What a messed up game. The lions score 21 of their 24 on a pick 6 and two 4th down TDs against arguably the two worst defenders in Nixon and Walker. Kudos to winning the one on one but this game really was more about what the Packers didn’t do. Hell 6 drops 2 on would be TDs and the other 4 on 3rd down. And penalties my god.
They need a bye got to do have a reset.
Drops and penalties. It appeared GB was the dome team that had never seen rain before.

Packers didn't handle the elements at all.
Jordan Love comes up small. That's the story.
Malik Willis would have given them a better chance to win today, even with how limited he is in the passing game.

The penalties in the first half were really problematic.
On the opening KO, Nixon returns it to the 39 and inexplicably gets a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty. WTF??? So the ball comes back to the 25. Sure, they move the ball downfield to start the game and get three, but you just can’t have that happen.
On Detroit’s first possession, they have a 4th and 7 at the seven. And TJ jumps offsides. Seriously??? Fourth and 7 becomes 4th and 2, much more difficult to defend. Do the Lions still score a TD on the longer yardage. Who knows. But those were two really awful penalties.

Especially when you consider the 3 teams they lost to are a combined 18-5.
It isn't that they lost, but the fact they lost all 3 games at least in part because Love had bad turnovers.
They have two games against the Bears, one against the Saints in Lambeau, they host the depleted Niners in Lambeau, and host the Dolphins. They should win at least three of those 5, if not more, as they will be favored in all those. The other games are at Detroit, at Seattle, and at Minnesota. The only game that they will be more than a 3 point underdog is in Detroit.
They will likely end up something like 11-6.
The biggest negatives are things we see frequently.
- Quay Walker should not be a starter. Having watched Wilson for 2 weeks and then a fall back to that should make it obvious to the coaches. Sit his ass.
- Penalties. This is the sign of an undisciplined team. We are what we do. We’re half way through the season and we have the 6th most flags against. That’s not acceptable, Frenchie.
- Drops. I don’t want to hear shit about the rain, Det didn’t have a single drop that I recall. As of last week, we had the 3rd most drops of any team with 18. Pretty sure we will be moving up to the 1 spot after that shit show.
- Jordan Cutler. This is year 5 in the league. That shit is completely unacceptable. If it’s the 4th quarter and you’re chasing two scores, fine. But he has zero situational awareness. You cannot do that shit in the first half. You cannot do that shit when a FG ties the playoff game. Sorry, I don’t see it getting better. DCs know what he does under pressure and they will expose him.
- CB depth. We don’t have much talent at CB outside of 23.
- Big money pass rushers are not impacting the game.

GB consistently shoots themselves in the foot with penalties. Dumb football.
Love has been inconsistent and sometimes terrible most of the year. He throws behind receivers or at their feet too often if he's not throwing it to the other team. His decision-making is horrible at times. In fact, I'm not sure it has improved one bit from his senior year at Utah State.
Dropped passes.
Pass rush.
Highly paid players playing sub-standard football (Love, Smiff, Gary, etc).
Alexander should be arrested for theft. He's a part-time player.
Can somebody teach Jenkins how to snap a fucking football?
Coaching: This team was completely unprepared for a huge game, again.

Brady did make one good point during the broadcast. It was after the dam near disaster on 2nd and 1 from the 12 maybe 15 late in game. Just had to know that a true throw away can be a fine play. The pick 6 of course also reiterates that point.

+ 6-3 at the bye is not a bad place to be. And it's timely - need to rest up and get playmakers in the secondary back (Alexander and Williams).
- LaFleur. I think he is an excellent coach but he was not good today. The aggressiveness at the end of the first half. The playcall on 4th and 1. The passing game in the first half - the receivers seemed to be well covered by the Lions secondary. Some self-scouting will be needed.
- Wicks. I thought he would be the breakout WR this year but his drops have been brutal. He has the highest drop percentage of all GB receivers, I think. I hope he can put it together because he runs routes so well and gets open.
- Quay Walker. He is just not quick enough on read and react, and is a huge liability in both the run and passing game.
+ Lions punter. He drastically flipped field position and Reed didn't dare to try a return. Huge "hidden yards" disadvantage.
+ Defense only gave up 17. Lions have been averaging 40 points per game the past four weeks. That's winnable ball.
- Love cannot for the life of him live to play another down. This was his achilles heel in college and it continues to be in the NFL. At some point he has to stop trying to make a play happen or the turnover won't be his throws, it'll be him.
FWIW, no pick six and a made field goal and this game would have been 17-17.

Great that he continues to acknowledge this. At what point does he actually stop talking about it, and start doing it?

2024 10 in 240 passes, or 4.6%
Were he to have the same number of passes that he did last year, he’d end up with 26.5 picks.
I understand that he’s playing hurt right now, and I appreciate his toughness. He wants to be out there. But he has to know his limitations, and if he can’t get into a proper position he needs to make a good throw, like today’s disastrous pick six, he needs to throw it away.
He needs to trust that the guys around him on both sides of the ball will do their jobs. Better to lose a down and punt the ball away than to give the other team an easy score.

The margin of error between winning and losing can be so incredibly small. Good teams don’t make mistakes, and force other teams into making them. Today’s game really did ultimately come down to just a couple of plays. And curiously, the team that plays in a dome looked far more comfortable outside, even in a monsoon, than we did. They looked more comfortable, and in the half of football I saw, they appeared more physical.
For all the rancor now about Rodgers-and a goodly portion of it is deserved based on his own behavior-he protected the ball. And it’s not because of some “he was afraid to take chances” or “he cared more about his stats than winning” bullshit. Rodgers simultaneously has the lowest interception rate in NFL history, and the highest adjusted yards per pass attempt in history.
Hw pushed the ball downfield, but wasn’t reckless in doing so.
A couple of passes Love has made, throws that we’ve “ooo’d” and “ahh’d” over, that ended up big gains, were still ill advised. One a few weeks ago (to Wicks?) went for a deep touchdown pass, or it put them inside the five.
The throw went into triple coverage.
The result was a positive. But it’s the kind of pass I hope Love is more reticent to make going forward.

Another example of this was the Kraft TD. Went right through a DBs hands. Both of those should have been picked.
Earlier in the year he did his famous falling backwards heave to Doubs on the right sideline. Somehow defender got turned around and lost both Doubs and the ball. If that was a good CB, it was a 50/50 ball.
He has gotten lucky more than he has gotten unlucky. His stats could be atrocious right now.
+ Jaden Reed seemed to be the only one of the top 4 WRs that didn’t make a key mistake today.
- I think the Pack made a huge mistake in not resting Jordan Love this week. It was obvious he isn’t close to 100% and he could have had 3 weeks of rest. Maybe his injuries just aren’t going to fully heal until the offseason but 3 weeks of rest would have done him way more good than trying to hobble around on a very messy weather day.
- Only the 2nd game to be on broadcast tv this season out here. Ouch.
- Almost wish this one hadn’t been televised.

It was even worse than that. It was 2nd and 1. Just throw the ball at the back's feet. It's not like it was third down and he was trying to keep the drive alive (which would have still been bad).

If they go 5-3 in the last 8, that puts them at 11-6. That's a fairly low bar with the talent on this team.
