I like Mahomes, too, but his actions on the field belie his words a bit.  He does lobby/complain for PI flags on the field to the refs.

Collinsworth is becoming insufferable.  He didn't bother me too much before but he gets into the hyperbole trap too much.  Like saying the Chiefs CBs are the best tackling corners in the NFL.  The Mahomes and Kelce slobber, etc.

The officiating was not good, but in all my years of watching NFL football...I have never seen a national broadcast return from commercial after the game for the sole purpose of suggesting one team got screwed by the refs.

Even the Fail Mary with the replacement refs saw less biased coverage from the national broadcast crew.

Oh. And that 3rd round pick of Gute named Kraft is looking pretty damn good thus far.

? The big question mark for me (as it was last week vs. the Lions) is this: just WHERE did this Joe Barry defense come from? Did MLF give Joey an ultimatum to shake things up? Was trading Rasul Douglas (which I absolutely hated!) sending a message to the defense to clean it up or get out??? Seriously, what the hell???

I also loved Rasul, but the young CBs Ballentine & Valentine not only look competent, but they are very aggressive (just like Douglas was).

Besides Rasul, has anyone really noticed Jaire's absence for the majority of the season and especially during the recent winning streak?

I am actually not a fan of Love's mechanics. Too much falling backward. He doesn't step into many throws and drive the ball to hit a receiver running in stride.

Both 4 and 12 could make that throw to hit a receiver in stride moving down the sideline between the underneath coverage and the safety coming over from the middle of the field.

Love leaves his dudes trying to come back and catch underthrown pop-ups too often.

There is a fine line when tweaking a guy's mechanics. If you do too much of the wrong thing, it can ruin a guys career. That's what Chris Palmer did to David Carr...tried to change his 3/4 arm delivery into an overhand delivery.

Honestly, the last three weeks Love's mechanics seem to have regressed, but the Packers are 3-0...

Also note the clock did not start on the refs signal on that play either.  So not only did we not get the 10 sec run off, the clock sat at 49 secs until KC snapped the ball.  We got double screwed.

I've been saying it for the last few years.....every team....every game....you have to "win" the game MULTIPLE TIMES to get an actual "tally" in the win column. That's the NFL now. This is not exclusive to the Packers.

Did anyone see the Broncos/Texans game? Complete bullshit "roughing" call on Russell Wilson. Keeping the Broncos in the game until he threw the INT in the endzone. That's just one I noticed yesterday. Keep your eyes open and you'll see. They do everything possible to squeeze "content" out of every second on that clock and they push the boundaries of the rule book in every single game. It keeps you glued to the set so you don't miss any advertising content. 🖕🏼🤬🖕🏼

The last thing the NFL wants is what happened in Philadelphia yesterday. Shout out to Fox for fighting to keep that boring game on Fox instead of flexing the more exciting game KC/GB from SNF. 😆

I so agree. I think Kelce and Swift, along with Mahomes and his wife, get way too much shit for just being couples. Taylor Swift doesn't ASK for the camera to be on her all the time, that's on the networks. What has she done wrong? She goes to her boyfriend's game. Shouldn't she be allowed to do that?

Mahomes' wife goes to her husband's games. Shouldn't she? Simone goes to her husband's games. Of course she does.

I think Swift and Kelce take bullshit just because people need someone to hate. Kelce is funny AF, and Swift gives TONS of money to food banks and dozens of other charities. If you need someone to dislike, go find Jennings' sister. Kelce and Mahomes were classy as hell and deserve respect because they seem to be nice guys and are future HOFamers.

They're not Ray Lewis...

Chefs fans are all abuzz about the lack of the MVS PI. While I agree it was PI, I also say their offensive tackle on the same play with his arms around a Packer and holding worse than the PI. At worse it should have been off setting. They let them play it through.  Screw their fans....

The Packers won that game last night..... without.....

  1. Aaron Rodgers
  2. David Bahktiari
  3. Jaire Alexander
  4. Aaron Jones
  5. Rasul Douglass
  6. Luke Musgrave
  7. Randall Cobb
  8. Alan Lazard
  9. Josiah DeGuara 😆

Let that sink in....

Chefs have benefitted from a lot of questionable to just flat out bad calls the last several years...one of them that basically gifted them the Super Bowl last year. Their fans bitching about it is hilarious.

I love this....

Found on the internet:

I think the contact preceded that, but it’s not actually as clear cut. A defender simply can’t take out a receiver to get to the ball, but a DB is entitled to pursue the ball short of that.

In this case, Valentine is clearly watching and tracking the ball in advance. He is looking at the ball, that is critical. Both players are adjusting motion to meet the trajectory. At no point does Valentine grab and pull MVS back, the contact is arguably because both are heading for the same spot.

A DB does not have to give up the catch, he’s entitled to go to the ball, as long as he doesn’t just take the receiver out. Valentine does not do that, but trying to reach around him for the ball. That is not necessarily PI even without a prior touch of the ball by the receiver (which means DPI is B moot):

“A defender cannot come over a receiver’s back to try to play a pass. Be careful not to penalize a defender who actually gets around the side of the receiver to bat down or perhaps even intercept a pass. From the wrong vantage point, it can look like early contact from behind and the official can improperly penalize a good defensive play.” Referee.com.

If that’s how they read it, it’s consistent with what I saw live and, if that’s correct, a proper non call.

I don't care if Love throws the ball underhand like Kent Tekulve while falling backward  if the Packers win I don't care.

Positives:

The Packers opening drive to me was a thing of beauty.  Damn it was good seeing the Packers take it to a defense and impose their will for a long drive.

MLF to me right now has found a controlled aggression with this team.  He is making some really good calls and is coming up with very well done game plans.

I really like what this young team is doing.  So exciting to see them growing as a team

The Packers just beat the defending Super Bowl champs and not many of us (especially me) never would have bet on them winning this game.

End of the game.....they let the guys play and Mahomes himself said....."I'm all about that."

The players know....the Packers won that game. It's not like one play decided it. Packers scored more points vs..Chiefs defense than any other team this season.

Even IF they give them the DPI....the chiefs still need to score....they still need to get the 2 point conversion....and even if they do ALL that....the game is still tied.

🖕🏼😄🖕🏼

We've seen the offense push off on a hail marry and not get called..  Cobb.   It's just a scrum and there isn't a good way to correct it.  You don't want PI calls on that play unless it is absolutely atrocious.

Maybe trade Alexander in the off season  for a really good Left tackle or center?

Alexander is almost a wash in terms of dead cap if they trade him or keep him next year. They could trade him and only have 3 million in dead cap charges, but he's damaged goods at this point. They aren't going to get much for him. He's missed 20 of the last 41 games with injuries to both his right and left shoulders.

I am loving the many WR motion plays MLF is bringing back, some as fake, some as runs. I think they gave the LBs a lot of hesitation.... And I got to wonder if that is helping Love read the D better.

Simone is an actual fucking athlete and was out watching the game in the cold not sitting up in her private box by herself.

+ They're finally figuring this thing out on offense. They went after backups all game long.

+ Pass rush FTW! Packers DBs vs. KC Receivers wasn't exactly a prime time matchup, but the pass rush negated a good deal of it anyway. They went right at Wanya Morris when he came in. Morris settled in some, but he took some major lumps early, which helped the game flow for Green Bay.

+ Unlike the Chargers game, this and the Lions game were fun to watch rather than an attrition slopfest. Progression is good.

- Rhyan showed why Runyan starts. Yeah, Jones is great, but sheesh.

- There were some terrible calls, but not nearly as many as some of you keep droning on about.

- I'm still not liking MLF getting extremely conservative before the half. Yeah, avoiding giving KC a chance at a back-to-back makes strategic sense, but they blew the chance for FG on one of Love's worst plays of the night. The punt and coverage were pure money, though.

Of course it is possible. The Packers have 6 wins with 5 games remaining. Win out and it gets them to 11 wins.

Cowboys beat the Eagles and then lose all the rest gets them 10 wins.   Eagles lose out, they have 10 wins.  Lions beat the Cowboys but lose the rest gets them 10 wins.  9ers have 9 wins, there is no guarantee they get to 11 wins either.  Falcons lose 1 more and the Packers are ahead of them as long as Packer win out.  And Packers beat the Vikings they jump ahead of them.

Will all this happen, less than .01% chance, but the Packers could mathematically still get the #1 seed.

PI on a Hail Mary has to be beyond egregious.  The issue I have with PI on a Hail Mary is because even without PI, the odds of completing a Hail Mary has to be like 5%.  You can't take a play that has a 5% chance of succeeding and turn it into a play with like 60% of succeeding with a play at the 1 based on a penalty that we know refs are horrendous at calling.  Of course I don't know what egregious is but I just hate the idea of a play at the 1 based on a 50 yard judgmental penalty.  Also part of the reason I wish the NFL had college PI rules.
