John Madden.

Still one of the best quotes from a great about someone they knew was better. Vince would hate 2015. But he'd still kick everyone's ass.

I wonder what Lombardi would think of tackling in today's NFL?  I bet it wouldn't be a pretty reaction.

Trgovac attributes some of Jones' sluggish start to ankle injuries that struck on the first play of his first exhibition game and another that cost him three games last year.

Is it an excuse?

"Every time he starts to get going he had that ankle... whether it's an excuse or not," replied Trgovac. "Now, is he making the impact plays that you'd expect from a first-rounder? Probably you could say no, but the guy's busted his (expletive)."

That is a key factor everyone forgets. Ankle injuries can be nagging and when you're a big guy or an athlete, they make life very difficult. Really hope Datone can finally put on a show this year. Raji and Guion at nose is going to be beastly.

I don't see much of a drop off by replacing Guion with Raji.  The 3 starters in the base 3-4 will be Daniels, Raji and Boyd given the suspensions of Jones and Guion.  The problem is only Daniels provides a pass rush.  That may not matter, since Capers doesn't use much base anyway, and he has other ways of getting pressure.

They just need to stuff the damn run.  I'm hoping Raji is going to be more effective than Guion in that role, since Guion plays too high.  I think Guion is actually better suited as a DE than a nose.

Skip forward to about the 11:45 mark and Larry McCarren and Josh Boyd cover some film review of him handling two OL and making the tackle vs Detroit. That's what he brings to the table and that's his job. There's plenty more where that came from

When you draft a guy in the 5th round, you're getting the 15th-20th best DL- a 4th, 5th, 6th tier player. If he develops into an NFL-caliber player, its a huge win

If you want special DL, then you need to expend the resources to get into the top half of the 1st round - which has a 50% bust rate. Josh Boyd is a keeper

Boyd is an ass kicker. He really came on last year.

Great.

@jasonjwilde: Per #NFL transaction wire, #Packers rookie CB Quinten Rollins will open camp on the Non-Football Injury list.

@jasonjwilde: Rollins being placed on non-football injury list means whatever is wrong with him happened after end of minicamp/before camp.

@jasonjwilde: Also per #NFL transaction wire, OLB Mike Neal, RB John Crockett, WR Ricky Collins open camp on the active PUP list after flunking physicals.

@jasonjwilde: #NFL transaction wire does not specify injuries. Crockett hurt his ankle at end of OTAs/minicamp. Neal did not practice all offseason.

@jasonjwilde: Good #Packers injury news: WR Jordy Nelson (hip), CB Casey Hayward (foot) and OLB Nick Perry (shoulder) aren't on PUP/NFI lists. Good to go.

@TomSilverstein: All the surgery guys: Jordy Nelson, Abbrederis, Barclay, Mulumba, Boyd as well as CB Casey Hayward did pass their physicals.

@WesHod: That's a pretty good health report for the #Packers. Started with seven players on PUP in 2013 and five in 2014.

Previous 2 posts go together:

Neal's deal is up after this year, but GB doesn't really need the cap space now

Rather have him around in 2015

Maybe Ringo can be an interior rusher in nickle when the Packers move on from Mr Neal. Neal is really good at it, earning praise from coaches, scouts and team mates but he just beats the crap out of his body and doesn't sleep at night per his earlier comments:

I know you don't sleep well. When you're on the road and you can't sleep before a big game, what do you do?  But like you said with the anxiety and stress, I have OCD. A lot of things just go through my mind. You can look in my notebooks - I seriously have all these to-do lists as long as I don't know what.  When we came off the road trip at Houston, we got home to Green Bay at 4 a.m. I went to sleep at 7 a.m. - and I was back up at 8:30 a.m."

Sleep is your friend when it comes to rejuvenation and repair

Who's Bosa?

Who cares?!

14 in 15.

FF.

The Green Bay Packers are the only team who could ever have that chance Chilli. (ok other than KC, but hey, I am using logic.  Hmmmmm imagine a re-match?)

The fact that it is happening makes all this an amazing time for any true Packer Fan who realizes this and understands this opportunity.   I fail to have any adjective, adverb, gif, jpeg, or whatnot to convey how exciting this is... but true to fandom, I am cautious too.

It's gonna be one helluva ride.

Go Pack indeed.
