While the Packers have done a pretty awesome job of drafting WRs over the years, going back to Wolf's days as GM, I think some of it has to do with two pretty elite QBs making many of those WRs look really good. And I also think the offensive-minded HCs the Packers have had also helps. Packer WRs are put in situations to succeed year after year!

How many former Packer WRs went on to have decent careers with other teams?
You gotta like the depth- but they still need their primary horses to go all the way. I am pretty sure McCarthy will burn the 3rd quarter tape- some of the worst offensive football under McCarthy to date. Execution was really poor- but the running game for once was the catalyst.

It was a win- a win with a limp, but now they can recharge, get healthy, and take their shot at the juggernaught Bears... Smiler

Either way, to get a guy like him at the end of the 2nd round is an absolute steal.

Just another example of draft gurus proving to be blowhards. Nobody knows how a player will translate to the NFL... nobody. The draft is fun to follow though.
Yeah the only thing that kept Cobb from being a round 1 pick was his school. Had he played at Tennessee, like he wanted, he would have been more highly regarded. He was everything at Alcoa HS and Phil Fulmer had an odd disdain for local prospects and never offered to Cobb even though Cobb wanted to attend UT. He is the only thing that kept UK relevant, wherever he lined up he was gold.
The near future just looks really bright to me right now.

Those were McCarthur Lanes out there today.

James Starks pounding it like Mad Max. Alex Green looked powerful too. James Jones doing his best "What's the big deal?" impersonation. Ho hum another first down catch. Another TD. Been there, caught that.

Tattoo Man wants in on the action.

This is good.

That's a lot of starters/mega-backups in there. Most teams would have folded the tents. Good coaching, good team to overcome those injuries. Let's hope the bye heals Clay, Bulaga, Shields, Perry, etc.
The first Cobb TD was just sick. DD with a nice block, then Cobb with the inside read and juke on the Safety was ridiculous. Cobb out of the backfield and carrying the ball was very nnnnnnnice too.

Mike Daniels was solid today.

On a personal note, since the game was live for me in Singapore on a Monday at 2am, I am glad my kids did not go to espn.com and tell me the score when I watched it after it was over.
Bush was the guy who whiffed on the tackle for Arizona's 1 YD touchdown in the first half. The guy is a special teams demon, but good gravy, every single opportunity on defense, he manages to do something ugly. The defense did some good things today (was very pleased with the way they played, with the exception of the 3rd quarter), and I can't wait to see what they'll do once Perry, Worthy, and Shields are back. Woodson won't be far off either. This team is clearly already much better than the 2011 version, and they have a shot at being better than the 2010 version if they get healthy.
Cards came out playing 6 guys in the box just as the Jags did. However this time we were able to run well vs. that formation. A negative was that when they finally realized that we didn't have Nelson, Jennings, & even Cobb for a series, they put 7-8 guys in the box, we had something like 17 yards of offense in the 3rd Q ..until the pass to Crabtree.
+++ Mike Neal abusing Colledge. Loved it.
++++ Another win
++++++++ Cobb. Are you kidding me with this guy?!?!

--- Missin Crosby is his new nickname. WTF happened to him?

Can't count on 10-6 giving the "auto" playoff bid. Giants were 10-6 in 2010 the same year we got in at 10-6. Fortunately we beat the Giants to win the tie-breaker.

Keep winning. Don't stop. Ever.
This was the defense most of yesterday.

DL- Pickett, Raji, Wilson, Neal, Daniels(R)
LB - Walden, Hawk, Jones, Matthews, Moses(R)
DB - Williams, Hayward(R), Burnett, McMillian(R), House, Jennings

Jones playing in his 1st year as an ILB. Burnett, House, Jennings are playing like seasoned vets, not 2nd/3rd year guys.

Thanks Ted, and credos to Moss, Greene, Trgovac, Perry, and Whitt.
HUGE PLUS for DD, the model teammate! This bit of info below is enough for me to forgive his drops. What a guy!

GREEN BAY – Donald Driver may not be a productive, integral part of the Green Bay Packers offense anymore, but the franchise’s all-time leading receiver certainly was an unselfish team player on Sunday.

When coach Mike McCarthy called a play that was designed to go to Driver on a quick slant with tight end Jermichael Finley and wide receiver Randall Cobb basically running interference for him, Driver broke the huddle, turned to Cobb and told the second-year playmaker to take his place. Driver, in turn, would do the dirty work.

The result? A 13-yard third-and-goal touchdown to the incredible Cobb, who continues to make breathtaking plays week after week. (It appeared on replay that Driver began blocking before the ball was in flight, but no penalty was called.)

"That was supposed to be Donald out there and he pushed me out there. He said, ‘Go get it, kid,’” Cobb explained after the Packers’ 31-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, a game in which he caught three passes for 37 yards, two of them for touchdowns. “He made a great block for me and sprung me, and got me one-on-one with the safety, and I was able to make him miss and get in the end zone.

"That shows you how much of a team player he is and how great he is for this organization. When I got back to the sideline I was confused. I was like, ‘Why did you give me that?’ He was like, ‘I knew you were going to get it.' That just shows how great of a player and how great of a person he is."
Wow. Donald Driver rules. But we all have known this. This is why he is on the roster. No divas.

Boris, I saw online somewhere yesterday that Slocum had gotten Crosby to change his run-up or steps in the early part of the season -- and he hasn't kicked the same since. Now its in his head. Hopefully during the bye he'll get it back together.
Positives

+ Bulaga, Nelson, Jennings, Benson, Kuhn... Offense still puts up 31 points against a D that is only averaging 19 per game.. Impressive!

+ Woodson, Shields, CM3, Bishop, Smith, Worthy, Perry... Defense holds a team averaging 16 ppg to 17. Impressive.

+ Cobb is a budding superstar.. He has the potential to be one of the NFL's best players.

+ Tom "Big Play" Crabtree.. That was a huge play as AZ had just closed in and it was a 7 point game. Broke their will.

+ Rodgers had his escape game going.. Good thing because there wasn't a ton of separation by the receivers and his yards on the ground won this game.

+ Once again, coverage units completely shut down a dynamic returner.

Negatives

- The D got a little lucky again today. Several dropped passes by AZ helped out big time. If they play their best, the game is a lot tighter.

- DD had a horrible game They replaced him 4 WR sets with Boykins in the 2nd half. Packers will draft his replacement next draft.

- Starks. It's tough to put him in the negative section because he is clearly the better runner of the two. Problem is that you can't trust the guy to pass protect and he coughed it up.. I don't know if he is mentally challenged or he doesn't take it seriously, but if you can't pass pro you can't play RB for the Packers.

- Only 2 sacks from the defense against a team that would have trouble blocking Waukesha North.
