Yes, that's what I mean. We overpaid Jones and Hawk. Paid for it on the field. I'd rather draft or FA an ILB that has fewer coverage issues. JMHO.

Because those guys are a dime a dozen & easy to find.

+ they’re 7-1. 7 and freaking 1. I don’t care how Trophies-like homer you are, NO ONE could have envisioned this kind of dominance after 8 games.

+Speaking of things you couldn’t foresee, that Aaron Jones is this complete of a back is also an incredible surprise. He’s every bit as productive As The once  Steelers version of Leveon Bell. Without the ego or (for now), the huge contract. Simply amazing.

+The defense gave up 88 yards rushing. At Arrowhead stadium, with that noise level and what was a Pack defense bleeding rushing yards, a very stout performance by the Packers run D.

+++ Triple A offense, Aaron, Aaron and Allen.

++ Halftime adjustments, both sides of the ball

--  Martinez club. He has a pick if both hands normal.

-- 91 Smith is kind of slow but maybe injury related.

Except for 3-4 plays, the Packers are 8 - 0.

+ win

+12, 33, 30, 13, mlf,

- st - hold my breath every kickoff or punt...

- missed tackles - pretty ugly; angles are bad, but they didn't want to risk getting burned by 10, etc...so i get it

random thoughts:

still not sure about this team, they are maybe just in the top 5, which is crazy to start with...watching what sf did to car yesterday...wow. but i would rather peak out in dec than in Oct...waiting for ne to play someone of significance.  winning is everything, but i still remember the blowouts in the playoffs, i hope that is not what is going to happen...

Too many pluses to list. Great win!

A few negatives:

- Frank and WWJ

- 3rd and less than 1 we run an empty backfield. It worked obviously, but that’s a dangerous play call. AR’s greatness bailed out the play call. RTFB!!

+I was most impressed with the game plan and play calling from MLF.  And AR actually taking the shorter passes that were there almost all game.  There was an efficiency that I don't recall seeing since 2014.  All this without any real threat at WR - I don't know where MVS was all night.  Maybe double covered?

+Lazard looked comfortable and reliable in his catches and always looked for tough extra yards.  He's looking more like the #3 when 17 comes back.

-Looked like KC was sending all kinds of rushers on passing downs and the OL was struggling in the first half.

-KC breaking too many tackles.

The thing with Rodgers and short passes, McVince never utilized the backfield like that.  When short pass options end up limited to a guy running a slant or RBs simply as dump offs or blocking it's not too hard to see why Rodgers, right or wrong, was always looking downfield.  Would McVince even have looked for that weakness last night?  Would Jones have been just a dump off option instead of him busting down the field with LB in coverage?  I'm going to say no.  It's crazy but basically they have half of the offense back again.

Rodgers and Jones is a pretty good two man wrecking crew

Halftime adjustments - that’s a change from what we are used to seeing

Team looks like they are having fun and at 7-1 why not

Negs:

Seems like they still need another playmaker at WR or TE

Special teams have not improved

Defensive scheme was questionable - I get you want to honor KC speed but Moore looked way too comfortable

+++ ARod!!! Winning with his arm and his legs. NE can keep Brady. I love ARod. What a great pass to Jamaal Williams in the right corner of the end zone! ARod was running right, going down with both feet off the ground throwing across his body all while throwing a dart into a 2 foot window so Jamaal could catch it and get both feet in the end zone. That will be a highlight reel darling for a long time!  Aaron Jones!!! What a player! Who'da thunk, besides my fellow X4 posters, that a RB could be used to catch passes? MLF!! Solid play calling in the second half allowed our offense to stay on track and finish with a victory! Chandon Sullivan did a nice job on kicks and also made a great knockdown of a pass to Kelce. Well played, young man! Jamaal Williams! The other half of our RB dynamic duo. Made the best catch of his career and will be forever enshrined in Packer lore with Aaron Rodgers! That catch took all of the wind out of Arrowhead Stadium. Allen Lazard went 5-5 and looked like he wants to be here. He is gunning for the #3 WR spot and I think he sewed that up last night. Our O Line. Overcame the second quarter and played well enough to protect ARod and block for Jones and Williams. The backups who came in did well also: Light for Bakh and then Lancaster, who caused the only and biggest fumble of the game! A big win in a venue we have trouble winning in!  7-1!!! GO PACK, GO!!!

--- I'm not listing any negatives.

On board with all of this, especially special teams.  I freaking hold my breath every time Crosby doesn't kick it out of the endzone for a touchback.  Our kick off coverage is awful!  Meninga makes Shawn Slocum look like Nolan Cromwell.

I was at the game and didn’t have a great view of the last TD pass....I thought he was throwing the ball away while getting knocked down. Then the crowd erupted in frustration and I figured the zebras had thrown a flag for roughing the passer.

Highlight of the night for me when they announced the touchdown.

+  I much prefer a Packer blowout than a close win, but last night was a great experience.  Drunk people everywhere which can be problematic, but overall the Chiefs fans were cool.

+ We stayed at a hotel right across the street from Arrowhead.  Not only was the hotel full of Packers fans, but we didn’t have to deal with that sh!t show of a parking lot after the game.

- Why can’t the best QB in the league figure out a way to eliminate the “delay of game” problem that has been an issue for several seasons now?

This team starts and finishes as well as any team in the league. Reid threw the playbook at the defense and had success in the middle of the game, but they tightened up at the end and finished the game strong. Just like several other games this year, I don't care how many yards they give up as long as they keep teams out of the endzone and win when the game is on the line. If you're doing those things then yards, QB rating, ypc, etc. are just fluff. We have areas to improve for sure in all areas and certainly we didn't catch KC at full strength, but they got it done like they have all year.

That does seem to be the pattern emerging from the D in the first half of the season.  It still makes me nervous seeing them get gashed as often as they do but at the end of the day, they hold up when they absolutely have to.  Only problem is that will be a riskier proposition vs teams like NO or maybe even SF.

Why does everyone keep saying Lazard will be a #3 when Adams returns?  I like MVS too, but Lazard should be #2 and starting.

Because MVS is a more accomplished and talented WR than Lazard at this point.  Lazard is seeing more targets because MVS is drawing all the coverage.

MVS can take the top off a defense -- I guarantee he's #2 & as great a story as Lazard is, he is not MARQUEZ VALDEZ SCANTLING!! Besides, the Good morning football crew on NFL Network loves saying his name Below are his stats this year. Look at that per catch average. He's explosive..something Lazard will never be.

Yeah it's going to be tough against SF because 1) their D is going to give Rodgers problems and 2) Shannahan is as creative as Reid and is going to test the discipline of our young defenders. Because Moore was getting the ball out so fast I really expected Pettine to start blitzing more heavily to throw Moore off rhythm. Watkins and Kelce are too strong and Hill is too quick to throw off timing at the receiver level, but Moore could have been rattled had they gotten in his face I think. Problem I see is that outside of our OLBs, we only really have 1 effective blitzer in the front 7 and that is Martinez. I guess maybe I would have liked to see Fackrell and maybe even Summers get some PT at ILB to throw some things at them. Hard to justify taking a DB off the field though, tough situation for a DC. It's a credit to Andy Reid. I think that's the type of situational mismatch offense that doesn't sub (or allow the defense to sub) that Rodgers has wanted to run for a long time and just hasn't had the skill players to do it. It's not enough to have Adams, Jordy, and Cobb, we've needed that Travis Kelce X factor in there for a long time.

+ I'm loving MLF's game planning and ability to adjust. He's keeping opposing D's off-balance, knows how to use his players. The early challenge was a good call, took the ball away from KC.

- Agree regarding the defense issues, could be a problem down the road. The early success came before teams figured out their weak areas and are now exploiting them. Right now looks very Capers-like. Need to upgrade however they can. There is some talent there but some really bad tackling too and Pettine better get a handle on this now.

I'd take that bet. Would be stupid to risk it over one game. Kids patellar tendon was stretched far beyond how it is meant to. Recovery of that tendon takes 3-4 weeks minimum. If he were to re-injure it (and it is weaker right now that it was) his recovery may be 6-8 weeks or he may have bone issues with the next injury, like the tendon detaching and taking a piece of bone along with it.

Then you get a real problem.

But I hope he plays!

MM had players like AJones look to block first then step three yards down the field and turn around and look for a pass. He never schemed to get them out into open space while running.

He almost never had them swing into the flat as the primary option while the WRs run off coverage.

He almost never schemed to get a guy like Jones one on one v. a LB in space, down the field or anywhere else.

There was a comment that McCarthy made when the Packers were making the switch to Rodgers that always stood out to me.  He talked about Rodgers best attribute when throwing was driving the ball down the field. He designed the offense around that arm and wanted to drive it down the field all the time.

He never used his noggin to design plays to get playmakers into space, maybe because he never really had playmakers on the roster? He had some good WRs but never the fast, twitchy guy like Jones, and I include Cobb in that list. He was good but never had that burst.

MM prioritized putting RBs on the field that could pass protect. That's why we saw guys like John Kuhn and Brandon Jackson on passing downs. It makes it easier to scheme against if you are the defensive coordinator, but it's a decent strategy when you have depth and talent at WR. Guys like the younger versions of Jordy, Jones, Cobb, Jennings, and Driver were very likely to get separation if you gave Rodgers extra time. Guys like Allison, MVS, Kumerow, Lazard, etc. are not as likely to get separation with the extra time that at Kuhn-type back gives you. Jones is a great receiving RB, a very good runner, and average in pass protection. MM took him off the field on passing downs because of the latter.

And they exploited that same mismatch to salt the game away. We haven't seen that in years, even though oddly enough it's been a sure thing against the GB defense for how many seasons. That's a whole new dimension and they still don't have 17 on the field. The possibilities could be staggering. Now I'll stfu.

He's no longer average on pass protect. Look it up.

Second quarter was brutal for both MLF and Pettine.

+

As others have noted, second half adjustments were close to brilliant. Ticky-tack call on Tramon was the only thing keeping the defense from only giving up three points in the second half.

+ 7-1, baby!

ARod is playing like a wild man.  Jones and Williams are both playing really well, too.

Lazard is a legitimate threat.   He and Kumerow are getting a lot of reps, which can only help us later on.

MLF understands clock management!   such a refreshing change from McCarthy!

- Really disappointed that Geronimo hasn’t done much.  Also a little disappointed by MVS.  I expected him to make a huge step with Davante out, and he and ARod just seem a little out of sync.

-Shepherd.  Not fair catching that punt that got downed on the 2 yard line.

-Defensive concerns.  Moore seemed to have plenty of time for all his throws.  Where was the “illusion of complexity” we keep hearing about?  The Chiefs didn’t seem to be at all confused by our defense.  Tackling was sloppy and rb’s got a lot of yards after first contact.

- Vikings are sitting right behind us at 6-2.   I wouldn’t sleep on the Lions, either.

Was Raven Greenes injury a season ender. Is there any chance he comes back late in the year?

Last sighting I heard about was a week or two ago in the locker room...apparently he was on a knee scooter?  I'd imagine that doesn't bode well for his chances.
