And why couldn't they do the same against a far worse QB in DeVito?

cuz that was a made for NY screenplay.  DeVito's dad and his gansta wannabe agent?  it was all scripted for entertainment porpoises, huzzah

now where did I put my tinfoil?  but since it isn't tin, does aluminum work the same?

Goalline says it has to be aluminium.

Curious why Gary's takedown of Fields at end of 1st qtr was a tackle for loss vs a sack? P Smith also in on hit but he has no sack either. Bears went from 2nd and 2 to 3rd and 6, 4 yd loss.  Anyone notice that or have an answer?

Was it a designed run play? I don't remember what part of the game it was but there was a play where Fields went to his right and got tackled. It clearly looked like a designed run.

PackerHawk I think you are right. Fields faked hand-off, turned to R and Gary blasted him. I didn't realize there was distinction between planned QB run and scramble/run sack.

Yeah, I was watching some highlight show last night and they had that replay. Gary shut it down so fast it's hard to say for sure but he looked like it was all out run.
