I kind of felt that way as well. Favre has a lot of pride, and they got under his skin last week. I thought he deserved some heat for the crappy deep balls, but this week he deserves nothing but praise. That was an ace of a performance against a couple of really good corners.quote:Originally posted by JJSD:quote:Originally posted by grbaypack:You should be thanking him .. it probably made Favre focus a bit more on showing everyone how wrong they were.quote:Originally posted by JJSD:
I hope Weasel Bedard finds something to jab Favre with tomorrow for his next invented headline.
That's exactly what I'm doing. I felt as soon as Weasel manufactured that story and pi$$ed Favre off, he'd have a big game.
The problem was after the sloppy tackling that got them close to the endzone they were then in touchdown mode instead of settling for a field goal tie mode. Denver scores a td, we have only have a few seconds left to try to score a td. That would have been a hell of a pill to swallow and have 3 timeouts in our pocket that would have done no good.

I hope they play Jackson next week and split time with him and Grant. Wynn isn't able to last more than a quarter.
Also time to use Robinson on the returns.

Yeah, Bigby stunk it up, but it was bound to happen to him sooner of later. I would expect he'll respond to it in a positive way in the coming weeks. James Jones seems to have got past his pitiful play a few weeks back.quote:Originally posted by jimmypop:quote:Originally posted by packerboi:
As TERRRIBLE as Bigby played, one game does not mean he's to get benched or sucks, etc.
He's been a solid young safety all year.
I am confident MM will get him motivated to have a big game next week.
Atari is much better then what he showed.
Agreed, not all those penalties were on him either... they really called a ticky/tack game.

Denver almost DIDN'T get the field goal. Calling a time-out before would have allowed them a better shot at the TD. The percentages favored letting the clock run considering the Bronco's offense against the Packers defense.

Except for the denver fumble on the 1.
Whoops, forgot that one.

Which means that this team has savvy and pure guts...that's not all that common with the youngest team in the NFL...and very encouraging. They're managing to win while learning how to win.

100% AGREE.....
MM needs to do a better job of play-calling; especially inside the 5 yard line... If we can continue to use the clock with pass/run combo's , limited TO's, we'll be in every ballgame... Favre may be having ONE of his best seasons EVER this year.... I feel take ONE pass play away (INT to Urlacher) he has been exactly what we have needed with this team... The "D" will keep us in the games...
Greg Jennings = number 85
Max McGee = number 85.
Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.
To paraphrase from the movie "Signs"- what if there are no coincidences?
Thanks, Max.

I just want to say that Jennings and Jones are what James and John were supposed to be 27 years ago.
Favre presser on ESPN right now.
They keep on saying on NFL Network that Brett is 6-0 in OT games. Wasn't KC with the Jue play in 2003 an OT game?

Cool. Nice "catch".

glad we have 20 million a year for DL that can't pass rush but hey, at lest they look good on their asses
Please, let's have someone step up and defend this "realism". How f'ing stupid is this. Let's think about the gamut of possible statements that could be made about the pass rush this year and then look at this statement again.

In fact Legend, tell me how legit this statement is. This clown knows nothing about football and his "realism" isn't even worth the spinning up debate. Using "realist" to describe oneself is code for self important.

Yes.
I was back in WI visiting that weekend....Trent Green threw the bomb to beat us after we had blown the lead...I'm sure that was overtime.

Pack wins.
Kworst once again proven wrong with the 'points' he made earlier in the thread.
No where to be found.
Musta went to bed.
Ya, that's it.
I was watching the game with the neighbor.....we both were wondering why there isn't a replacement ref at the game in case one gets hurt.
I wonder if all the penalties were due to the others trying to do the injured ref's job...therefore, calling a lot of ticky-tack stuff where the real ref would know what to call when ???
just a thought....they say you can call a penalty (holding for sure) on almost every play...but a good ref knows when to call it or when it's really holding.

Flags were flying abundantly well before the klutz left the game.
The greatest thing that MM has done is Brett is totally playing within himself without going totally wild. MS it seems never tried. We were a few bad penalties from scoring TDs instead of FGs. Brett playing virtually perfect but not going wild was totally the key.
Brett sure does love to talk!
Listening to his presser.

I think we sweep Detroit anyway.

Not to mention @MN in 1994 (tho Brunell finished that game), @TB in 1995, and, uh, 4th and 26...
Tampa Bay in '95 is another I remember.

Jefferson wasn't on the team 27 years ago, but I get your point. Imagine what a great QB (and make no mistake, Dickey was good...but not great) could have done with those two and Coffman.
Now that the MNF game is over ESPN can get back to their 24/7 coverage of Super Bowl XLI.V
BTW, who can remember the only overtime game in NFL history that was decided more quickly than this one? No Googling...
Hester return kickoff for TD????
The Denver shutdown corners have left the building.

My friend is a teacher in Appleton and Jennings was over last week to help with a reading program. She said he is a VERY nice, personable young man. She said his wife was really nice too.

Bear Lions in like 1980 Bears returned kick for a TD. I remember watching the game. I was like 9-10 years old. Was it Turkey day?

I was thinking of Dave Williams (also of the Bears) returning the OT kickoff all the way on Thanksgiving Day 1980 to beat the Lions.
Did Hester do likewise? His 67 return TDs have started to run together for me.

Nah, I was just guessing since Hester returns everything for TD's.

You got it. The Lions were in first place, Billy Sims was running wild...and this game broke their back. The Vikings came from way back to take the Central title.

Billy Sims was a great back until he shredded his knee. I remember they were on quite a roll up to that point.

Yep, he was special. He destroyed his knee in the jewel of our fair city (aka the Metrodome).
Priceless!
Favre's press conference was great... said he never saw his qb coach, Clements so excited after the catch.

Anyway, I'm surprised that there wasn't more criticism of that because it was not smart. The problem was if Denver scored the td which it looked like they were going to , we would have got the ball back with like 20 seconds left. They could have called a timeout with 50 seconds left and conserved that time. Basically, if Denver scored the td there would have been no hope for a win because there would have been no time left.
There shouldn't be any criticism for not stopping the clock. The last thing the Packers want to do is give a QB like Cutler the chance to slow things down and get instructions from his coach in that situation. It would really give DEN a better chance to score a TD which would have killed the Packers no matter if there was an extra 30 seconds in the game. A DEN TD means the Packer have to get a TD and I like the Packer's chances of stopping a DEN offense lead by an inexperienced QB with no time outs better than throwing against a defense that knows exactly what's coming with less than a minute to play in need of a TD.
