good team, 3rd best season of MM's career...12-4 with a playoff win. Any season where you fail to win a SB can't be considered a success, but then again 31 other teams in the league fail to have successful seasons every year. We proved we were better than a dozen other teams in the league. A lot to be happy about.

A lot to be happy about, I agree. The colossal choke job when the Superbowl was in our freakin' hands is not one of them.
