My take on the offense:

-Lacy hasn't looked right since he came back from injury.  Does he need more time off?

-Bakhtiari has regressed big time, whether it's injury or ability.  He's barely passable in pass protection and is terrible in the run game.

-The interior of the o-line has been stout in pass protection but hasn't gotten the same push in the run game as last year.  Yes it was the Ram's but the Packer's interior OL is supposed to be a strength of this team.

-Adams injury compounding the injury to Nelson.

They need Lacy, Adams and Bakhtiari to get healthy, and they need Sitton, Linsley and Lang to play like a top interior OL unit in the run game.  They do that, they'll be fine.

Fouts is ok with 'color' analysis...until the alcohol has taken effect. He was toasted by the 4th quarter.

I thought it interesting that Walker played in place of Lang, and even Barclay played for a series at G. I thought Tretter was going to be that guy.

MC made an excellent point about ARod being off-target. I've noticed this year particularly; he has overthrown some open receivers (just by a hair, but missed nonetheless), and his 'touch' seems to be off at times on screens or flares out to RBs, as examples. It's hard to argue with his results, of course, but it is indeed uncharacteristic.

I'm also curious why they don't try some WR screens or similar with Janis or Abby. Maybe even a reverse? I would think the idea would be to get them in open space and let them use their speed, and those should be a routes so easy to run even a caveman could do it.

Timmy,I think the WR screen is dictated by the defense, its a combo call.  If the box is loaded, they run the WR screen.  If they have numbers in the box, they hand off.

Today Lacy / Starks and the OL didn't make them pay for playing light in the box.  Kudos to their front, but we need to run the ball to be the dominant O we are accustom to seeing.

Eddie left a lot of yards on the field. Wasn't seeing cutback lanes very well at all.

We are also seeing the effects of Quarless' absence. Rich Rodgers is totally hit and miss as a blocker. Q might not drive the opponent off the LOS very far but at least he usually gets his hat on someone.

So something that has always annoyed but never thought it was detrimental to the offense......anyone else noticed how often Rodgers lets the play clock run own to 1-2 seconds?  Do you think this gives the defense an advantage, being able to time the snap and get a better jump?

I've noticed that as well CU. Not sure why but he does it a lot. I would think there has to be some perceived advantage/strategy by the offensive brain trust and ARod or why would they do it so consistently. Maybe Rodgers just wants more time to read the D and try to make them tip their hand as to what coverage they are using on that play? I don't know the answer but that's a good question.

My 2 cents, CUPF....

Although a DL may be aware of the play clock, the concentration required to watch for the snap relegates it to the back of their mind. They can't watch the clock and ball at the same time, and the risk to glance at it as it counts down is too great, IMHO.

If a LB is blitzing, he can try to time it, but if he misses it, it's a free play for ARod.

Good point Timmy. I highly doubt if the D-Linemen can even see the play clock while in their stances in a lot of cases. And as you said, the D-Line is focused on what's in front of them or looking at the ball.

You are joking, correct?!?

not joking. I prefer announcers who at least spend a little time preparing for the broadcast. You know like getting the players name correct when talking about them . Or mentioning the last time Nick Foles beat the Packers, Rodgers was "resting" for a game. Seriously, I though even a novice announcer would know Rodgers had a broken shoulder the last time he played in Green Bay

But if that kind of announcing makes your day, then you should have loved it.

Wow, I have only been able to watch TV today and keep up for games for the last 15 minutes or so.  NFC East appears to be a cesspool. The obligatory, Aaron Kaepernick is not clutch.  I sort of think Odell Beckham Jr. is a headcase beyond the prima donna syndrome. Was he just holding back from rabbit punching Michelle Tafoya?

This, is significant. NFC-W still plays defense as well as ever.

We still haven't played the best the NFC West has to offer.

Can we fix injuries? If we lose Lang for any extended period, our offense will look a lot like the 49'ers.

Little miffed at Lacy. I believe he left yards on the field today. That will be important in the coming weeks.

Defense. YES! Please keep playing lights out

Glad the Non-INT streak is over. Was getting sick of hearing the media talk about it.

That would be 'collarbone' my giddy New York Met fan.

Plus, plus a thousand times plus...and we still won.

I'm glad the streak is over too. The guy needed a new chip... starting a new streak.

In his post game presser Rodgers was happy they won, but seems pissed the Offense is playing below their standards.

SDG and the bye should be just what the Dr ordered for the ailing offense. A less than 100% Cobb & Lacy, plus Jones, Monty, Starks and DikRod should once again be enough offense with Rodgers running things to get to 6-0 if the Defense keeps attacking. Getting a healthy Adams back will do a lot for the offense and WRs getting open. Cobb, Jones, and Adams is a lot better than Cobb, Jones, and Monty for finding the open areas. Monty just isn't there yet. Is TD yesterday came on a great (legal) pick play.

When asked about the deep threat missing with Jordy, Rodgers commented that they have that threat, he's (Adams) just been hurt.

From Mike Cohen's JSO story:

...The Packers cobbled together just three drives of 40 yards or more in a 24-10 win over the Rams as receivers lumbered against a physical secondary. Rodgers, who threw two interceptions and lost a fumble, compiled his lowest quarterback rating (82.8) since a loss to the Buffalo Bills in 2014 and spent more than a few words criticizing the wideouts during his post-game news conference.

"We've got to run routes a little bit better," Rodgers said. "We've got to be able to get open outside better. Obviously, I've got to throw it better than I did today and clean some of those things up."

Chilli's right about Rodgers' mindset these days.

 Examples?

For one, throwing the red flag on the obvious Ram 1st down.

remember, a red flag is the same as taking a TO if you don't win the challenge.  that's how I thought MM was using that challenge - just wanted to slow things down for a bit.  no biggie to me.

There were few holes out there for Lacy.   I do think the ankle is a problem with his cutbacks. When he can hit the hole full steam hes been rolling. Rams defense minimized the run lanes, especially after Lang went out. Starks wasn't faring much better.  The Rams did a good job plus the entire offense was out of sync.  I think the bigger concern was how out of sync this offense was.  It was that bad. It's like the sorority girls had a fight and there was a bunch hurt feelings.  It really seemed apathetic to me.

Think its it's time for Reboot.

I think the offense just needs to adjust to what they have.  Obviously they'd like to have a deep threat like Jordy but they don't and Janis isn't ready to step up yet.  But most teams don't have a Jordy Nelson to take the top off the defense so you know what?  They adapt.  Teams run legal "pick" plays, WR/RB screens, bunch formations, etc. to deal with the lack of a deep threat and I think it's time the Packers think about doing the same.

Also, makes sense now why Aaron is so pissed about Janis not being ready to play.  He knows Janis is the only guy on the roster that can take the top off the defense which would really help this offense.

The 1st drive and last drive the offense had a nice tempo and they drove the ball down the field and scored. That's a positive to me.

The negative/converse to that was the apathetic play between those drives. Rodgers had the tipped INT on their 2nd drive and from there on (until the final FG drive) they looked fairly flat.

A bit of shock to the offense that Rodgers is human?

Yeah, that whole being human thing has to stop.

it's a plus and a minus that within a couple of plays this offense can put the game away.  A more balanced team in the playoffs will take a game like this to the mat. Again, the defense was inspiring.
